Constant clearing of throat in my 7 year old ? What could it be?

For about 6 months now,my son constantly coughs, like he is clearing his throat, does not sound chesty at all and is well in himself other than this. Sometimes it can go on for ages!! I finally went to doc who said his chest is clear, but said it could be asthma !?! I'm not entirely sure about this, although don't know much about it. He was given a blue pump and was told to do this twice a day and monitor levels on another pump and go back in 3 weeks. It's now been 4 days and I see no improvement at all. Any comments and suggestions??thank u

Yes she still clears her throat and I do not know why. It disappears during the day. I'm finding out by cutting sugar my swallowing is better. I ordered a book called candida cure hoping to heal myself by its recipes. My ear is now swollen and itchy amongst other things. I believe it's from taking in probiotics. I even sneeze when I drank water kefir but yogurt doesn't seem to have this effect on me. Im gonna try and see an ent to flush my ears out as a biological dentist recommended. Hope all is well. Names Zara by the way.

I am going through the same thing with my eight-year-old son. Have you found any help yet?
Thank you

Hi,
She wakes up without trying to clear her throat but when she eats something that has wheat she starts the throat clearing. I myself have a wheat allergy so I'm guessing she does too. I do well on stonyfield yogurt and I give it to her but it's so hard to tell a 7 yr old she cant have cereal or chips. Shes a picky eater already. There is a tea for kids called throat coat she likes so I give her half a cup because I read it could be harmful if too much. Hope this helps.

@ClearThroat I have not found anything yet that works, I'm sorry :(

Hi Guys
Have any of you had an allergy/ food sensitivity test?
If so did anything show up?

Hi all.
My daughter has been throat clearing for around 5 months (she’s just turned 7.) Doctors tried nasel spray for allergies as she has slight asthma, that didn’t work. She was then put on proton pump tablets for silent reflux... we thought that started to work but now it’s back with a vengeance and accompanies a ‘hum’ sound.
She’s on the waiting list for a specialist to check if she has silent reflux or not, but that could be months before she’s seen.
Really don’t know if to keep her on the meds till she’s seen, or give in and accept its tics (although that worries the heck out of me.)
She’s had eye blinking and tongue clicking for a short time when she was little. Half of me wants to make sure it’s nothing we can first medically first though.
Any updates appreciated as I’m going out of my mind!!!!

Well. First have them test for strep to rule out PANDAS. Please research it and what others have had to do. With the other sounds it might be tics which can go away as they get older( they say) or it might end up be involved Tourette’s, hopefully not. I know it’s a tough time right now. There’s a group on fb called natural care for tics and tourettes. Please join. There are many others out there and you are not alone.

Hi many thanks for reply, Seyso, although doesn’t sound like GERD symptoms to me, and she’s not had strep thorax.

Seyso · 12/01/2021 17:51

You may not know if she’s had strep because some people do not show symptoms that’s why she will have to be tested. I’m just giving info I have learned.
