How long did it take your other children to catch CP from their brother/sister?

Just wondering.... DS1s are crusting over and no sign of any on DS2 yet.

it was 15 days from when dd first came out in spots until ds's started appearing. The incubation period is 10-21 days so you could have a bit longer to wait

mycatsaysach · 07/02/2012 18:02

14 days exactly

AlmaMartyr · 07/02/2012 18:02

Exactly two weeks from when DD first had spots to when DS started getting spots.

pinxminx · 07/02/2012 18:03

12 days for us

lakeofshiningwaters · 07/02/2012 18:07

DS didn't catch it from DD, despite a very active interest in counting her spots!

verytellytubby · 07/02/2012 18:35

My 3 had it exactly 2 weeks apart. 6 weeks of joy!

bumbleymummy · 07/02/2012 18:40

sigh....they're going to get it back to back aren't they. Better stock up on the porridge oats! Oh well. Best to get it out of the way.

Did you find that whole 'the second one gets it worse' to be true? DS hasn't been that miserable really but he has a lot of spots - including around his bum and in his mouth :(

AS the others have said, 14 days from one to two and 14 days from two to three. That what a fun month.

Seona1973 · 07/02/2012 18:47

ds didnt get it as bad as dd but he was only 5½ months old at the time so couldnt scratch. He did go on to get childhood shingles at the age of 3 which wasnt nice!

bumbleymummy · 07/02/2012 18:50

Ow Seona :(

2 bastard weeks Sad 6 lonely boring weeks of staying in with spotty itchy irritable kids, ergh.

TaperJeanGirl · 07/02/2012 19:13

Had 3 kids at the time

mrsravelstein · 07/02/2012 19:15

2 weeks between ds2 and dd. and dd had it waaaaaay worse, so from my sample of 1 i'd agree that 2nd one gets it worse.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 07/02/2012 19:15

2 weeks, we thought we'd got away with it...

Taffeta · 07/02/2012 19:16

2 weeks. DD was 2, DS 5. DD had it first. DD had it worst. But neither awful.

oooggs · 07/02/2012 19:18

Ds2 & ds3 got it 13 days after dd. January 2011 was hell!!

Sparklingbrook · 07/02/2012 19:20

Two weeks. DS2 was 4 months old and he was covered head to toe. Sad The GP was quite surprised.

Tmesis · 07/02/2012 19:23

Two weeks exactly. DD did have it slightly worse than DS, but there wasn't a huge difference.

silverfrog · 07/02/2012 19:24

dd2 was a good couple of weeks after dd1.

and yes she did get it far worse. dd1 had a fair covering of spots -worse in nappy area - but overall wasn't too ill with it.

dd2 was really ill (not in a complications way, but 'just' in a stay-at-home and feel really ill way), and had loads more spots. including some on her eyeball. which was not nice.

zipzap · 07/02/2012 19:36

Ds2 (then 2) got it first - both boys missed it at nursery several times prior to this. It was early august last year so screwed up doing pretty much anything over the summer.

Ds1 (then 5) came down with it about 4 weeks later - the day before school started :( which meant he missed the first couple of weeks of year 1 and thanks to his teacher not really helping it took him a good couple if terms to really settle down in his new class :(

I think he was quite pleased by the thought of missing school until he realised that he couldn't play with his friends (most of whom we hadnt been able to see over the holidays due to ds2's spots not crusting over for ages) and he was in pain and itchy for the duration!

Francagoestohollywood · 07/02/2012 19:38

Dd didn't catch CP from her brother. I did, however, and I think it was about after 14 days.

SingingSands · 07/02/2012 19:39

Exactly 2 weeks. I was getting smug and thought DS had escaped it when I felt a bump under his hair. Within an hour he was covered in spots!

Levantine · 07/02/2012 19:41

Two weeks again!

verytellytubby · 07/02/2012 19:47

DD was fine, Ds1 more ill and poor Ds2 was battered with it. It got stronger with each child. Good luck!

bumbleymummy · 07/02/2012 20:25

So two weeks seems to be the average then. I think I'll be mad by this time next week.
