Would you give your DC Medised even if they were under 2 years old?

DD is 15mo and is very snotty, she is struggling to breath when trying to get to sleep or for a nap.

The doctor has not prescribed Medised (I got some in a couple of weeks ago for DH as he was quite ill, it makes him feel better lol)

Would you?

I am aware that it is only with the last few months that the directions have changed re giving Medised to DC under 2 years old. It used to be okay for 3mo onwards.

yes

SoupDragon · 12/02/2009 11:06

Yes. The rules changed because some parents were thick.

If you're not misusing it, it is fine IMO.

Yes.
You are using it responsibly.

insertwittynicknameHERE · 12/02/2009 11:10

Thank you, I thought about it and wondered. I know not to use it with Calpol or anything like that. Lol SoupDragon, is that the only reason it changed

So do you use it throughout the day or for bed time only?

insertwittynicknameHERE · 12/02/2009 11:55

Thank you.

I think I will use it but only if DD is really struggling to breath when she goes to bed, like she was last night. She was so upset with herself that she wouldn't stop crying, bless.

Yes, I have a bottle from before the guidelines changed and i am perfectly capable of reading and following the instructions and would never give it with anything else.

popperdoodles · 12/02/2009 11:57

CrackerNut · 21/02/2009 08:31

Yes

princessmel · 21/02/2009 08:31

I have given it to both my dc's.

SarahL2 · 21/02/2009 08:38

yes, my son is not 2 for another 4 weeks and I've been giving him cough medicine (shock horror!!) to help him sleep through the night at the advice of both my doctor and the Pharmacist.

He also had Medised pre rule change and is perfectly fine.

I would/do stick to bedtime/naptimes though when you need it and just tough out the grotty awake periods
