Would I get a Nanny to do this job?

And how much would I be expected to pay? We have four DC's 2-10yrs. At the moment it would be between 30 and 40hrs. In Sept the littlest would go to pre-sch in the morning, so the hours would reduce again and then in Jan the second youngest would go full-time sch. Then the following sept the littlest would go ft at the sch nursery 9-3 and Oldest would go to secondary sch so would need to have someone to come home (which is one of the factors into thinking about a nanny)....
I guess my last q's is how long do you normally retain nanny's for? I would hope to for at least 2.5 yrs??

We have had our nanny for six years since DD was 7mths. She is leaving in the autumn to go home (she is from E Europe) and we're all dreading it.
As the dcs have grown up, the load has certainly lightened. DD is at school now and DS at nursery school a few sessions a week. She also works 4 days now instead of 5. We pay the same though, or even a bit more (annual rise) and in return our nanny is much more hands on with their laundry, household food shopping, errands etc. We also get one babysit included a week which is worth weight in gold.
We wanted to keep her pay up and in return she has been happy to help out around the house. We neither of us take the other for granted, which is why I guess this has lasted so long.

No joy hunting for what employers of live-in nannies in Cornwall are offering. Found some ads, but they just say "negotiable".

Could you try advertising without giving an indication of how much you would pay, and ask applicants of their salary expectations?

NannyTax Wages Survey 2007 indicates that Live-In Country average is 268 net per week.
