Thank God its the end of the week

We are swimming this morning, after which the mindees always sleep for at least a couple of hours, which gives me time to cook dinner, do some paperwork, and of course have quick look in the Staff Room

Morning shoshe,

Not back at work until 3pm today, so going to pop to shops this am and have quiet time with my babies.

Shoshe · 14/11/2008 07:10

I dont know you part timers pretending you are going shopping, we know you are really going to do 'ladies that lunch'

(Thats what I am going to be next year, well maybe not in Term time, but am all the other time )

MOrning, Mumsanutter and Shoshe

Yes, TFIF. I managed to clean the vomitty toy box last night. Mum has suggested she takes him to doctor to see why it happens.

Got the normal full day today so best i be off

NumberFour · 14/11/2008 07:30

Shoshe: about taking the mindees swimming. How do you manage? NOT NOT NOT quizzing you as to ability!!! just logistically - how?

mumsanutter · 14/11/2008 07:30

Hay, I'm making the most of it. The mindee that I currently have mum works shifts, so I can have 27 hour week or an over 60 hour week depending on mums shifts!! I don't do lunch - not with 2 children in tow, I am a lady that coffees!!! Got no money to actually go shopping, but have enougth for a cup of coffee!!

Sorry that sounds too defensive, another bad night and now ds2 has a cold - I think we need to quarentine my house!!!

popperdoodles · 14/11/2008 07:54

Morning, my first time popping into staff room so be kind to me please ladies.

My mindee get here at just after 9 today and then we will all be off to toddlers this morning.

Have a good day everyone.

LoveMyGirls · 14/11/2008 08:05

Hi everyone,

We're going to toddler group then back here for luch and naps, dd2 is at nursery and I've got one mindee going home early today so will just be me and baby going to pick them all up.

Off to make packed lunches and chivvy along my dd's

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 08:22

Morning I am working until 10:30 then retreating to bed to be miserable & plan my holiday (I have no idea where we are going just when 26th Dec)

I am on enormous A-B's again & I really regret doing that temp job - I guess this year has been a nightmare

Mindee & I will have breakfast then do some jigsaws/threading - something nice & quiet so I can be gentle on myself

Agree with everyone it is good it is Friday

DH has taken them all off on the school run and I am already about to collapse

Shoshe · 14/11/2008 08:47

We can take two children per adult swimming No.4

So usually I have a adult helper (Little Cook, Big Cook????)

Anyway, I have a friend who is CRB cleared, she brings her little girl and I pay for her to get in.

OK are you ready for the masterclass.

Before you go, change all kids into all in one fleeces, and vest and nappies.

When you get there, change yourself first, then eldest and so on down the line, as you take the clothes off, hang on peg the way you are going to put them back on, with nappy over the top.

Once in water, all have arm bands and rubber rings, that way you can keep them all above the water level and grab them by the ring, if they float to far away. Never Ever put child in ring without armbands they can slip through.

Once swimming is over, strip child, sit on floor (they will fall off benches) with bum in the ring, (they cant crawl off then) cover with towelling poncho so warm and give snack and drink.

Dress yourself, you cannot dress them if you are cold and shivering, it takes twice as long.

Then start with the youngest usually they are dry by this time, dress, put in buggy cover with blanket, do the next child.

I can usually get us out and all 4 of us changed and in the car in 15 minutes.

Then straight home to bed, if they make it that far before falling asleep.

So endeth the masterclass

Dear God

I am NEVER doing that......ever

leonifay · 14/11/2008 08:51

wow...i'm speachless. your good!

southernbelle77 · 14/11/2008 09:14

Swimming with mindees is definitely NOT for me!!

You need to write a book Shoshe...

'How to master going to swimming with children' - you'd make a fortune!!

Just waiting on mindee here then off out for coffee and crafts!

Have a good day all

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 09:21

That is why childcare/childminding can't aford to lose people like Shoshe

NumberFour · 14/11/2008 09:22

i swoon in the presence of greatness, Oh Shoshe!!!

Yowzer, babe!!

NumberFour · 14/11/2008 09:25

hiya, popperdoodles! I was also terrified of the staff room at first but everyone has been nothing but LOVELY!

AbbaFan · 14/11/2008 09:31

Morning all and a big welcome to popperdoodles

Enjoy the swimming shoshe, I have only ever attempted it once with 1 mindee!

CMfanclub · 14/11/2008 09:33

I hope you ladies won't mind me popping in to leave you a messge - it's a bit like going in the teachers' staff room!

I just wanted you all to know what a great job I think CMs do. If it weren't for people like you, I would not be able to go to work and provide for my children the way I do now.

The recent ridiculous threads wound me up so much that I felt I must come in here and thank you all.

Please forgive the complete and utter cheesyness but I am very very grateful to my CM for the love and care she gives my DCs and I wanted to put that down in written word somewhere.

YOU ARE ALL GREAT

(Scuttles off back to work hoping she hasn't made an arse of herself)

southernbelle77 · 14/11/2008 09:37

It's people like you, CMfanclub, that make this job worth while. Being appreciated by children and parents alike.

Thank you for you 'utter cheesyness' thread. It's lovely when people say things like that!

BTW, mindee is late so not ignoring anyone to play in kitchen with knives!!!

asif · 14/11/2008 09:40

agree, that other thread drove me mad

just ignore it, cm's, you all sound lovely!

BTW KM, whats up, aren't you feeling well?

AbbaFan · 14/11/2008 09:49

Thank you CMfanclub and asif, that is really nice of you to say . SB is right, it really does make the job worthwhile when the parents / kids appreciate you.

I think all us CM's that post here are so professional. So many of us are training and doing courses, making sure we under-stand EYFS, and exchanging great activity ideas for the children.

Were always busy doing stuff with our mindees when we are working, and could only dream of hours upon hours of 'net surfing' time!

MrsPuddleduck · 14/11/2008 09:49

Can't believe Fivecandles is still going for it....

I have two more quiet weeks and then December is going to be manic so I am going to catch up on paperwork and make the most of it. Sadly I am losing a mindee in Jan but hopefully business will pick up in the new year.

Is it usually quiet this time of year? I am presuming that not many people are looking for childcare in the run up to Christmas.

SammyK · 14/11/2008 09:53

Hi everyone {waves to popperdoodles and hugs CMfanclub}.

I have let DS stay off preschool today, he cries every morning about not wanting to go, "but mummy is my favourite" have a pounding headache and couldn't face the guilt today.

Now fsted and NVQ out of the way I have a disability living allowance form to fill in for DS.

Pinkchick - loving the cardi

Shoshe - I am in awe!

KM - take it easy, almost the weekend.

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 10:10

To quote from another thread

"I can officially collapse

I have
A chest infection
An ear infection
A bad back

& I turned all the little squares on the pee dipstick into a rainbow of colours - so I guess I have a urine infection too"

Shoshe · 14/11/2008 10:50

I am not the only one who goes swimming, London11 and Tori32 also go, and you know what your all COWARDS

Go on I dare you.
