lol - my friend can beat that - the inspector was with her nearly 7 hours - the CM had to ask her to leave at 6.45pm!!! (she got a good with outstanding areas too)

edam · 04/03/2010 22:11

Five hours? Good Lord. What on earth was he or she doing all that time?

It was bad enough when my Nanny was doing her NVQ and the assessor came round for 90 minutes... very irritating having this woman in my way in my home but I put up with it to support the nanny. But FIVE HOURS? Good grief.

I was talking to an inspector the other day and she said that although the published report is really short they have to produce about 18 pages of evidence just in case the judgement gets challenged.

So I suppose they have to stay as long as it takes to get all the evidence they need.

CaitlinMeringue · 04/03/2010 22:18

mate said the inspector introduced herself and then straightaway said I am VERY thorough (friends heart sank) and launched in

the inspector joined in some games ad activities but spent most of the time tyoing on her laptop and then spent an HOUR giving verbal feedback to mate

!!!!

HSMM · 04/03/2010 22:19

Mine was 5 1/2 hours - when her laptop crashed after 4 1/2 hours I was dreading her starting all over again!

CaitlinMeringue · 04/03/2010 22:21

CaitlinMeringue "we are noramlly orf running in the woods, hugging trees and tracking deer, or at toddlers/music"

Sound lovely! Can I come?

Why wouldn't you just take the inspectors along too?

Sorry if that's a naive question - I'm not a CM. Well not any more anyway - but my CMing days were way back in the dark ages before Ofsted! I couldn't help but comment though it's such a nice image

CaitlinMeringue · 04/03/2010 22:42

I wouldn't have the nerve to ask the inspector to come out with us

but thank you

Hey Baldy

DO NOT BECOME ACCREDITED

My Inspector was with me THREE DAYS!

CaitlinMeringue · 04/03/2010 22:57

oh my god

OP posts:
CaitlinMeringue · 04/03/2010 22:58

I was thinking of accreditation as a way of accessing that bloody funding that our LEA ain't dishing out to the proles

I can't remember the name of the grant off the top of my head

OP posts:
Shoshe · 04/03/2010 22:59

And she did come out with us, she had too, I was not staying in that long.

The school run was interesting!

CaitlinMeringue · 04/03/2010 23:04

heh heh heh

OP posts:
navyeyelasH · 04/03/2010 23:04

you can ask them to leave after 3 hours tho I think??

They also can't go out because they need to do typing and other serious stuff.

I will cry if mine is this long! Did your fiend do her SEF?

Shoshe · 04/03/2010 23:07

Navy mine came out, went to the park with me.

(You have nver seen a risk assessment of the park done soooooooooooooooo thoughly!)

And she came on the school run, the 5 other CM's who I used to stand with suddenly made themselves scare when they saw me coming!

Chickens!

CaitlinMeringue · 04/03/2010 23:08

NEL I forgot to ask about whether she did her sef, d'oh

hmm I think being allowed to ask them to keave after 3 hours is a Myff

I took my inspector for a walk round the village for over an hour, it was great we chatted normally and she even joined in laughing with the children when we saw a mouse by the pond. It was so much easier than staying in, I can't cope with that.
I showed her my risk assessment notebook I carry with me for adhoc ra's, great opportunities for showing road safety, she even wrote in my report about being able to communicate well with people when I was stopped by friends who insisted on being introduced!!
If she doesn't want to join you she will sit in the car and wait for you to come back.

raindroprhyme · 05/03/2010 11:58

You shouldn't need to change your plans to accomadate the inspector or it isn't a true reflection of your service.
Why do they need to be able to type stuff? Surely they can use pencil and paper.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/03/2010 16:24

5 and 7 hours - omg - how can you still cm and do what you all do with them watching/asking you stuff?

CaitlinMeringue · 05/03/2010 16:30

well yy they ask questions and observe you with the children at the inspection, that's fine but for HOURS ON END????

Completely unreasonable surely it can't be ggod for the children to have attention diverted for so long

Still bricking it

OP posts:
Ripeberry · 05/03/2010 17:36

I just wonder, is it that long because they have to see you...feed the children, change some nappies/help with toileting, make sure you take the kids out (unless it's pouring), see you put the baby down for hi/her nap.
See you interacting with the children.
I'm due mine on the 16th and I'm just going to have a normal day, not do any special activities (only have an 18month old)and he will have his nap as normal which would be within 1 hour of Ofsted arriving and he can sleep for over 2hrs
But the problem is, he has never seen any other adults in my house, apart from my husband and I think he will just cry because a stranger is in the house.
