Dd is 2.5 and woke up just before midnight crying and clutching the back of her head. It seems to cause her pain every time she moves her head, she keeps repeating ow ow Sad

We phoned the out of our GP and a nurse there told us to take her to A&E straight away. We can't both go because we have other children so dh has taken her.

I'm really worried. Im use to the normal snuffles and temperatures but haven't seen this anything like this before. So scared that something is wrong with my baby. Sad

edna how horrible you must have a million things going through your head. Try not to panic if DH doesn't contact you for a while you know how busy hospitals can be and he won't be able to leave DD to get to a phone.
Hope all is ok.
Has she had a fall/ any symptoms earlier? X

Tinwe · 26/02/2012 05:53

Sorry to hear how worrying this must be for you. You've done the right thing sending her. Hope its only something minor.

JKSLtd · 26/02/2012 05:56

Hope you're doing ok, have been the one staying at home in similar situations it's horrible.
Agree that don't expect messages anytime soon though I always say to dh, text me even to say nothing is happening if you get a chance, it's so awful just waiting for news.
Fingers crossed she's ok.

EdnaClouds · 26/02/2012 05:58

Thank you. Feel sick with worry which I know is probably an over reaction but she's my baby.
She's not had a fall or hurt herself that we know of.
She went to bed at 8 as usual and then woke up at 12 like this. She's been crying and hd the back of her head all night. We've given her calpol and neurofen but it's not helped.

Glad he's sent a message.

I very clearly remember sobbing in bed when dh took ds1 to a&e (for a broken leg) when dd was a week old and I had ds2 (3) at home too I wanted to be there with my (eldest) baby so much.

Hopefully the wait isn't too lon and she gets seen asap

EdnaClouds · 26/02/2012 06:39

Must have been hard with a new baby. You're just pulled in so many directions.

Can't bare this waiting. I've convinced myself she's got meningitis.

Any news Edna?

Hope shes ok now. Try not to diagnose what it may be yourself - I know that's hard but you mustn't!

essexmumma · 26/02/2012 06:44

You poor thing!! I hope you get some news ASAP.

EdnaClouds · 26/02/2012 06:46

Still waiting to see the dr. That in its self must be a good thing, they would have got to her quicker if they thought it was serious.

Trying not to self diagnose. Must stay away from Google.

Just think your dd is in the best place and heres hoping its nothing serious. My ds was the same age when a similar thing happened to him. He woke all confused complaining of a bad neck and that the lights were hurting his eyes. Complete panic mode we rushed him to A&E. By the time we had got there he had calmed down. The dr's checked him and said he was fine but said we should always air on the side of caution. He said it was more likley to be a headache/migrane and as he had cold it was probably all related. hope shes better soon

chocolateyclur · 26/02/2012 06:59

Phone reception can be really bad in hospitals. I hope your DH is managing to keep you up to date.
