Inspiring book for nearly 18 year old boy plesde

I have a boy in plaster after a leg break. I would like to buy him a book to inspire him. He likes 50 cent and Eminem and bad boy made good type stories. He's not a keen reader but the right kind of book might hook him in. He's very reflective and thoughtful I think it's worth a go

I think at nearly 18, he's kinda outgrown the children's section (so obviously so that I'm really not sure if you're just taking the mickey), unless there are some special circumstances. Why not just get him a biography of Eminem or 50 Cent?

Touching the Void by Joe Simpson - true mountain adventure, and similar real-life survivor tales - eg Into Thin Air

The Reluctant Fundamentalist - Mohsin Hamid

a prison memoir? eg In It by Jonathan Robinson - I haven't read this but it looks like it's not too lurid, no glamourising crime or drugs.

Unbroken - its long but good.
Eminem biography is quite good

Although at that age I'd prob get him a travel book and encourage him to start saving for a gap year.

Not so much an inspiring read, but very thought provoking and about social media, so of interest to an 18 y/o.

The philosopher and the wolf- wonderful autobiography of a young academic and his wolf! Very moving.
Between a rock and a hard place. Climber gets trapped; it was made into a film 127 hours.
Feral. Popular science/ ecology about how the British landscape is manmade- even the bits we think of as beautiful countryside and how it could be 'rewilded'
All great and different reads and will give him lots to think about after.

Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby (unless he hates football/Arsenal!).

A Million Little Pieces by James Frey (although it deals with rehab from addiction so don't know if you'd feel it was suitable?)

Live at the Brixton Academy by Simon Parkes (music scene in 1980s London)

It's annoying because It's Not About the Bike by Lance Armstrong was so inspiring until we found out he was a liar/psychopath
