Morning all!

Rubbish day, weather wise. Just sharing crumpets with mindee, then off to get soaked on the way to school. I did have something to tell you, but it can't have been that exciting, because I've forgotten already!

We opened late, where is everyone? Mmm crumpets are so yum. Mo, what's the word on your hols?

Mucho busy day around here which is great because my daughter and I caught the cold my mindee had last week and I am crabby about it. But we aren't allowed to moan are we that we take in sick children. but I digress. Meeting at sons school and dragging mindee with me (yes yes parents know and are happy) then home for lunch, then out for a toddler group that runs once a month, then off to school for pm mindee and ds and the pancakes! Busy day 'round here and I am looking forward to it. Please let the day fly by!

Still haven't received stuff from the holiday company. Told HQ yesterday and they are going to chase it up. I hope I get something this week, I begining to loose interest now!

Morning. Ive just had a right fright. I was reaching into the fridge to get the milk to make porridge for breakky, and a cork from a bottle of wine flew out catching me on my thumb. On the bit where it joins my hand. It's agony. The bottle was half apricot brandy and half pressed apple juice that was made up by my SIL for christmas. He's a bar manager and made hot cocktails one evening. I loved this one, called Baked Apples so he made me a bottle up.

It's swollen and bruised, but I can move it so nothing's broken. Oh I did cry!

Got one sleeping mindy til 11.30 when I collect another.

Off to a Den building course this afternoon, then check up at the dentist at 5pm when they've both gone.

Owwwwww!!

Sally

MaureenMLove · 05/02/2008 09:11

Ow BM! That must really hurt! I wonder what caused that to happen. Perhaps its the apple juice fermenting. (Which reminds me, I've got 5 gallons of wine under the stairs that needs bottling!

OP posts:
BradfordMum · 05/02/2008 09:19

I think it must be. I poured it away and there was sediment at the bottom. It smelled ok though. Best not to drink it.

Sally x

crace · 05/02/2008 10:13

Yep sounds like fermentation, but OUCH. Poor you!

crace · 05/02/2008 10:14

Oh, and Mo you will let us know if we can help you drink that wine? When is it ready?

looneytune · 05/02/2008 10:19

Off to make a cuppa, need to sit and calm down after my scan. Will catch up with the thread when I've calmed down!!!

MaureenMLove · 05/02/2008 10:24

Calmed down about what!? What's happened? You haven't got twins have you?

The wine won't be ready until the summer, but I'll let you know!

Just got the post, still no holiday details. Its taken the shine off it a bit really. It was almost a week ago now and I have nothing to show for it. (Not MN's fault btw!)

OP posts:
looneytune · 05/02/2008 10:27

No twins Just convinced myself of what I was having and I was wrong, nothing major, just feel all nutty about it (must be the lack of sleep! lol)

MaureenMLove · 05/02/2008 10:31

So, is this information strictly for the two of you? Personally, I don't like knowing, it takes the fun out of it for me! (Got nothing else in my life, see!)

Hows the sinus problem today? Easing up a bit?

OP posts:
MaureenMLove · 05/02/2008 10:46

That's for Frany when she arrives. Non-cms are being mean to her and she needs a wuddle!

OP posts:
franyfroo · 05/02/2008 10:46

hi all. oh this is much nicer. and i don't need to moan anymore lol

MaureenMLove · 05/02/2008 10:52

Excellent! Everyone moans about their work and everyone does it behind colleagues backs at times too. The difference with minding is, you haven't got colleagues to moan to, so you take whatever avenue you can to let off steam! There isn't a day goes by, when someone doesn't have at least a little winge about one of their parents, it is natural.

Welcome, welcome. Its not very busy in here today actually, lots are down with rotten colds, lovingly given to them by their mindees!

ROSEgarden · 05/02/2008 11:06

Huulllloooooo...full of emulaion again!!..white this time, so bit of a change from magnolia..although magnolia WILL have to resurface cs ive strayed out of the edges..glossing in a bit, so will be manicly trying to scrub it all off before school run!

Hope your hand is ok BM?

Loony..hmm... let me think..you have a ds...you were having similar symtoms with your ds as you are having now?...so you thought you were having aanother ds?...and you didnt see a winkle?...so now you must be having a wickle girly??????

looneytune · 05/02/2008 11:41

Right, back now and catching up (my bro turned up so was busy).

Crace - oh no, god forbid we're human and have a little moan from time to time like everyone else!!!

Mo - hope you get the holiday details soon - you need to be able to look and get all excited!! As for baby, we wanted to find out for a few reasons but main one being for ds's sake. He has gone on and on about having a sister and we were worried that if it was a boy and he found out at the birth, it would spoil the moment if he reacted majorily disappointed!! Not bothered who knows tbh. Yes, sinus problem finally started getting better this morning. I managed to sleep for about 5 hours which was fab And no agony when I woke up, such relief!!!!

BM - ouch hope it feels better soon!!!

franny - I felt so awful for you on that thread, honestly, some people have no idea!!!

Rose - you're doing well! As for baby, no, the opposite. Different symptoms altogether and was convinced I was having a girl this time. Last time I was convinced I was having a boy and I just thought I was so sure this one was a girl for some reason. Anyway, I was wrong and I'm pleased we know so we can prepare ds .

eleanorsmum · 05/02/2008 11:59

been to get my new car fixed this morn (don't ask!) so spent an hour walking round a muddy car place waiting for them to fix bits. did see cool diggers sorting rubble - dd was impressed anyway, going to make digger pics tom now

hope everyones day is going ok

crace · 05/02/2008 12:23

Looney, another boy, great news! Well done, you know ds won't really care and they will grow up close so don't worry. This is why I haven't found out myself actually, not for my dc but for ME. I just want to be drugged and happy and told then, because if I am told one or the other I am not sure I can cope with it. Yes, I am a nutter

EM- NOOOO all ok with car?

Welcome frany, it's safer in here

Sooo just been to the gp re: numb hands. Just to be told the fingers that are numb are the wrong fingers for carpal tunnel and the test he did on my wrist didn't hurt, in fact felt WONDERFUL so they've ruled out CT. So it's the nerve that is connected to my back and neck so they've recommended me off for physio whenever/however that will happen! My neck/back is in agony but I figured I am pregnant, so get over it you know? Glad something is to be done tho!

looneytune · 05/02/2008 12:50

crace - Oh, I know ds will be just fine but also that he wouldn't be if we didn't prepare him It's thanks to all the girls I childmind that made him so sure he wanted a sister lol. Anyway, he's got PLENTY of time to get used to it! Sorry about your fingers, what a pita Hope you get your physio through soon. In fact, that's reminded me to chase mine as still heard nothing.

franyfroo · 05/02/2008 12:53

mch calmer now. everyone snoozing and sick baby has gone. mum very cross that i called but i said its all in my policy and he shouldnt have even been here yesterday.

nodoubt he will be back tomorrow, but if not better i will turn him away.

MaureenMLove · 05/02/2008 13:02

Some people! Despite what other non-cm's think, we will take children that aren't 100%, but the fact that there is only one of us, we have to consider all the children. You are not in the wrong Frany, stick to your guns!

OP posts:
crace · 05/02/2008 13:17

Frany, well done, and good for you for sticking to your guns. You are in the right here, don't let everyone else get you down about it. You are also setting the precedent here as well.

Ahh LT gotcha, well good, glad you know now but it must have been a shock. Bet ds got you thinking pink too huh? I just KNEW with my son and daughter they were what they ended up being, and with this one I am thinking girl, but longing for the boy for dh (my ds isn't his).

MaureenMLove · 05/02/2008 13:17

Right, I've got food ishoos today! I can't get enough! At 8am I had 4 crumpets with butter and marmite. At 11am I had to slices of toast and at 12.30 I had 2 cheese rolls and a huge bowl of grapes and I'm STILL pining after something to eat! I might have to have chocolate!

shoshe · 05/02/2008 13:38

Good afternoon, I actually feel halfway human today, even went to soft play!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 05/02/2008 13:39

blardy hell - i've lost my 1960's very basic(perfect 4 me!) cookery book - every year i have to look up the recipe for pancakes!! i've had a look online and here but every recipe is different

i think this is what i normally do -
100gr plain flour
2 eggs(med)
300ml semi-skimmed

whisk eggs into milk in a jug -
add gradually into lagrge bowl of flour whisking as i go

does that sound right?
