Waiting for mindees to arrive, Good morning to you and everyone else who comes in.

MaureenMLove · 12/03/2008 08:19

Morning all! I was scared to open the curtains this morning, in case everything had been blown away! Jeez, its windy! Got to take my car for a service this morning. So I'm off any second and then walk to school. Then I'm coming home to paint DD's dolls house. She's got one of those 12th scale posh doll houses, which is more like a peice of furniture really and like a real house, it could do with a lick of paint! See you after 9!

eleanorsmum · 12/03/2008 08:33

morning all. am debating whether to drive to drop in or risk walking in the wind! only one in a buggy today and dd hoping on and off the back! other lo is still poorly - mum keeps saying teeth but thinking bug! politley suggested trip to docs today as it's day 5 of being poorly, but he's ok in himself.
made large batch of choc crispy cakes yesterday, am off to buy mars bars today to make some more! have hidden them well in the kitchen and dd seems to have forgotten we made them bless. really hope it doesn't rain too hard on saturday for said egg hunt!
so walk or car, walk or car, wlak or car mmmmmmmm excerise good for me but trees dangerous!

southernbelle77 · 12/03/2008 08:43

Morning all! Am waiting for mindees here too at moment. Think I might have to do another quick sweep around as dd and toast were a messy combination this morning!

Going to make bread rolls with them all this morning. Then maybe easter masks later if I can find all the things I need!

DD still not right so not sure she will be going to preschool this afternoon. Will keep an eye on her. She's lying on the sofa under a blanket again at the moment which is most unlike her

EM - I'd drive! There will be plenty of nice days to walk, no point risking the wind!

Hope service on the car goes ok Mo. Is it on the new car?

OP posts:
crace · 12/03/2008 08:54

EM - how did you make your crispy cakes in the end - can you share your recipe?

Hi ML - how's things?

Mo -hope all ok on car

SB - poor dd Hope she gets better soon!

I've got my usual two but finding this week very hard for some reason. I am convinced it's the stress of things yet to come with baby and DH going off to America. He's got to go in early April for a week too and it's really getting me down. 1) that's MY home and I can't go home as too late for me to fly now 2) how nice and easy for the daddies to swan off to wherever they need to huh? I just don't understand it really - he's got to go in April for part work/part personal as he needs to go back to renew his VISA in the States in case we ever want to move back. Frankly if that were me, my children would be coming with me. He's stopping by the NY office while there but still - I would want my kids with me. I don't get it.

MaureenMLove · 12/03/2008 09:02

Oh, I just blew in from the windy city, the windy city is mighty pretty!

Car's fine, I hope. Just thought it would be a good idea to have a service done now, rather than run anything into the ground before the MOT is due.

I'm going to have half an hour on here, then I'm going to paint the outside of the house! Dolls house that is!

KaySamuels · 12/03/2008 09:06

Sorry you are feeling fed up crace, I can see your point entirely.

I am fed up today I text all the parents last night to say I could work today, then ds woke me at 6am being sick! Obviously I have told them all I can't work again today but reaaly felt bad about it.

I am also panicking about finances, we just can't seem to get on track, DP been made redundant twice in last 12months and is now doing a rubbish pay job miles from home. I just can't seem to earn enough.

Sorry to go on but it is really getting me down and I am so fed up of worrying and struggling.

dmo · 12/03/2008 09:21

feel really bad for you Kay wished you lived near me!
its windy here too and raining but at least you get to school quicker
putting on some toast in a mo if anybody wants some

KaySamuels · 12/03/2008 09:42

Thanks dmo {grabs toast}

On the bright side at least ds being ill means no school runs for me! (Although losing two days pay puts a dampener on it tbh).

looneytune · 12/03/2008 09:51

Morning all

Not been about as much as not had much time with the new kiddies plus in the evenings I'm far too tired to bother atm!

Belle - poor dd, hope she feels better soon!

mumlove - morning!

Ellie - no way would I walk anywhere I didn't have to in this wind, I had trouble keeping the pram down this morning!

Mo - enjoy painting the dolls house, sounds fab!

crace - totally understand why you feel down Remind me when you finish work?

Kay - that's happened to me too and it's embarrassing isn't it, but can't be helped! Feel for you on the finances, we've certainly felt the pain of dh's latest redundancy (his 4th time!). Hope your dh gets something better soon and that you manage to get some work, so stressful isn't it!

dmo - toast would be fab please - with marmite!

Well, I'm in a good mood this morning! Ofsted agreed to my variation in September to keep current tiny baby once my baby arrives therefore having 2 under 1 until December. I phoned last night and was told it's very unlikely unless it was twins blabla and I told the nice (but robotic) telephone staff that I'm fully aware of the rules but could they please speak to inspection support team who are looking at my 'case'! Got phone call approving it this morning Now it's time to freak out......on those 3 days I will have 8ish week old, 8 month old, 19 month old, 4 year old and 5 year old. Please tell me I'll be fine with 3 aged 19 months and younger!!! (don't worry, I KNOW I can do this! )

Right, time for a cuppa me thinks One in bed and other refuses to play with me at the moment as she's now 12 months old and a 'grown up' who can do things for herself!!! (currently trying to put her shoes on! lol)

Have a good day everyone.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 12/03/2008 10:07

looney - there's no way i could cope with all those babies/toddlers you must be a very organised and capable lady
i only tend to have two mindees and ds at a time and find that plenty hard enough

crace · 12/03/2008 10:11

Kay Much sympathy - it's so hard. There is nothing worse than financial problems.

Hey dmo!

LT - I finish up 2nd of May (7 weeks Fri but who's counting??) and it's not soon enough. Too much to do, too much to worry about. Seeing my GP on Tuesday as I am worried about the amount of anxiety I am carrying around with me and the inevitable PND (had with previous two) and want to nip it in the bud before it's an issue. By any means possible!

Congrats on the variation! You CAN do this!

KaySamuels · 12/03/2008 10:11

LT you are a mad woman but we knew that already!

I am hoping things pick up in the samuels household soon, thanks for the support.

Good news on your vriation. I emailed a copy but it wasn't signed, so posted a copy then an email arrived telling me where to send a signed copy and it is a different address to the one I sent to! I am just waitng fr them to tell me whether or not it will get processed properley where I have sent it. Everything seems like hard work this week!

looneytune · 12/03/2008 10:26

OMG ......just had a right fright.....fence panels have just fallen and hit the playroom, what a bang. 2 are leaning again it now and there's nothing I can do. Just went out to investigate and one has made a dent in the frame of the conservatory The other hit the glass but thank god it's double glazing!! I tired to move them but the wind is too strong and being pregnant and kids in the house, I can't risk it!

Violet - the way I see it, it's the same kids as have now but one of them just happens to me in me atm Therefore if I can lug these kids around now whilst pregnant and suffering with walking etc, hopefully I should be fine

crace - I'd be counting!! I can see why you'd want to speak to the Dr. I had it bad after ds and told the midwife I was terrified of getting it again, especially in this job. She said the main thing was to be positive through the pregnancy (I had lots of horrible stuff going on when pg with ds like parents splitting, dad trying to top himself, mum disappearing etc etc). I did feel positive when I could i.e. after the worries of loosing baby but then dh loosing his job but a bit strain on relationship etc. and it's been hard. I'm trying to be as positive as I can and I THINK that's all you can do hun! Totally understand your concerns though.

KayS - best of luck! Keep us posted.

ROSEgarden · 12/03/2008 10:36

yone, so sorry to hear your still having a rough time Kay, i 'really' hope something good does happen very soon.

Crace, its not fair is it..i think most men are the same, we give birth therefor we do most of the work for a life time..we wouldnt think twice of hopping of weeks after baby born to work/socialise..unfortunatly, thats the way a lot of peoples lives are..you are getting family help tho arn't you? while he's away?..could you get it for longer/earlier/later than agreed?what about people close to you(in vacinity) so you dont have family treading on your toes, can nieghbours/friends help out?/.

Hi to everyone else, sorry the winds ravaging your garden loony, am hoping our fence stays put but is wavering badly..that on top of kitchen mess would explode my brain!

mindee fast asleep and snoring as shes full of cold!, off do get lunch ready then to nursery, not venturing further today, too crazy out there..see you all later, hope you all have a better day

MaureenMLove · 12/03/2008 10:37

Leave them LT. They are better down than up atm. All my recycling boxes are being flown around in our side alley as we speak, but there's no point sorting them, it'll only happen again. My lights are flickering now, we thought we were going to get a power cut on Monday, so I'm on standby again. Typically, I'm stuck in, on my own, without a car! Garage won't even be able to phone me if the power goes down! I'll have to top up my mobile and ring them!

ROSEgarden · 12/03/2008 10:39

no mindees today then Mo?..sod the hosue apinting, go pamper yourself, nice bubble bath, pluck your eyebrows(no i cant see yours but mine are like tree trunks so thats what i'd be doing[smile[), face mask, cup of coffe with biccy's

southernbelle77 · 12/03/2008 10:49

Gosh, you all seem to be suffering more with the wind than me! We had it much worse on sunday/monday than today. I hope you will all be ok.

Mindees and dd having a snack at the moment so it's nice and quiet

We've made our bread rolls - not sure you can call them rolls mind as they did make them themselves so they are rather odd shapes!! Still, shows the parents that they did do it themselves

OP posts:
vInTaGeVioLeT · 12/03/2008 10:54

i'm still lounging around in my dressing gown as no mindee till 12pm

could really do with filling some of my spaces but there are so many c/m's locally - hoping to be starting a 1 yr old in aug/sept which will be good . . . . keeping my fingers crossed - i love that age too

mumlove · 12/03/2008 11:01

The wind is bad here too, but have had lots of lovely sunshine now the black clouds have started to appear!

ROSEgarden · 12/03/2008 11:26

am worried about my elderly neaighbours wondows, they are rotton, huge(i mean 3-4 inch) gaps at top where they have slipped out of rotton frames)(they have money BTW, so do their children, so dont know why they are still like this)

the bedroom one i can see from our upstairs bay is now wobbling about as the masking tape(yes i kid you not) that was bridging the gap between window and frame has come unstuck..not to sound awful, but will the windows blow 'in' or out????, its just i have to get the children out in an hour, get everyone outside, come back in and lock up..then come home with baby and do whole routinwe again for home school run..am concerned it will blow into my garden and hurt one of the children

MaureenMLove · 12/03/2008 11:50

You know what? I've never, ever plucked my eyebrow! I don't look like Dennis Healy though, so don't panic! They are so fair, there seems to be no need. Every so often, I do try, but it hurts too much!

I assume the windows will blow in, if the force is on the outside, but inevitably there'll be some that come out.

Garage has phoned. Just need a couple of new tires, so I've agreed to that and sit tight for a bit longer. Getting bored now actually. I want to go and buy some more paint for the house!

crace · 12/03/2008 12:22

Girls - how do you colour eggs? Is it just a few drops of food colouring with some hot water and vinegar? Submerge and leave, then leave to dry? Hard boiled first of course!

MaureenMLove · 12/03/2008 13:01

I don't bother with the vinegar tbh. Did know you had to! Just couple drops of food colouring and water. Have fun!

eleanorsmum · 12/03/2008 13:09

quiet time for em at the moment, mindee sleeping after energentic morning and dd at pre-school. am re-typing my permission forms all onto one set of pages to save me printing out lots every time.

Looney + Crace - please tell me what you have done re cm cover while you're off? one of mine won't know her days till july so can't look till then (i keep a full time place for her but she's a friend and did me huge favours when starting out so ) but my other needs fridays as of now and then full time from when i give up - probably sept ish. have asked a few cm's i know but they don't want to do fri's for a full time space in sept now! i don't want to tkae on fridays as i need the rest [wimp] ! my after schooly is only until july when he goes to secondary school. so do i need t find care possiblities or should i stop feeling guilty!
