The DFC

It's being promoted by the Story Museum in Oxford (which isn't an actual museum yet)

If you subscribe you can try 4 issues free first. (It's over £2 a copy though, is that a lot?)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Wonder if DD1 might like it. She's seven, but obviously as she's my PFB I think she's madly advanced.

cornsilk · 31/05/2008 10:25

That looks good but you have to pay £49 for a subsciption.

motherinferior · 31/05/2008 10:26

Maybe it could be her eighth birthday present

ChippyMinton · 31/05/2008 10:29

Looks interesting. Cr*p comics from the newsagents are around the £2 mark.

WendyWeber · 31/05/2008 10:37

MI, you could sign up and get the freebies and see how she gets on with it (but I'm sure any daughter of yours is totally brilliant )

There is also a 3-month option for £30, cornsilk - still quite a chunk at once though.

If it's all serials, I wonder what happens when someone subscribes in the middle? Would they get a synopsis? "in previous episodes of..."?

Enid · 31/05/2008 18:43

and it looks squarely aimed at boys at first glance

Enid · 31/05/2008 18:44
WendyWeber · 31/05/2008 18:45

How should it look to be aimed at girls?

OP posts:
Enid · 31/05/2008 18:46

well not pink

but maybe a girl friendly storyline in ONE of the stories?

Nighbynight · 31/05/2008 18:47

WendyWeber · 31/05/2008 18:48

They advertised this in The Week recently, but they were not very clear what it was about.

Shall tootle off anc investigate.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 31/05/2008 19:11

and even.

Hmm not overly impressed, he is a good reader so will stick with books.

wilbur · 31/05/2008 19:19

Think it looks worth a try - and I have just downloaded the Comic Creator template, which ds1 will love.

WendyWeber · 31/05/2008 19:26

Cf, I wonder if there is no issue 1 on paper? Just the website bits which are teasers for the rest?

I subscribed to this and the boys absolutely adore it. They fight over it every week when it arrives.

I'm not a comic person at all, I just don't get them and never have, so it's difficult for me to judge.

But there is no advertising whatsoever and the names involved (Philip Pullman, Nick Sharratt etc.) are high quality.

Does anyone else get copies?
