DD (7) has very dry eczema prone skin on most of her body. Her face doesn't have red/itchy eczema as such, and I don't usually put anything on it at all, but in this weather it has become v dry. Especially under her eyes - it's so dry it flakes, poor thing.

We use epaderm on her body but it seems too greasy for face - any recommendations? Nothing with perfumes or essential oils

Thanks everyone for your advice! Yes, it absolutely is trial and error. It’s a bugbear of mine that eczema and skin conditions in general seem so poorly understood/researched. I’ve seen a derm many times with different things and it’s always just “try another/more steroid” Hmm

Anyway, rant over. We’ve been putting aveeno on her face and it seems to have helped so far, touch wood.

Hevonbu – a while ago we did consider dairy intolerance and did a dairy free trial, but it made no difference. A nutritionist had told us that dairy was the most likely culprit if it was caused by an intolerance, so after that we didn’t try any other exclusion diets. Perhaps we should but it’s so disruptive and in her case I don’t have a feeling that it is food related. The only thing that seems to make her eczema much worse is having a virus, and sadly we can’t do much to avoid those

Jassy have you tried the epaderm ointment? We tried those others on DD’s body too and epaderm is the only one that has been moisturising enough. We still need to use steroid occasionally though.

I bought Dermalex for DD and it has helped a lot.

DH and DD use coconut oil. Seems to work well for them
