Recommendations for a picture book about fish?

18 month old DD loves books and is currently obsessed with fish, so we thought we'd spend some of her Christmas money on a new story. We already have Barry The Fish With Fingers, but any others starring (or heavily featuring) fish would be good.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Tiddler by Julia Donaldson

SunnySomer · 10/01/2016 20:08

Secret Seahorse is a sort of poem but full of pictures of fish. Can't remember who wrote it but it's published by Barefoot Books and is beautiful to look at

There is also an Usborne book called Under the Sea and the Octonaut books of course Smile

Seeline · 11/01/2016 11:56

The Rainbow Fish

IHeartKingThistle · 11/01/2016 11:57

The Fish who could Wish.

I don't much like it but DS does!

TannhauserGate · 11/01/2016 12:02

Hooray for Fish by Lucy Cousins (who does Maisy too). Perfect for that age.

drspouse · 11/01/2016 12:05

Hooray For Fish, you can get a version with a DVD as well.

PeaceLoveAndMincePies · 11/01/2016 12:06

Fidgety Fish, can't remember the author. I don't care for it, the ending bothers me. But there are fish.

bikingintherain · 11/01/2016 12:07

Tiddler as pp said. It's a huge hit in our family.

maamalady · 11/01/2016 13:24

Hurrah, lots of suggestions, thank you everyone :)

Yes to Hooray for Fish, my DD loves this.

blueshoes · 11/01/2016 14:45

Max the Minnow is great. It has big googly eyes. I liked the story too - which is more than I can say for most children's books.

Bright Stanley

That's Not My Hat

Theknacktoflying · 13/01/2016 20:32

There's also Commotion in the Ocean - poetry about sea creatures

PeaceLoveAndMincePies · 13/01/2016 20:50

Does That's Not My Hat have fish in it!?

maamalady · 13/01/2016 21:29

Yeah, This Is Not My Hat is a fish book - a bit lacking in colour for such a small child though, I think. I do love it myself (and I Want My Hat Back), and DD will no doubt receive them in the next couple of years!

She is now the proud owner of Hooray For Fish and very enthusiastic about it. Fabulous pictures indeed. Thanks all for suggestions!

The Rainbow fish. Love how the fish sparkles in the book.

PeaceLoveAndMincePies · 13/01/2016 21:50

I have I Want My Hat Back. Apologies for the confusion. No fish therein.

Creatureofthenight · 13/01/2016 21:56

Tip tap went the crab by Tim Hopgood - can't remember how many fish, but follows a crab from the beach to the deep sea, good for that age too.

NoSquirrels · 13/01/2016 22:12

Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle. Loads of fish, with interesting info about them, and lovely interactive pages.

mawbroon · 14/01/2016 01:49

There's another Julia Donaldson one about a hermit crab, the name of which escapes me right now..

BatMobile · 14/01/2016 03:35

Tip Tap Went the Crab is good. Admittedly quite crab-focused, but lots of fish too. And numbers / counting.

Marzipants · 14/01/2016 03:37

Another vote for Hooray for Fish. It's mercifully short too.

everythingispeachy · 14/01/2016 04:19

I came in to say hooray for fish and tiddler too but there's also a far few fish in the Snail and the Whale also by Julia Donaldson
