Hi. Am new to Mumsnet.

My daughter has had two uti infections and had antibiotics to get rid. Ultrasound scan was normal. Last urine sample was clear when dipped and normal after being cultured, but daughter still says it hurts when she wees - not every wee but the majority. She is absolutely fine in herself, no other symptoms, drinks plenty (only water). Any ideas please? Can’t help worrying.

I would double and triple check for threadworms at any of these symptoms:
Pain urinating or frequent urination particularly wetting themselves or wetting the bed
Irritability
Waking in the night
Itching or fiddling with anywhere in the pants area, front or back

Also check at night when they are asleep. Sometimes the worms are only out then.

We have had several threadworm infections so now check regularly anyway, but always check and check again if the children show ANY of these symptoms, even in isolation.

Hi there, I wondered if you managed to get to the bottom of the urinary symptoms you mentioned for your daughter ? I could have written this word for word about my daughter who is going through this right now. Did you manage to get any answers? Is she better now please?

my daughter is awaiting a kidney scan.

Id be so grateful for your reply.

thank you.

Hi there, I have just seen your post about your little one with uti symptoms.

my 5yo is really struggling now and has been for 6 weeks. I wondered if you got any answers, or got to the bottom of it. Did you find anything that helped?

I would be so grateful for your reply as I’m worried about her and now missing school.

she has been referred for a kidney scan.

many thanks.

Hi. Poor thing, bless her.

Somethings that helped…

We limited sugar, increased fluids, and were prescribed Hydromol to use for shower and baths (you can also purchase from local pharmacy for about £8-12 depending on size). We also increased more baths rather than showers. Some toilet papers can cause irritation too.

Not much help now, but one doctor said they grow out of them.

If was a little red, Sudacrem seemed to soothe over night too.

Look into vulvovaginitis.

Also, 100% cotton underwear washed on 90 (I am sure 60 would be fine). Made sure was a full load but if not, made sure they went on a rinse and spin to make sure detergent was removed.

Bought tights with highest cotton content.

I know some of the above seem over the top but you feel so helpless and desperate, that you try everything.

I hope your little one, feels better soon and that you get to the bottom of it.

Thank you so much. We are a little desperate and will try it all.

already doing some of the above but have recently had a change of toilet paper and fabric conditioner so fingers crossed it might be one of these. I’ll give all of her underwear a wash without fabric conditioner and on a 60 tonight.

she has been prescribed a new antibiotic today to see if that helps.

thank you so much for getting back to me.

xx

Hi everyone, I know this is an older post but just wondering if anyone got to the route of the problem?

My 8 year old boy has been complaining of pain when he urinates and also lower abdominal pain, his urine sample was sent of to the lab but came back clear, doctor said if he's still in pain next week to take him back but I just worry I'm not doing enough.

He's fine in himself, playing, running eating as normal etc.

Thank you for any replies!
