Is everyone getting to grips with it all yet. Are we all planning, observing and enjoying it?

Sammyk - Thanks, I have downloaded all those planning sheets - Brilliant

KatyMac · 07/09/2008 21:03

SammyK are they free?

navyeyelasH · 07/09/2008 22:14

KatyMac yes they are the site is fab!

I'm just going through some stuff before work tomorrow and think I have just had a sudden ding dong moment with EYFS; can someone tell me if this is right?

A unique child is basically all about how the CM respects each individual child & their backgrounds and communicates with them and how the CM demonstrates understanding of milestone moments. Then reflect on care. So it's focus in on the care the CM provides.

Positive relationships is all about sharing, empathy, friendships, working with parents etc

Enabling Environments is all about planning and challenging the child ensure appropriately stimulated given age, having a happy comfortable learning environment so child can thrive, sharing info between settings.

Learning and Development has 6 sections then each of those has at least 4 sections. This area involves observing child in different learning environments such as craft, free play, literal learning such as numbers. Personalising learning and ensure children are always challenged.

Have I got this right?

Would that mean then that if we wanted to link what we have observed back to EYFS we would only be linking it back to Learning and Development? So if I make something that has the 6 categories of learning and development, then list each of their subcategories it would correct?

If this is totally wrong then . Can't wait till I go on the bloody course!

KatyMac · 07/09/2008 22:16

Shoshe · 08/09/2008 07:49

Katy only just seen this about your ME.

Are you just not sleeping or sleeping and feeling like you are hit by a truck when you wake up?

I went through it from January to about April this year it was the worst I have ever been, was getting to sleep OK but waking within 3/4 hours and that was it for the night, I was exhausted, and sinking on the sofa as soon as the kids went.

Eventually got it under control by the Dr changing my pain meds for the Fibromaygia so that they lasted through the night, but the biggest thing was having Easter off and just sleeping through it.

KatyMac · 08/09/2008 08:01

Sleeping & waking like I have been hit by a truck

Sleeping after lunch and at 6pm then not at night until after 1

KatyMac · 08/09/2008 08:02

see here

Shoshe · 08/09/2008 08:10

Give up Katy, you cant carry on like that

Have you seen the Dr again, the pain sounds like Fibromyalgia, which is linked with ME

coolj · 08/09/2008 09:23

Hi everyone, Ive just had a look at the BCMA. That is fantastic. Does anyone know if the NCMA will sell planning books etc.

Hi

I've not posted in this section before. I cm one 18month old for one day a week and one 2.5 year old for 3 hours a week. I can't see how I can have a annual plan for such short periods of time.

I do a diary with photos and observations. I didn't even know about the fridge thermometer.

It's beginning to stress me too much to make it worth the effort.

TheIronLady · 08/09/2008 15:33

I am posting under another name for obvious reasons - but haven't posted for a while now...

I am seriously considering giving up the job I love; it's not just the EYFS but this has really added to me making my decision sooner rather than later. I am proposing to give parents 3 months notice and plan to make xmas week my last week. I am personally finding that everytime I pick up the pack to read and start on planning, I just put it down again - is it just me who feels like this. I do hundreds of photos and put in scrap book, do daily diaries about our day, I just find that the thought of doing all thats required under the EYFS on top is just too much for me. I don't really want to think about 'work' in the evenings or weekends not because I don't love my job but I am just too busy with 'my life'.

I am dreading telling my parents how I feel...

navyeyelasH · 08/09/2008 20:01

TBH EFYS is really daunting at first - once you get your head around it things aren't that different to what you are doing currently; you just need to show how the activity links to one or some of the learning goals.

I found that we were over thinking things it sounds like you already do EYFES stuff iron lady just in your own way.

Please do not be daunted by it I know it's rubbish being made to feel you have to do something but children need as many good CMs as they can get!
