Come on Kcemum - where are the network co-ordinators in your area Whirlygiggle only needs one to contact

kcemum · 11/06/2005 22:51

Honestly not sure because I only belong to a group not network(now I'm feeling unprofessional(blush))unless they are the same thing which I doubt.

whirlygiggle · 11/06/2005 22:52

Are these groups run by childminders or another organisation?

Networks are often funded by Surestart but run by councils or NCMA branches (I think) Norfolk is slightly different as Childminding Matters is a charity (I think)

whirlygiggle · 11/06/2005 22:56

do you know what...i will phone the CIS on Monday....they should have the info shouldn't they?

OP posts:
KatyMac · 11/06/2005 22:56

Good idea about CIS

Kcemum - don't worry about your group - if it's active (& twice a week is) then a network wouldn't be able to do much more - keeping people motivated is the main thing (IMO)

It's the 6 weekly inspection that helps - now OFSTED is only inspecting every three years it gives parents some security to know that an outsider comes to visit every 6 weeks and checks up on H&S and "Good Practice" - I really like it - but some C/Mers see it as intrusive.

But I'm from a civil Service background and like to have QA and standards being seen to be checked

whirlygiggle · 11/06/2005 23:07

do they come to every members house every 6 weeks?

kcemum · 11/06/2005 23:09

whirlygiggle try www.nottinghamandcountychildminding.orgor ask cis if they have a contact number for Anne Soar

KatyMac · 11/06/2005 23:12

Sarah Edwards 01777 700323 Nottingham & County Childminding Assocation

To find out more about childminding networks in Nottingham City, please phone Joy Mitchell on 9150728

Might get you a local number if you contact one of them - not usre how uptodate the nos are - sorry

KatyMac · 11/06/2005 23:13

Yes WG - we talk about the childrens development, business practice, training etc it was a bit nerve racking for the first few visits - but I had OFSTED here for 4 hrs the other day and was able to ignor her as I was so used to being observed

whirlygiggle · 11/06/2005 23:14

Thanks kcemum! That looks promising!
