Pretty, younger, au pairs/live in nannies...

Okay, lighthearted question;

I just don't get this. I know not all of them are Scandinavian or Balkan hotties, but a fair proportion are...I'm just wondering, why would you do it to yourself..and your poor partner?

I can't be the only one thats thought it!

I had an 18 year old very pretty aupair and my husbands mates thought it was great - he couldn't stand her lol. Long story short, she married my brother and they moved to Switzerland, they've split up now but he's still over there.

It didn't bother me at all that she was pretty etc.. after all, I could have chosen an ugly girl with an amazing personality that ran off with my husband - looks aren't everything.

Yep, bit weird to think that I inadvertantly found him an internet bride!

But there is logic to it: a pretty young nanny is more likely to be used to flattering attention so a GREAT deal less likely to have her head turned by/even clock the attractions of one's perfectly nice but somewhat weather-beaten partner.

And, just subjectively, it's sort of nice to have a sparkly smile about the place.

i pick her up from the airport........out comes this size 8 brunette.....ow then sunbathed in my garden in hot pants and bikini top!!!!!

being a slightly larger size ;-) i found the first time she did this shocking!! but she was so sweet and truely unaware in the end it made me chuckle. she was so sweet. best AP we have ever had.

of course my family incl DH thought it was hilarious that I had picked her - all the way along i said i was looking for someone not good looking! serves me right!

theres no way she would have turned my DH's head - would have taken alot more than that - plus he values his manhood!!!

I have had some HOT AP's - one used to swan around in the tiniest denim hot pants I'd ever seen. My builder Never got any work done!

My DH just pretends he doesn't notice. I agree with Bink, as yummy as my nearly 50 yr old DH is, the stunning APs barely notice he is there - they are more interested in 20somethings.

Although we currently have a plump, unattractive, sullen French AP who has a thumping great obvious crush on my DH - now that really pees me off.

So back to stunners for me! Also agree with Bink that having a happy, young pretty face around the house is quite uplifting. (reminds me of my youth )

I trust my dp but no way would a young, good looking nanny come and live at mine!

I would never entertain the idea of a live in nanny anyway, but if i did she would have to be ugly

I know that she wouldnt probably fancy a 41 yr old bloke, but i would feel very uncomfortable with a sexy girl living with us. aNY normal bloke no matter what he says would look. i know i would be looking if Brad Pitt came to live at our house!!

To be truthful, i would be uncomfortable with anyone at all living with us. Dont like the idea of a stanger, whether pretty or not living with me sounds horrible.

I bet in these situations, it's never who you expect it will happen to, that actually 'runs off with the nanny.'!!! However, I must admit I wouldn't be especially keen to experiment. We had a gorgeous Lithuanian girl apply - I was a bit relieved I had a non paranoid reason not to interview her.

An AP agency near me is run by an AP who 'went off' with the DH and is not the stepmum to his children!

Cos trust is one thing Nanny, naivety another. I couldn't trust DP with a packet of chocolate biscuits!

I don't think there is anything wrong with not wanting to hire someone for that reason Harriet. It's your home.

Somehow we've always ended up with really quite unattractive AP's!!
Many moons ago when we got our 1st, all dh's friends and work collegues, were asking if she was gorgeous etc....pmsl

Hi ingles, yes still hear until 10th Feb. DS on second set of plastercasts now, could already see the difference to his feet after 1 week - Hurrah! He can walk fine and getting up to the usual mischief, thanks for asking.

I just spoke to dp about this nanny/au pair business and he said its bollocks if a bloke says he doesnt fancy a pretty one! Or not be joking about it to his mates!

No offence taken snappy. Dp is not a flirtatious bloke in the slightest, not a 'jack the lad' type or anything like that. He is only human and im not saying he would have an affair or anything but if a nanny was pretty then of course he would find her attractive. Just as i might find a young bloke attractive. I wouldnt feel comfortable with that.

ok that happens everyday, but i wouldnt want someone else of the opposite sex living with us!

Conversely, dh will not let me consider a male aupair, even though I was toying with the idea for a bit ...
