And what a windy one it is!
I've been up since about 4.30am as the wind is so noisy and I can hear bins and things falling over all over the road!
Was going to pop into town this morning to get a few bits I need before my interview this afteroon, but I don't think I will be going anywhere looking outside! I'm hoping it might calm down soon!

We are very windy here! Yikes. Have two coming today but the usual half day and then I need to bring dd to the gp as she is getting gunky eyes and I want to preempt the dread CJ. They are red already, so no doubt it's on it's way. It never ends!

eleanorsmum · 10/03/2008 07:30

windy here too, trees down etc on dh's way to work so he's gone m4 instead. garde looking very battered! Only one lo today, off to see a friend this morn.

Quick question - how long will chocolate crispy type cakes last? dd wants to make some today but we need lots for egg hunt at school on sat so was hoping they'd keep in airtight box? tia

mumlove · 10/03/2008 08:10

Morning everyone,
I didn't sleep half of the night because of the wind and rain. I am glad I tied some of the things down in the garden!

belle - goodluck with the interview.

crace - let hope it's not the CJ.

ellie - I usually say they last about 3 days max (really about 2 hours as get eaten).

have a lovely windy day.

KaySamuels · 10/03/2008 08:10

Morning
It's wet and windy here too! Have just emailed ofsted my variation request so need lots of mn vibes sent my way until I hear back.

Can you allhelp me on my thread when you get a minute? Thanks.

MaureenMLove · 10/03/2008 08:10

Morning girls. I've never been able to keep chrispy cakes for longer than a couple of hours tbh! I should think they'd be ok in an airtype box til Saturday though.

It doesn't appear to be too windy here. Very wet and I will have to get changed when I get back from school though! Got 4 schoolies to take to school and one pre-school, who's dad is a builder, so he thinks he'll be back in a couple of hours! It may be a very short cm day for me!

KaySamuels · 10/03/2008 08:12

I thought that too mml - anything cake like doesn't last in my house!

Sure they would be ok tho EM!

KatyMac · 10/03/2008 08:39

Morining all

It is chilly here

Are we all expecting wild children (with the wind)?

southernbelle77 · 10/03/2008 09:12

I'm back!! We had a power cut just after I posted and was worried it would be off all day but only a couple of hours so not too bad!

Hope dd is ok Crace is it's not CJ.

Don't think crispy cakes would last that long here, but that's nothing do with them being fresh or anything

Good luck with the variation Kay. Will look at your other thread in a mo.

Morning Katy. Hope your children aren't too wild! Think my lot will be today, if the first 15 minutes is anything to go by!!

Morning all, rare oppurtunity for me to get into the staffroom today, have DD3 off school with some sort of viral infection. Have got two mindees today who are busy playing with dolls and pushchairs etc. Some of the dolls clothes are starting to look grubby so will get mindees to "help" load them all into the washer - hopefully they will come out sparkly clean!

SB, hope your interview goes well.

Crace, hope your DD eyes clear up quickly. My Mum has viral CJ at the moment and is banned from our house!

EllieM, hope your garden survives the bad wind. I'm waiting for a tree in next doors garden to be blown over (hopefully not into our garden as it will flatten the play house and the trampoline) It's a very long story regarding said tree and cowboy tree surgeon.

Hello to everybody else I haven't mentioned and lastly well done Mo for getting your new job!

KaySamuels · 10/03/2008 10:26

I need to write a bit in my newsletter about communication. So if a parent doesn't need me to let me know. To let me know when they will calling in with my money each week (rather than 6pm on a friday after me chasing them all day), and so on. Any ideas how to put it tactfully??

One parent is great at this, other two are terrible. They seem to consider it a great inconvenience to pay me on time and seem to really resent paying me full stop. I am fed up of it.

Seems I have day off today. Older mindee is poorly (mum let me know this morning) and baby not turned up again with no call or text. So can have a lovely morning with ds.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 10/03/2008 10:30

hello wet'n'windy people!!!
got soaked walking the 10 mins to pre-school and back - so decided to skip group today as i didn't want to sit in soggy clothes and shoes in a cold church hall!
mindee happy playing with happyland farm

so far we've just lost one slate which was hanging off anyway - DP had to start work at 6am due to severe weather warnings

vInTaGeVioLeT · 10/03/2008 10:35

enjoy your morning kay is ds ok now?

i'm lucky with my parents i don't seem to have problems with payment - i have in contract that they pay me at pick-up on last day of minding for week, if they didn't pay i wouldn't mind the next week.[easy to say that in theory - i've never had to put it in practice]

crace · 10/03/2008 11:14

Hi girls, manic day here - more a Friday feeling, bickering/not sharing - blame it on the weather! Be back later!

KaySamuels · 10/03/2008 11:16

DS is fine at the mo but there will be major tears when I take him to nursery this afternoon. I wish I didn't have to go out it looks horrid! Vi - I say same to my parents, they just mess me about.

MaureenMLove · 10/03/2008 12:18

I'm done. Bad whether stopped work, where ever mindees dad was working , so he's collected already. He made me cry too! First of all he said, 'I hear you've got a job' So I gave him a stare and he said, 'alright, I meant you've got another job!' Then he said, 'she's dumping us babe!' to his dd. He was only joking and he is a very nice bloke! And it seems that there ARE parents out there who want to collect early, even if I am being paid til 4! When I waved goodbye, I got a tear in my eye. They are such a perfect family to have, if only one of you were closer, I would gladly pass them your way. Desparately gutted by this one.

MaureenMLove · 10/03/2008 12:22

I can spell weather really!

mumlove · 10/03/2008 12:30

Who gave us all this horrid rain and wind , 1 or the other I can manage but both at the same time!

3 mindees down today 1 school child and her younger sibling (gone to grannies today) and baby mindee didn't turn up I waited until 10am but then left as was meeting with other childminders got home to message on answerphone saying they were not comming as have no wipes to bring with them .

Having a lovely quiet lunch with 1 mindee before playing and then tackling the school run to collect DD.

Mo - sit down and put your feet up.

MaureenMLove · 10/03/2008 12:43

Just made the final phone call, to the parent I was dreading because she wouldn't take it well. She said, 'well, it ain't the best timing, but you've got to do, what you've got to do.'

MaureenMLove · 10/03/2008 12:47

Just read your post again ML. Not coming because no wipes to bring! That's an odd one. Would you not assume that the cm probably has a stash for just such an occasion?

mumlove · 10/03/2008 12:51

I think it was just something to say, I have had other excuses like we only woke up at 10.30am (what 1yr old wakes at that time), I cannot get him dressed etc, but at least I still get paid (mum goes to school and granny brings him to me).

LoveMyGirls · 10/03/2008 12:51

or stop at the shop on the way

I've only got dd2 and baby today, theyre both in bed and im about to have lunch and tidy up a bit

I've been doing a plan for what we'll be doing during the easter hols, feeling very organised and excited, i think the kids will love it

mumlove · 10/03/2008 12:55

Granny normally stops at the shop on the way to mine to get fresh milk, yogs and his jar of baby food, this is why I think she couldn't be bothered to come out in this weather.

MaureenMLove · 10/03/2008 13:00

I hoe they snap out of it before mindee is school age! We have a parent at school, who often doesn't bring her kids in on Mondays or when the weather is bad, because she can't be bothered to get out of bed.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 10/03/2008 13:13

OMG mumlove what a crap excuse!!

mindees lovely mum came and picked her up and did nursery drop-off so that me and ds don't have to get wet and offered to pay for a cab on way home from school run now that is a fantastic parent don't you think?

ROSEgarden · 10/03/2008 14:07

HiEveryone, am really sad today as ive had to spend all day(not working till after school) trying to sort out kitchen, just had builder in and he's quoted £1400 just to repair walls, floor and plumbing, then its plus units, work surfaces(rising damp), flooring tiles..and surveyor for insurance are meant to be a pack of awkward arses who quote as low as a 1/3 to what the actual cost will be..i so dont need this crap..off to tidy up the pick dd and mindees up..i need a magic wand, anyone got one going spare?
