I think actually a period of unemployment on your CV looks better than a job you only stayed in for 3 weeks.

These people sound like they would be be very nice employers. I think you did the right thing.

Goodluck finding a nicer family to work for.

Hi all,

A positive thread from me

Sorry have not been on much recently..my nanny share for 2 families became 3 families...so 3 babies (not all at the same time obv) and my 2 children...also been doing some sleeptraining and night maternity nannying recently so have been VERY VERY busy.

I love my job.... what you have to remember ladies is that while between jobs being a nanny is really cr*p when you get a job that you love its the most amazing career ever...so hang on in there, you will all find your perfect jobs!

Jenna

I only temp now as it is so much easier. I am in charge of who I work for and on what basis - It's lovely!

JennaJ · 16/03/2008 12:59

Ohh I agree Phraedd its fab isn't it

Had a wierd one on Monday night.... amongst other odd stuff I woke up at 4.30am and the dad was in my bedroom (I was sharing with baby) looking at me...freaked me out, hadn't even met him as was asleep when I arrived!!! Baby was soundo so hadn't come in to see him...said he was saying goodbye to baby before work but then went back to bed!!! Guess who cancelled the rest of her nights with them? LOL

anyoneoutthere · 16/03/2008 13:57

I am so fed up of families changing their minds on what their nedds are, not paying taxes and just generally treating us like crap. If i could do something else i would. Unfortunately, im 35 and nannying is all ive ever done so have no experience doing anything else

Oh yeah..... and where on earth are all the jobs?I am even askng for less money now, but there are just NO jobs!!!!

phraedd · 16/03/2008 17:08

That's a bit scary Jenna

Where did they get you from? If it was from an agency - you need to warn them

NannyDonna · 20/03/2008 15:40

Hi all
I have been in my new job now 3weeks and it has gone really well. The twins are beautiful and have taken to me fine, which has put the parents minds at rest.
Parent seem nice they are only in their 20's which makes me feel sooo old.
I have fallen asleep most nights for a hour as i am shatterd,i had forgot how hard it is looking after little ones!
It was my last day for 3weeks today as mum is a teacher. My son's school do not break up till 4th so i have 2WEEKS to do what i want and get paid for it.
hope things get better for those still looking for work.
Happy Easter.

Hi eleusis,

That is so sweet, bless her! They are both so absolutely adorable, I was tempted to smuggle them out when I left!! Made my day, thanks. Hope your new nanny is working out well.

New job is going so well, bosses are fab, got my contract last week, finally but they printed off the nannyjob specimen contract and I had a lot I disagreed with on that! We sat down, I explained why I disagreed and we changed the wording on some, deleted others and added some of our own, we now have a (rather long!) contract which covers us all.
The boys are gorgeous but bloody hard work! I am shattered. Although had a week off last week and looked after my first set of twins, who are now 10 and they are just as hard work but in a completely different way! Was a lovely week though and I had loads of big big cuddles and kisses (except when any of their friends where around, of course!)
