VERY bad chicken pox in the groin what else can i use??

have chamomile, anti histamine, bicarb etc, anything else? ds1 (3) has them awfully in the groin including crack of his bum etc really really not nice...Also has a sore throat...cant see any in his mouth though?

Eurax anti itching cream seemed to help my DS. And calpol made him a little less unhappy. It's a grim thing chicken pox

I would try eurax lotion too.

Honey diluted in chamomile tea really helps to soothe and heal. Also oatmeal in the bathwater is amazingly good, just don't soak the him for too long as the spots need to dry up.

Also I used a homeopathy remedy that helped amazingly with the itching. My neighbour used it too and had the same result, sorry can't remember what it is called. (I know homeopathy is not everybody's thing but this was what convinced me that it really does work).

he now has them in his hair, in his mouth and in the rim of his eyes! Can this become a problem? I mean make him really ill?

You can also get calamine aqueous cream, stays on a lot better then normal calamine lotion and seemed to really soothe dd2's chickenpox.
Piriton syrup was very good too.

ive got calamine cream but how on earth do i get it onto his scalp and in his eyes and mouth?

I wouldn't put it anywhere near his eyes or mouth, but as for his scalp, well his won't be clean but I just gently smoothed some onto dd's hair.
She was only 1 and didn't have much hair.

My dd (3.5) has this too! I have got aqueous calamine cream but nowhere on it does it say it's ok to use on anal/groin area. I have been slathering more intimate chickenpox with sudocrem and bathing in starchy (cornflour) water probably same as oatmeally water. Calpol helps too. Poor ds hope he gets better soon. Not nice.

very ocasionally children can get seriously ill from chicken pox or have complications, i would keep a close eye on his temp, sounds like he has it really bad, if your unable to keep him at a stable temp i would take him to a&e. Some children are barely effected and others are knocked for six, if your really worried take him to hospital, better to be safe then sorry

had the worse night ever. Went to bed ok but then from about 10pm he was screaming and screaming and really aggrivated. Wouldnt sleep so ended up watching dvds whilst screaming. Rang out of hours at 3am as his lips were a bit swollen and they said they would see him but at that he had stopped crying so they said try getting him to sleep and come at 8am. Had about 1/2 hour sleep! Took him to docs about 8am who checked him over, temp was up but not concerned and that yes he did have them in his mouth and throat but there was no swelling...has today been on benadryl as piriton seemed to make him hyper, also got eurax lotion as thats easier to but on his scalp. Plus calpol and the chemist was very helpful (better than doc) who gave me a numbing spray thing for his mouth. He has odd ones on legs and arms but his groin, trunk and scalp are covered. so so horrible, dreading my 7 month old getting it....

My youngest had it really bad, we used poxclin from boots, kept it in fridge.

Its a mousse and its the only thing that really seemed to help.

my daughter had them on her labia and all round her bottom, in and out, the Dr gave us emla cream - which is the skin numbing cream. IT Specifically says don#t use near the genitals but the poor baby needed to pee and poo so bad.
The think she ahd them in her lungs too as she was cough cough cough.
My friends son had them at the same time, they came on his eyeballs, he was admitted to hospital - watch for that x

this is such a horrible disease. Yet another night of the same. So tired. Hes okish in the day. at night is hell despite dvds and all the drugs!

if the groin ones are hurting try metanium on them, its a great barrier, dd2 had the pox quite badly in her biyts this is what the pead gave us for her, made a big difference.

We're just coming out of the second round now - pox-clin seemed to help (should have kept it in the fridge - too late for us now). Also lots of calpol and piriton and walking the floor. I have noticed that although my four-year-old is officially better he is still struggling with tiredness and emotional fragility - a bit post-viral? He put himself to bed at 6 the other day not wanting any dinner (I wondered where he was and found he had put on his PJs and gone to sleep by himself) and he has found it very hard going back to nursery school because everyone commented on his scars.

your poor ds!! all the kids at preschool either had/have it so hoping not many comments. cant get that poxy stuff around here.. have ordered that stuff mrsnoname mentioned to be here tomorrow. i had no idea it was this nasty. he is asleep on sofa. ds2 will no doubt get it and he already has health probs and on medication

My ds got them aged 6 and then my 9 month old started just as he was feeling better. They both had an awful dose, on eye lids, anus, labia for dd and both got them all over the scalp and in their mouths. They were both very poorly with them too. I gave calpol, topped up with brufen regularly, max dose daily. I used eurax and cammomile too. For their heads I lathered their hair each night with aqueous cream with cammomile which you can get over the counter. Although the bedding was a mess it and their hair looked shocking it did help them plenty. It was the hardest 6 weeks of my life and i wish you all the best.

we are on day 5, spots are still appearing, any idea when they roughly stop?

I don't remember exactly to be honest, I think my mind has found a way of blocking it out .
I do remember spots were appearing for days, even after some looked like they had scabbed over.
From what i remember ds was very poorly, temp, drowsy, sick for about 7-9 days and then the itching started and he cried and cried throughout the night. He and dd did overlap but he was on the mend by the time hers took hold. She wasn't quite as poorly as ds but being a baby she just cried more or less continually.
they both had horrendous big ones on their faces which took ages to go and ds had a bad time at school being tormented.
Tis over now, so stay strong and remember it will pass.

yes they are all big ones on his face, looks very swollen, puffy eyes. Worrys me ds2 getting it but i guess he cant fight me off putting eurax etc on him like ds1 is. Its really a given ds2 will get it isnt it?
