Walkabout and Carrie's War - suitable for 10 yo?

I remember reading the above books when I was at school but can't remember what age. Do you think they are suitable content for a quite mature 10 yo. Both are quite sad in places but she isn't easily upset - read Black Beauty and the Railway Children without a sniff Hmm iirc. I would like to get them both for christmas.

Carrie's War is fine - I read it at 8ish. How about Goodnight Mr Tom too?

She has read when hitler stole pink rabbit. I blubbed at Goodnight Mr Tom but I loved it. May add that one then.

also the real clarice bean books ( nto the baby ones) are hilarious

and there is one about a boy trekking back from a conc camp

I loved Walkabout when I was nine or so. Yes to Goodnight Mr Tom.

Also Charlotte Sometimes and Daddy Long Legs.
