Morning!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just wondered WWYD.....mindee is just about to turn one and today I've done a finger food lunch (pita, carrot, cheese, cherry toms, pepper, lettuce, cucumber, ham). She's eaten certain finger foods for ages but usually given a spoon fed lunch and dinner so this is new. If baby carries on messing and chucking it about like they are, would you give in and find another food to give or would you leave it, give the fruit/yoghurt for afters but not offer another lunch as such? Not helping that I'm spoon feeding another baby similar age atm!

crace · 14/02/2008 13:24

To be honest, yes I would give them their regular food, perhaps try finger foods when it doesn't matter, ie. snacks etc? It's just practice isn't it right now. Are you worried about teaching that no eating = something else offered? Or am I way off the mark?

Down one mindee and baby mindee and dd down for a rest. I need a cuppa, busy busy am. But it flew by so great!

Just had lunch, mindee is now having a nap.
My other mindee didn't arrive before I left for toddler but got home to find a message on my answerphone that they have decided to go away so will not be back until after half term , that makes even more time that I can spend with just DD .
Also the sun is still shining long may it last.

southernbelle77 · 14/02/2008 13:29

How do you get rid of a very nasty and strong dirty nappy smell?!!

Mindee now down for a sleep but my house is very smelly right now and can't find anything that takes the smell away!

mumlove · 14/02/2008 13:30

Looney - I would still give spoonfed food and just decrease it once got the hang of finger foods. Start with 3/4 of spoon food and 1/4 finger food, then 1/2 and 1/2 etc, but over a longer period not just a few days.

mumlove · 14/02/2008 13:31

belle - you need to open up all the windows and let the fresh air in! Go and put on a jumper.

MaureenMLove · 14/02/2008 13:34

Have a fag, that'll take the smell away!

mumlove · 14/02/2008 13:36

Mo - might aswell make it into a joint then.

MaureenMLove · 14/02/2008 13:38

Yeah man! Looks like open window is the only option, then!

mumlove · 14/02/2008 13:44

Mo can I ask you a question Please.

My DD brownies sash is new and like cardboard, I've just washed it to see if it helps make it softer, can I tumble dry it?
We cannot even get the pin badges through it and had to borrow another childs when she made her promise.

crace · 14/02/2008 13:44

Mo and mumlove BEHAVE now, or at least SHARE! It has to be a virtual fag though. I only ever smoke when I am out on a big night, and the last time that happened I conceived said child. Enough to put you off big nights forever!

I always behave, I still have my glowing halo around my ankles

southernbelle77 · 14/02/2008 13:48

Bloody very cold! But smell is going, slowly!

Think I'd prefer the smell of dirty nappies to fags

MaureenMLove · 14/02/2008 13:50

Oo er! I guess it'll be fine in the tumble dryer. Alternatively sew a popper on each side and then you only have to put the badge through one layer.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 14/02/2008 13:50

Hi all

Been to Music Group then to my Mum's for lunch, greengrocer then back to mine for nap time. Phew

catch you later

mumlove · 14/02/2008 13:52

Thankyou Mo hadn't thought of that.

MaureenMLove · 14/02/2008 13:53

Stop this talk of smoking, I want one now! Oh, it was me that started it wasn't it!

southernbelle77 · 14/02/2008 13:54

It will kill you! Don't do it!

MaureenMLove · 14/02/2008 13:57

Mindee is going home in half an hour, I'll be on the decking before you know it!

MaureenMLove · 14/02/2008 14:05

Ah bless him! Mindee is playing on the piano and he just said, 'Mo, I'm singing a lovely song for you!' My one true valentine!

mumlove · 14/02/2008 14:07

That's lovley, it's a shame that they have to grow up.

southernbelle77 · 14/02/2008 14:09

I had to make dd a valentines card this morning! We were making them for everyone else and she was sad that she didn't have one! So I quickly printed one off the internet and put it in with the post for her! She was thrilled!

looneytune · 14/02/2008 14:13

Just a quick reply as I'm no time to read through......i was rushing earlier so not clear but basically, i wasn't given anything to feed her, this was my problem. just arrived today with a request to give finger food for lunch so when i mentioned giving an alternative, i meant as in other finger foods i had as i had nothing i could just give her without cooking which would have taken too long and was due a nap. anyway, i managed to get her to have more and then gave her a banana before she became deseperate for her nap.

best go, they've just woken up.

crace · 14/02/2008 14:44

Waaaahhhh I think my dd has given up naps. She refused one yesterday and I have been trying for the last hour to get her to sleep and no go. Mindee asleep and I used to get 1/2 hour to myself for a rest before they woke up. She's only 26 months (today!)

Ahhhh. that's that job jobbed! I'm done til Monday! House is spit spot, washing all done. Dd doing her homework with classical music playing in the background, dh chopping wood for the fire and I've got a pretty ribbon in my hair! Well, that last sentence isn't quite true! McFly is bursting through the ceiling and DH is surfing Ebay for boat parts!
