I have started bashing away at updating my EYFS policies in line with the new welfare standards.

I went to bed at 8.15 last night and am wide awake, bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Oops! Cannot reach my halo - could someone give it a polish for me please???

I did, had to wander the corridors a bit, but got here eventually

(The Halo shining was a good beacon

We are off to dance this morning, the mindees love it.

it will be the first time with new baby that started yesterday, she is a tiny dot! Only 9 months, I haven't had one so young in a long time.

mumsanutter · 20/11/2008 07:14

I'll polish the halo - as long as you send me some of the bright eyed and bushy tailed - I am done in!! Glad that I'm only working after lunch today [yawn emotion]

I've tried to get all my policies up to date, which I did sillily after I'd done my sef, so now I hve to redo my sef!!

See - told you I was done in I can't even post a message once - mums wanders off to find a very strong cup of coffee to get her through the school runs.......

NumberFour · 20/11/2008 07:22

LOL! Did you go to the Policy and SEF thingy, Mumsanutter? With the network? P recommended doing policies first and then SEF. I did not see your littlest DC so don't know if you where there!

Shoshe, I had a 9 month old start a year ago and canno believe the changes. Except separation anxiety is setting in, poor thing and poor mum....

back to my policies while first mindee watches tv snuggled up under his blanket in his pyjamas! let ANYONE challenge me on that!!!

OP posts:
mumsanutter · 20/11/2008 07:27

Yup I was at the SEF thingy (ds is no longer breast fed, so he stays at home and P wasn't happy when he was there anyway!), but there was so much going on, and they were talking over things so quickly I obviously missed the recommendation - note to mums take dictaphone to record P as can't listen and write at the mo!!

NumberFour · 20/11/2008 07:38

i was the same at writing and listening. got all in a fluster.

my coordinator DW told me at my one to one a few days earlier. probably did not hear P say it either. in fact, not sure she mentioned it????

Morning everyone.

Another Thursday and still no more phone calls asking for their lo's to come and play with me, so it means I have to do the grown up things again and tidy the house .

I got told that I only needed to update my policies if they were linked in anyway to the old standards? As had the number of the standard in it. Or do I need to really be writing them all out again?

Have a great day all of you with your halo's shinning and dancing through the day.

LoveMyGirls · 20/11/2008 08:10

Morning everyone,

Dd2 has been wearing pants in bed for about 2 weeks now, we've been lifting her about 10-11pm and it's been fine until last night I went in at 10.30 and she was fast asleep in a soaking wet bed so we bathed her and stripped the bed etc told her it didn't matter (proud she lasted 2 weeks before her first accident) then this morning she came and got into our bed and it was only when dp asked her where her vest was she said she'd wet the bed again so then had to strip hers and our bed, bless her she had gone and got a towel to try and dry it and changed her pants, why she didnt just come and get us I don't know but I do know it's days like this I'm glad I haven't got to rush out to an office and deal with it all at 6pm tonight. By the way what should I do with the duvet I tried to wash it last night but it wouldn't fit in with the rest of the bedding so I put it on the line and poured hot soapy water all over it but this morning it had blown off so after I've done our bedding I'm going to try and see if it will go in the machine on its own and I'll nip into town later and buy her a new duvet but is there anything I can buy to stop her new duvet getting wet like a waterproof sheet for the duvet?
(feel like I'm new to this dd1 is 9 so it's been a long time since I changed a wet bed) rea\lly glad I brought a shower curtain as a spare waterproof sheet now though, might leave it on as it seems to have done a better job than the £10 sheet I brought from mothercare, at least it's big enough to fold under the mattress the other one is supposed to be tied to the bed but it won't fit!

southernbelle77 · 20/11/2008 08:12

Morning all.

Mad rush as dd is being slow and not wanting to get ready for school! I've popped in here quickly for some sanity

After school run all mindees arrive and I will take them all to drop in. Then all will probably sleep this afternoon so not planned anything yet Planning never was my strong point! Oh god, or updating my policies!! I'm useless

Have a good day all.

Shoshe · 20/11/2008 08:49

coolj · 20/11/2008 09:02

Morning everyone (grump grump).

Can anyone help with my ### planning ### thread please.

I am getting hacked off now .

Well done Shoshe, do you want to come and work for me. You can have your own bedroom, bathroom and a share of my DSs, pets and telly.

southernbelle77 · 20/11/2008 09:06

Thanks Shoshe, email sent

mumlove · 20/11/2008 11:30

Shoshe I have emailed you. Thankyou .

Shoshe · 20/11/2008 13:17

Have replied to you all.

looneytune · 20/11/2008 14:10

Hello

Shoshe's handbook is WONDERFUL - I HIGHLY recommend

Well, I'm sat here eating choccy biscuits with my cup of tea trying to take my mind off ds2 being with daddy having his first jab I want to be with him but with all these kiddies, it made sense for daddy to take him. 2 mindees are napping, I've cleaned and prepared everything and all ready for school run at 3pm.

Oh, I couldn't believe it this morning. Doorbell goes shortly after 7.30am and I'm saying 'WTF is someone ringing at 6.45am!!!' Well I'd switched my alarm clock to wrong bit and it was showing the time the alarm was set to go off so I raced downstairs as quick as I could and said sorry and mum thought it was very funny. I had a headache from having 2 cans of stella last night instead of 1!! I was celebrating Ofsted saying yes to variation as never expected them to agree in a million years! lol Anyway, no harm done but I was annoyed at myself! Only done something like that twice in over 3 yrs of childminding but still, it's not how I like to answer the door!!

Hope you are all having a good day.

Ripeberry · 20/11/2008 14:17

Can anyone help me with a few SEF questions?
I'm on a pre-school committee and we need to see an SEF form but without Ofsted knowing.
As we are due an inspection very soon and we want to be able to prepare.
We have only just managed to get a committee together after an AGM and two EGM!
But the policies are a right mess (previous pre-school leader just left it all for the old committee to get on with) and there were basically only two of us.
We have put it down in our minutes that we KNOW the policies need re-doing and we will be doing them.
I've found a form on Ofsted website for nurseries, is that OK to use for pre-schools?
Thanks.

Ripeberry · 20/11/2008 14:22

Shoshe, i've e-mailed you also

mumlove · 20/11/2008 14:27

Shoshe - Thankyou very much. Yes we must meet up again and eat lots of cake.

Looney - You are only normal, we have all done it/will do it at some point.

I had to go to toddler group this morning to have a quick play with some lo's and of course chat with my friends .

looneytune · 20/11/2008 14:42

Ripeberry - You can't get into it without a special ref number etc. but I went through and copied and pasted each bit into a word doc - do you want me to email it to you? It's not meant for schools though, just so you know

mumlove - pleased I'm only normal

NumberFour · 20/11/2008 16:06

No.4 sit down deep breathe and have a choccy biccy. Now tell us whats up.

Ripeberry · 20/11/2008 16:33

Thanks for the offer Looney, but it needs to be one for pre-schools. Its just that we are worried that by asking for the SEF they will come and inspect us early!
We are just trying to find out what kind of questions they ask.

Shoshe · 20/11/2008 16:58

Email the rest of you, hopefully you should be able to open yours Ripeberry.
