There's only one way for your DH to learn how to care for his son for more than 2 hours, and that's to just get on with it. Does he never ever plan to have him without you there too?

What on earth would he do if you had to go into hospital?

imananny · 25/06/2008 21:32

if you are really stuck and HAVE to go to work and DH CANT cope on his own

then would advise ringing tinies, they have emergancy nannies, though obv would cost you a days wages for nanny £80 - 100ish plus tinies fee

or any other agency in your area

can a friends really not help you out for 1 day?

moocowme · 25/06/2008 21:32

DP really could not do it for a whole day. some men just are not capable of these things.

Eff off and mind him yourself, and welcome to the real world.

There.

Said it.

nbee84 · 25/06/2008 21:33

BTW am registered with Tinies Herts but not currently on the list for ad hoc cover.

Desiderata · 25/06/2008 21:36

What 'City' firm does he work for, moo?

Just so I know who not to entrust my money with.

ranting · 25/06/2008 21:36

Of course he's capable, he's not 5, is he?

imananny · 25/06/2008 21:38

you have had 2 offers of help from nutters friendsly helpful people on here

email them and get tel no and call them both

if you were near me, i would offer my services

I work mon, tue and wed, and then my local agencies know i am free (if not booked up )for emergancy childcare for thur/fri

seems you have 3 choices

  1. take day off yourself
  2. get dh to look after his son
  3. try someone on here/ring agency
ranting · 25/06/2008 21:39

Rofl at nutters

squeaver · 25/06/2008 21:39

Moo - if you want my advice, I'd spend a bit less time defending your husband/situation on MN and get in touch with some of these kind people who have offered to help you.

pointydog · 25/06/2008 21:39

stop moaning on here and get it sorted

Aitch · 25/06/2008 21:39

certainly am amazed that someone would consider a complete stranger over the child's father...

it's a shame, you're clearly a long way from your folks, which is a nightmare. but that means dh has to pedal harder and be more capable of supporting you, he can't just step to one side and leave everything to you.

this will come to a head, mark my words.

JeremyVile · 25/06/2008 21:40

So this baby has 2 parents and not one of them can wrench themselves away from work to care for it?

Sad, sad state of affairs.

funnypeculiar · 25/06/2008 21:41

he has an important job in the city but is not 'capable' of looking after his own son for 8 hours

moocowme · 25/06/2008 21:41

what time do you think I hould call a few people in the morning? is 7am to early?

OP posts:
Desiderata · 25/06/2008 21:42

You both obviously have very well paid jobs. You're both very important.

No one thought to make a contingency plan for when CM got fed up, sick?

Take the bloody day off work, woman. Nothing's that important, unless you're Dr Who.

pointydog · 25/06/2008 21:42

ok. This is not a serious thread.

Desiderata · 25/06/2008 21:43

This is a wind-up

nbee84 · 25/06/2008 21:45

If I was to be working tomorrow I would rather be called tis evening - having said that I think it would be a bit late for you to call my current employer (for telephone reference)

Think your best bet if you are really stuck is to call agencies (unsure what times you could call With an agency you will know that you are getting a reputable nanny.

imananny · 25/06/2008 21:45

what time do you think I hould call a few people in the morning? is 7am to early?

who are you going to call? agency?friends?

i would get off Mn and call them now - un;ess you can multitask as I can

SNormaStanleyFletcherInit · 25/06/2008 21:46

nbee84 · 25/06/2008 21:47

And to be honest with you, if I were in your situation I would go the agency route as someone that offers help on here could be anyone!

DaDaDa · 25/06/2008 21:47

Is this some kind of pathetic anti WOHP wind up? How hilarious.

Surreynanny · 25/06/2008 21:48

Well I don't feel very nutty today and if you contacted me before it was too late at night I could have given you handfuls of numbers to reference with including an agency who would vouch for me being decidedly un- nutty but it's getting a bit late for calling my clients now and you can't be that desperate or you would have emailed I presume. Hope you find what you are looking for.
