Tuesday - Staff Room

Um, whats going on everyone? Do people feel that in light of the recent slating of CMs, nannies and WAHM, we should close the staff room? In the old days we used to be open by 6.30, look at it now is nearly school run time. Did everyone just start getting really busy or are you all being cagey, to prevent backlash!

MamaG · 26/02/2008 08:25

They've opened it Mo, but I understand they've asked MNHQ to block your settings so you can't see it

MaureenMLove · 26/02/2008 08:27

Buggers! I shall post here on my own all day then. And I will not explain myself to anyone. I might have kids today, I might not, you will never know!

Just doing the school run (oops! I think I may have given the game away! )

MamaG

I was wondering that too Mo, we've been very quiet and no doubt it's because of what's been going on. Sad.

scottishmummy · 26/02/2008 08:40

well it was a CM who rattled everyone's cage with her post.no CM/Nanny backlash from me just an acknowledgement some bampots one's out there. but in fairness many other CM all contributed in a worthwhile manner, adding a balance

crace · 26/02/2008 08:50

Yes, scottishmummy, it's true - and she'd still be welcome here but it's lost it's.... innocence? This "Staff room" is just meant to be a place to come "hang out" like all of the others. The Bar, Sanctuary and all that.

Well hopefully it will start up again, it seems like everyone was up for a fight. Full moon!

Well, girls and boys - off to play with my mindee who has just arrived (late) and leaves mid day and then off for a nap. That wind we had kicked the dogs off who then woke me up and thanks to pg insomnia, dh's snoring and dd's coughing I was up from 2.30 tossing and turning. Yes, I am whining. Again.

crace · 26/02/2008 08:51

Hopefully the Staff room will start up again, that is. NOT another AIBU thread, I meant. Ick - I will get my coat.

looneytune · 26/02/2008 08:51

Mo - I've been in the 'other' staffroom, didn't realise you couldn't see it

No, seriously, I'm not hiding because of what happened, I have no need to as it never affected my work or anything!! I just happen to have 3 new babies now so every day of the week I have a new one and the new routine is still being sorted so of course I don't have the 'all having naps' thing going on as often atm. Also, it's been half term so some may have been quiet because of that? Ds back today and dh is currently taking him in whilst I eat marmite crumpets with my cuppa before having a shower . Well, he did walk out on his temp job last week so with no money and finances being pretty desperate, he can at least help me out and save my poor old pelvis!!

Got my tiny baby arriving at 9.30am and I'm desperately hoping she'll take EBM from a bottle today (you may have seen my thread yesterday explaining why???)

Anyway, off to clear breakfast stuff and get baby bits out then shower before baby arrives. Will be popping out to childminder drop in then be back for lunch then baby gets picked up at 2pm. I get a whole half hour til I have to do the school run and then I just have the 2 x 4 yr old after schoolers to deal with Quite an easy day if little baby is ok today - wish me luck with the bottle thing!!!

Byeeeeeeeeeeee

KaySamuels · 26/02/2008 08:53

Hi

I noticed the staffroom has been quiet too, but have only been popping in infrequently myself. Trying to come on MN less in general, even on weekends as I think I need to!!

I will only have one littly this aft and ds at nursery, trouble is the littly I have loves other kids company so may pop to the park or something.

scottishmummy · 26/02/2008 08:58

if it is virtual staff room do you have your own virtual seats, pay tea money, ponder who eat all da biscuits

looneytune · 26/02/2008 08:58

Just a quicky as I never did contribute to THAT thread and would like to just add my bit very quickly........I personally do think the way the OP put her message across was wrong and opinionated. It's very possible there was a lot more to it and she'd had a terrible day and yes, being 8 months pg etc. would add to it BUT just reading the OP alone, I didn't personally agree with it. My first ever mindee used to come to me from 8-6ish yet her mum didn't start work (locally) til 11am, instead she went to the gym then showered and casually got ready for work. She wanted to get fit/loose weight etc before her wedding and I had no problem with that, her dd didn't suffer, she LOVED coming to play with ds. The only thing I don't agree with is when parents tell their kids they are coming early etc. and then let them down but in all honesty, as long as I'm paid and the children are happy, that's all I care about.

I do however think some of the comments about CM's in general was uncalled for and did upset me a bit. Luckily I only skimmed through the thread!

Right, really am off for my shower now

crace · 26/02/2008 09:02

Yes, Mo's the seat in the corner, she can usually be found facing the corner on the "Thinking" stool. Teehee

KaySamuels · 26/02/2008 09:03

I don't know if it is because of the full moon or not but MN has been rather judgey judgey lately IMO and I have been trying to stay clear of said threads.

dmo · 26/02/2008 09:26

hi guys
well i'm not saying anything (cause my mouth is full of biscuits and tea )

dmo · 26/02/2008 09:28

oh just remembered why i popped in
i am making mother day gifts today using empty baby food jars, but the jars have been soaking overnight in water but are still sticky how do you get the sticky off? i have no wd40 does hairspray work?

MaureenMLove · 26/02/2008 09:32

Be very careful where you sit in here ScottishMummy, there's something going round. Ir might be catching. We currently have 3 pg minders in here! Of course, if you want to be pg, go ahead. Personally I can't think of anything worse! That and the fact it would be a medical miracle!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 26/02/2008 09:46

dmo · 26/02/2008 09:47

BoysAreLikeDogs · 26/02/2008 09:48

MaureenMLove · 26/02/2008 09:53

God that's awful DMO! Personally, I'd take it higher and speak to someone at your local Education dept. That cannot be allowed to go on.

Hi All, DMO def take it further if school are being so bloody ignorant about it!..its bad enough the children bullying but a teacher!FGS

LOL at Crace and Mo's thinking stool...yes she's has moved on a bit since the naugty step hasnt she!

Not working through day again today, juts got school pick up at 3pm, yesterday was fab, took dd and mindee tos chool for 9am, 2 mums rang to say they would pick up their dd's after school as they were off/finished early, then last mondee's dad was in when we passed on way home so she wanted to go straight home(he said she can do this if he's in)..so only worked less than 2hrs yesterday and still got paid full..also managed to cadge a beautiful handmade fireplace of mindees dad who's getting something totally different, its made from solid oak and he made two of them himself, carved, sanded etc...cant wait...dontcha just love nice parents..right..where's that paint brush..byeeee....

oh oops, reg it being quiet lately, ive noticed it too and noticed if you ask for help with anything(not just in staffroom) you often dont get it anymore(just sometimes), i come on here if im stuck on something but as there are fewer acknowledgements or replies these days, im weaning myself away
