Just when I thought life couldn't throw any more shit my way my 2 year old is currently undergoing tests and I am petrified. Hes had a swolen lymph node in his neck for over a year I've been to the drs about 8 times and always been shrugged off and told because he is small its just more visible.. went again last week as it has gotten bigger, when they sent him for urgent bloods which have detected AKI I've stupidly googled swolen lymph node and AKI and it all points to cancer. Hes not been right for about 6 months, back to back constant illnesses, he's never settled, is really clingy and his appetite is tiny. He's having more bloods tomorrow and then they want his lymph node scanning. I am genuinely petrified I can't eat or sleep just feel sick. Just wanting a hand hold please :( I nearly lost him at 8 weeks when he got severe covid and his heart was at 180bpm. My dd has had sepsis twice. I've had 4 miscarriages and lost my dad, dog and grandad in the last 6 years. I cannot cope with anymore sadness or pain. I just wanted healthy happy kids..

Needahandholdplease2023 · 13/12/2023 18:39

His bloods came back normal after the repeats, still waiting on a scan on his lump, its getting bigger, its like a marble now and has a friend next to it so still worried :( he's poorly again too.. sick of him been constantly ill. Its so draining! Thankyou all for asking only just seen, sorry!

Bless you, OP. Try and not worry (I know how hard it is!). My DS has a permanently enlarged lymph node on his collar bone - I noticed it back in 2019 and it’s still there, like a marble. He’s had blood tests and they were fine, so they think it’s just how he is (he’s never had an ultrasound but it has never grown, nor has it ever shrunk). Hope you get the scan date through soon and it’s all ok x

Needahandholdplease2023 · 15/12/2023 20:21

Thankyou its been put through as urgent and I think even on the 2 week pathway but guessing Christmas will mess with that, atleast I've done all I can now for him so far. Glad to hear similar stories too thankyou x

I hope you're seen quickly and that it's just an infection lurking somewhere.

Poppsidoppsi · 16/12/2023 17:33

Fingers crossed all is ok, @Needahandholdplease2023 xx

boobies1234 · 17/12/2023 20:37

Wondering how he is OP. Hoping the scans are all clear x

Needahandholdplease2023 · 19/12/2023 02:17

There's been a major cockup somewhere. My drs rang me yesterday to give me his scan results... hes not even had a scan yet! So God knows what's going on, dont have any faith in them at all

How frustrating!!! I really do worry about utilising our NHS sometimes.

hoping as others have said that it’s nothing 💐and that he’s not unwell for long

Mumontherunn · 19/12/2023 03:21

How frustrating OP. I don’t want to read and run but good luck - get on the phone tomorrow and chase chase chase until you have a scan booked. Hopefully this week. Good luck x

TheSeasonalNameChange · 20/12/2023 16:24

Frustrating! Hope you get some good news soon.

Needahandholdplease2023 · 20/12/2023 19:35

Beyond pissed off now. Went in today to speak to receptionist and the referral has either bounced back or been declined and the dr wants to review him again.. dont understand what's to review he's been sent for a scan under the 2 week pathway and now nothings happening?! So confused and let down. Speaking to Dr again on Friday to find out what the hell is happening. Going to go from there, will then maybe get a second opinion, complain or go private. I want him scanned for peace of mind if nothing else. Especially now because he's getting another one at the side of it on top of his skin. Sick of been worried and messed about by drs.

Poppsidoppsi · 21/12/2023 04:31

Oh OP, that is ridiculous! Would you consider calling the ultrasound dept at your hospital directly to find out why it was declined? Unfortunately, the squeaky wheel gets the most oil, especially with the NHS. I hope you are able to get an answer soon x

Needahandholdplease2023 · 21/12/2023 09:48

I'm wondering if the dr even did the referal properly it said it was wrong when I was in the room with him and he had to go back onto it and do something else before he closed it.. he also was flicking between my sons details and another patients notes whilst I was sat in the room. Massive data protection issue he's done this twice now. Don't want to get him in trouble but I will take it further if I have to. Will see what he says on Friday and then ask where he referred to then ill ring them myself and go from there. It's such a shitshow.

Poppsidoppsi · 21/12/2023 10:40

That’s disgusting OP! I would definitely ask / demand to speak with the GP - that’s such a dangerous thing to happen! Sadly, it does happen - my sister had it on her notes that she had a big op, when it was actually myself that had it! Say you want this issue rectified asap as it’s causing you undue stress / worry. Have his lymph nodes grown even more, or is it the same size? Can I ask how big it is? My DS (I think I mentioned earlier) can have very overactive lymph nodes and he developed one the size of an egg on his groin after getting a scratched knee, and that took time to disappear completely (although normal size for him is grape size).

bandmdrama · 22/12/2023 10:59

I would just take him to A + E and refuse to leave until they investigate it properly.

Needahandholdplease2023 · 26/12/2023 13:16

Dr did the referral but not properly consultant at hospital refused to scan because measurements weren't on referral and it said he'd had it under a year. Which is incorrect. Back at drs on 3rd of Jan to have it measured and referral made again. If not I'm going private. It's over 1.5cm which is the minimum they will scan. Pissed off the dr has messed it all up!

Finally got his date for his scan 29th of January! Abit of a wait but happy to be getting him scanned so hopefully I can relax and not have to worry anymore

Today's the day of the scan! Just hoping he actually let's them do it.. he's now petrified of hospitals and going to the drs so hopefully they can get a clear image. Unsure how they do this on a 2 year old who hates sitting still and will be freaking out but fingers crossed!
