Morning, opening us up. Dd up early but as she had gone to bed at 6pm last night, very slightly forgivable!

Nothing major planned today, just surviving lol

How are we doing?

Why, oh why did I make shakers and trumpets?

Mindees are now 'playing' their instruments along to the nursery rhymes that we are listening too!! Not that I can hear the songs very well amid all the 'music' they are playing

Still, kept them busy and amused and they are happy so what more could we ask for? Apart from a little bit of peace?

eleanorsmum · 06/03/2008 11:14

ooh thanks mo don't spend too long on it! we won't be filling it just yet as garden resembles a forest at the mo! dh's easter weekend job spoke to my friend this morn who said she's fine with picking it up but is it ok if it's next week sometime as she's busy all weekend? if so i'll give her your mobile no. if thats ok and she can arrange with you.

just got back from mad toddler session - annexe being decorated so all crammed in small room - too many of us and kids got fractious and so did i. came away early.

had bloods dodne this morn and now have to book my scan. have to do it myself (book it that is!) and they've given me a form for a local hosp not the one i intend to give birth in so i feel a few phone calls going on this afternoon!

southernbelle77 · 06/03/2008 11:27

Did the bloods go ok with mindees with you EM?
Where I am, scans are rarely done at the hospital that you have the baby! We are lucky that one of the local doctors surgeries are able to do scans now which saves time and money as the nearest maternity ward is 45 minutes away!

crace · 06/03/2008 11:34

SB, ha! You reap what you sew eh!? Good fun though, I bet

Hi EM - I have no idea why these things have to be so confusing, it's frustrating to say the least.

I love days like today, keeping busy with our little crafts and singing today. Hopefully out into the garden this pm if it stays nice, looks like rain is on the way.

That's fine Ellie, get her to ring or txt me and we'll sort it. Glad she's not coming too soon actually, I lost interest in cleaning it and went shopping for girl clothes! I've just bought 2 pairs of shoes! First time in about 8 years!

eleanorsmum · 06/03/2008 13:20

well done mo!

bloods were ok this morn - gave both mindees a biscuit while it was done and both very good. had taken dd to toddler group and left her with friend so only had 2 in the end with me!

just rang to make appointment but must be shut for lunch as had to leave a message. good to know others had scan at other places. when i was in wales in was all done at the royal gwent.

crace · 06/03/2008 13:42

Oooh shoes! Dressing up like a grown up?! How exciting Mo!

Em - My care is done all over the place. Surgery for the community midwife who comes on a weekly basis but is based out somewhere else.. then bloods and scans at the local hospital, and the labour ward is there too. All very confusing!

How much you want to bet it rains now? Mindee and dd asleep and just put out two loads of wet washing. Bet it's going to thunder it down now!

One mindee picked up 40 mins early so I feel a bit off schedule for some reason - 40 mins ahead of myself, feels a lot later than it is!

Nag nag nag Mo for the Easter list!

Shoe shopping, how fun! Can't remember the last time I bought some shoes for me! Well, apart from my crocs last summer

I'm wearing a skirt today as was feeling really bloated this morning and didn't want to wear jeans and everyone has commented on it today!

One mindee gone home now and other one is in bed and dd is at preschool so I'm enjoying eating my lunch in peace! Much much needed peace after our 'music' session this morning

I'll join you Crace - nag nag Mo for the easter things to do!

crace · 06/03/2008 13:57

SB - I think I am going to make hot cross buns with the kids, chocolate nests with eggs and an easter basket to take home over the next couple of weeks.

That Easter chick was an easy make too and parents all looked impressed at pick up today. Even added some yellow feathers I found in my art box - very flash. And the kids loved it. Good fun, lots of glue mess though! I used PVA but I think glue sticks would have been better for the toddlers to use. Mine are all dry though -conveniently!

just booked my scan - wed 16th april! dh will be off as he's teacher so can come too. yay! it's ok for this scan to be elsewhere but 20 week one will be at my birth hosp. this one is quite convient though. not sure if we should take dd, she doesn't know yet and we thought we'd tell her after the scan and show her the picture etc and tell her all about it, but maybe she'd like to see it? concern really would be her reaction to me if anything was wrong as i'd be a gibbering wreck, so maybe best not to take her and just show pic. gosh confused! not much to see at this one anyway, except that i'm huge already so maybe it's twins.................

MaureenMLove · 06/03/2008 14:25

God, bossy aren't you!

Right then.

You could make paper plate chick masks. Paint yellow and cut eye holes out. Stick an orange triangle on for a beak.

You could cover a balloon in tissue paper or newspaper, then cut in half, like and egg. Fill it with mini eggs.

You could draw on real eggs (raw, boiled or blown!) in crayon, then dip in food colouring & water mix. The colour will only dye the bits without wax on.

You could make bunny rabbit finger puppets.

Easter bonnets.

Those Easter cards with the little chick in the middle with a moving beak. (I'll find a link for that one!)

Will that do for now!

MaureenMLove · 06/03/2008 14:26

Oh hold on, you could do the same for a bunny with a paper plate, except paint it grey and stick some long ears on!

MaureenMLove · 06/03/2008 14:30

Crace, have you tried glue dots? Dead easy to use. You can pre-stick one side onto whatever you're doing and then the kiddies can peal off the other side. Sticks to virtually anything instantly, including craft foam and no mess either!

Mum2Luke · 06/03/2008 16:08

How can they be unhygienic, unless you drop them in the loo first? What did Blue Peter use then - yes loo rolls - and we kids never got dysentry or anything else.

Doesn't it make them soggy put them in microwave?

Well, it look as though I've lost yet another parent, I asked her what was wrong with my setting (so I could improve) and she said I had no other little ones! I explained I had just lost a parent in December as she had left work after having 2nd baby and couldn't afford 2 in a cm. How am I supposed to get work if people take this attitude? I have a 17 yr old, 14 yr old and 5 yr old, have got NVQ Level 3 Early Yrs, first aid etc, how much experience with babes does she need me to have? I look after an after schooly but i desp want a f/timer.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 06/03/2008 16:29

aaaargh

Lovely day but finished with my two having a mega fight in front of mindee, very upsetting for him, floods of tears and everything.

At least they are normally well-behaved in front of mindees.

mumlove · 06/03/2008 17:13

Finished for today , easy day on fridays 1 mindee during school time only.
Now have to make tea.

southernbelle77 · 06/03/2008 17:48

I'm sorry to hear that Mum2Luke. It is really hard isn't it. I don't understand parents sometimes. I remember how hard it was getting my first mindee when I registered as I has no experience of being a childminder.

Oh dear Boys! As you say, at least they are usually well behaved but not nice for you or mindee all the same.

I've finished for the week too! Have DD tomorrow (usually she is at grandparents) so have a friend and her LO coming over which will be nice. Shame the weather is looking so dreadful as I thought it would be lovely for them to go in the garden but never mind!

I've been having lots of fun playing with all my new Pamerpered Chef kitchen products this afternoon from my cookware party! If anyone need new kitchen things, you really should have a look on the Pampered Chef website or hold a party as their stuff is really fantastic!

crace · 06/03/2008 17:49

Awww, I have a warm and fuzzy!! One of my parents just came in and while talking about my replacement they said that they hoped they find someone who does as much stuff and cares for their lo as much as I obviously do. Waaahhh - give the hormonal woman a break but how LOVELY to be appreciated. It was the dad too, and I never ever get any input from my parents so it's so so lovely to hear it.

M2L - I am so sorry to hear that you are losing one, and for rubbish reasons. Hopefully it will be one of those it comes in waves and you will be turning them away! Fingers crossed for you ,but

Boys, I swear my kids are harder than my mindees but it's always the way isn't it? Bless their little hearts!

Mo, thanks much mucho ideas now!

to those who have tomorrow off!

Well, I've scheduled a playdate for my bday a week Friday. Lame, and not how I'd chose to spend my bday but it's something isn't it? At least I will have adults to moan to if DH doesn't deliver like I think he won't!

Eeek! Last parent to tell in about 5 mins. She will look at me with distain as if I am the hired help, but hey, I'm giving her more than my contract states in notice. He'll have to go to am/pm school club, won't he. Can't find anyone that'll have him.

MaureenMLove · 06/03/2008 18:19

Damn it! She sent nannie! Oh well, I'll have to phone her at work tomorrow.

Right, off to test out new George Foreman grill, that DH has been hankering after for months. I'm having salmon and they are having steak. Then I'm off for an exciting evening at a church youth forum meeting. Thankfully, it will only be an hour and I'll be home by 8.30. Laters ladies!

crace · 06/03/2008 18:42

Ack! Bet you had psyched yourself up for it too. (She has a nanny AND a childminder?? I was born into the wrong life)

MaureenMLove · 06/03/2008 18:44
