Tuesday - Staff Room

Um, whats going on everyone? Do people feel that in light of the recent slating of CMs, nannies and WAHM, we should close the staff room? In the old days we used to be open by 6.30, look at it now is nearly school run time. Did everyone just start getting really busy or are you all being cagey, to prevent backlash!

LOL

looneytune · 26/02/2008 11:05

Baby sleeping at last.

KayS & Rose - I agree with you there, I've noticed too that you don't get as much 'help/advice' as you used to and also asking a simple question can end up being thrown back in your face with lots of people judging. I don't tend to ask half as much as I used to tbh, shame really as that's why I used MN so much.

DMO - that's awful, agree with others to take it further! Poor ds

crace · 26/02/2008 11:07

LT - how did the feeding go, getting an EBM down her?

looneytune · 26/02/2008 11:10

crace - Just posted this on the other thread: YIPPEEEEEEEEEE, baby went straight for EBM in bottle for me and had 2 and quarter oz's

Right, off to make a cuppa and see what sweet stuff we have as I'm missing out on biscuits from childminder drop in (turned out they decided not to open today, I was about to leave when someone else called from the car park to tell me no-one was there so I rang someone and found out they'd decided not to have it today )

eleanorsmum · 26/02/2008 11:24

hi all. lifes good today, mindee sleeping (although still cried himself to sleep but needs good rest for toddlers this pm!), dd playing really nicely by herself with mr potaoe head, apparently he's a judge today (not sure wher she got that from but hey!) and I'm sat here on MN glowing with baby vibes!

glad everyone else ok atm, looney well done on baby taking ebm!

am on a mission for prams at the mo, does anyone know if they make one that takes a pram/carrycot and reclining pushcahir bit too? side by side or tandem. think i saw a mamas and papas one which would take my pram bit i already have, have asked the question one-bay so am waiting! any tips gratefully recieved!

MaureenMLove · 26/02/2008 11:40

I'm sure I've seen one like that EM you shouldn't have a problem.

My mindee is still sleeping! She went off at about 10.15, so that's nearly an hour and half. She usually only has 40 winks in the morning, so she must be extra tired today. I'll let her sleep as long as she likes, I think. Although, I'll will wake her at 1'ish, since she'll need lunch.

good day to all of you. I am around but mon, tues & wed are my busy days. Yesterday they were all excited about going back to school .

crace · 26/02/2008 12:47

We made those lovely handprint lilies - how gorgeous! We are making a homemade card tomorrow to go with it, a sunflower stolen on DLTK's site and glittered to death from the children. I am so excited, I love it when gifts go well and I know how much mother's day means to one of the mums so I am hoping she's really touched!

I am living vicariously as DH will no doubt ignore the day Same ole same ole then!

crace · 26/02/2008 12:47

A pic of the kids in the sunflower I meant

MaureenMLove · 26/02/2008 13:31

I'm not bothering with Mothers day this year. Mainly because its Kbears 40th! I will nip to my mothers in A.M. fling a card at her and leave it to my BD to deal with her!

Hello! I'm knackered! First chance to pop in today as it's been busy busy busy!!

I've been a bit quiet this week cos of what happened last week (to me, not on here)

Mindee asleep now and dd reading so thought I would pop in!

Got a raging headache though so going again now!!

Hi everyone - sorry not got the energy to say hello to everyone seperately!!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 26/02/2008 13:49

hello everyone - yes i've noticed it's quiet here lately too - to be honest i'm finding a lot of mumsnetters extremely unhelpful and unfriendly these days - i find it quite hurtful the way you can get severely jumped on for having a different opinion.

all the regulars in here though are always lovely so i shall still pop in occasionally to catch up on the gossip - especially all the lovely baby news.

having a really stressfull and crappy time lately - not helped by having insomnia and ds waking early every day for 2 weeks . . . grrrr

ROSEgarden · 26/02/2008 14:25

mumlove · 26/02/2008 14:38

Just finished making another 2 sets of lillies with mindees for their mums. Now have to start getting ready to go to school. See you all soon.

mumlove · 26/02/2008 14:39

Well done rose , when you have finished please may you come and do mine!

ROSEgarden · 26/02/2008 16:20

I may not

MaureenMLove · 26/02/2008 17:32

Eeek! I've just remembered I've got an interview on Friday!!!!! What do I wear, I don't think my cm attire is going to cut it!

crace · 26/02/2008 17:47

Eeek Mo! Nice trousers, proper shoes, blouse? Too mumsy?

crace · 26/02/2008 17:49

Oooh well done Rose! I am thinking we will never be done here, I need to get rid of my family first I think. I adore my dc but they just require too much for me to just get stuck in. Oh well, it will get done, next year! Whatcha going shopping for?

crace · 26/02/2008 17:51

Hi Violet, don't be a stranger! Don't let them scare us off

SB - poor you, hope you feel better soon

DD and I had an hours nap together just in time for ds to come home from school and then off to the optician AGAIN for his specs that he has broken THREE times. He's 11 for goodness sakes. They keep replacing the frame for free - that's one fabbo thing about NHS glasses programme for kids.

MaureenMLove · 26/02/2008 17:58

I've got black trousers and decent boots. I'll go and buy myself a blouse tomorrow, I think. I don't need a jacket as well, do I? I've got a decent black wool coat, that is smart enough to wear over the top. I might have to post in Style for some blouse tips!

tbh - I don't think that in general people 'value' childcarers

I think people value the one they use/used/are going to use but as a 'subspecies' (wrong word I know) respect isn't really there

I was a runner-up in a business award and a finalist in another & people just weren't that interested at all the events I went to

I think it's really sad as we help to form the next generation

crace · 26/02/2008 18:49

Mo, sounds good to me, trousers, boots nice top will do the job nicely. It's in a school after all - you would dress similarly day to day wouldn't you?

Katy - most afraid to start another debate about childcare I do think it's terrible that you feel under valued after all the effort we KNOW you put in. I guess all we can do is what we are doing, and caring enough to do all these things we do for ourselves and the little ones we care for, and about. Parents are lucky to have a c/m like you, whether they know it or not!

ROSEgarden · 26/02/2008 19:42

Hi Crace, i need t shop for some new clothes, hate shopping(being 18-20 shopping just isnt fun, its more like ill buy what fits me..so for the time being while i have mon and tues free ill try and find a few bits by going to town on my own with no dp or dd badgering me to hurry up..its my birthday at the end of next month so will call it my early birthday present

Had a crap afternoon..missed dd since she went back to schoolon monday after half term, but it seems as soon as i pick her up shes all arsy and moody, snapping at me and a real attitude considering shes 4 almost 5..same old same old with food ie winging she doesnt like this, cant eat that(even though we were doing really well on star charts)..tonight she'd either snapped or cried(after ive shouted at her for snapping)..then daddy comes in and the world is rosy..dd runs towards him as he comes in "Dadddddyyyy", hugs, kisses, cuddles and theres me stood trying to get tea done, put washing out and clear away from our tea while they catch up and have fun..bloody fed up with this[sa]d

MaureenMLove · 26/02/2008 20:14

Aw, its a daddy's little princess thing! Sadly, it'll be a long time before she grows out of it, if ever! DD is like it now. They have their own little in jokes and TV progs that they watch and I'm not involved! You have to get used to it I'm afraid. Do you think maybe todays outburst is more to do with being back under complete control by school rules, after a week off? She's probably knackered too.
