Called back to consultant after DS brain MRI continued

Hello everyone, I’ve started another thread which continues on from this one

www.mumsnet.com/talk/childrens_health/4574553-called-back-to-consultant-after-ds-brain-mri?page=1

im blown away by you all, with your support and encouragement. Your messages really have been comforting and a distraction, I’m so grateful.

family background - I don’t have 6 children to run around with at home 🤣 I have three adult children with 2 at uni, and one a mummy herself. My youngest three are 13, 7 and 2. My 20 year old daughter who’s back from uni is staying with my parents and looking after her little brothers while we are here. Once things have settled with DS with pain we will bring them over and they can stay in Ronald McDonald with us.

Also please please, if you’re in McDonalds, please round up. This helps pay towards the amazing house we get to stay in which has been a god send. I can’t wait to start fundraising for these amazing people when this is all over xx

Thanks for starting a new thread - you aren't obliged in any way to keep us updated, but we (I think I can speak for us all here) would really like to know how your DS is getting on, and give you any support that we can.

Frazzled2207 · 30/06/2022 08:35

Nice to hear from you again. Pleased your older children are helping out with their siblings
how is your ds today?

concernedrepurplehouse · 30/06/2022 08:45

I stayed in the equivalent accommodation in Addenbrookes in Cambridge last month - what a godsend it was. The staff were pleased to get me out of the ward :).
sounds like a good mumsnet campaign to me....

itsgettingweird · 30/06/2022 08:46

Hey!!!

I read your last thread up until the news and then lost it (been in hospital myself as had hysterectomy!)

So glad they managed to remove it all. What fantastic news. 🤞 for good news from pathology.

friskybivalves · 30/06/2022 08:47

That's a very good call to arms about rounding up in McDonald's. Your thread has really brought home the amazing support these houses offer. Wishing you and DS an easier day today on the pain front.

Saz1793 · 30/06/2022 09:35

Wishing you and your family all the best c

My neice was born with a heart defect and spent 6 months in hospital.
Her family spent most of that time living in the Ronald McDonald house, it was totally awesome.

I always put money in the box in McDonalds. When my kids were little they used to put it in saying - this is for D* (neice's name)

SunsetandCupcakes · 30/06/2022 09:42

Good point about the roundup, I've also stayed in one and always used to put my change in the pot but since covid only ever use card.

Hoping the pain is under control soon

UnityO · 30/06/2022 09:47

Sending very best wishes to you and your family.

I've promised DS and his mates a trip to McDonald's today after their high school transition day so we will all be donating!

WorriedMillie · 30/06/2022 09:50

Sending love to you, OP, please reach out for support when you need to (pls PM me if you need help accessing support ❤️, don’t want to say too much on here, as outing)

I always round up at McDonald’s, but do it so absent mindedly, usually with a “starving” child hanging off my arm, I didn’t even realise exactly where the money was going. It’s such an excellent cause ❤️❤️

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 30/06/2022 10:08

I follow Ronald Macdonald House on Facebook, it's amazing seeing all the stories of the parents and their family's being able to stay close to their kids and how they are looked after by the staff, but also sad reading about the poorly children.

Glad your son is doing better op. ❤

We stayed there too - The Sick Children's Trust. I'm forever grateful and have been able to raise the money to 'pay back' for our stay and more since my daughter was discharged. I also donate to Ronald McDonald. They are charities/service that most people don't know exists until they need it. So glad you're able to stay close to your son OP. Thinking of you all

SailingBuddy · 30/06/2022 10:28

Sending you and your family lots of love OP

HazelBite · 30/06/2022 12:06

Happy to round up.

How is the recovery going?

elenacampana · 30/06/2022 12:27

We’ve been fundraising for the hospital our baby girl was born in late last year @nearlymumof5. It’s a great way to give back when you feel you’ve received care you/your loved ones need.

thank you for starting this new thread OP, I have been keeping up with it.
