Okay, lighthearted question;

I just don't get this. I know not all of them are Scandinavian or Balkan hotties, but a fair proportion are...I'm just wondering, why would you do it to yourself..and your poor partner?

ingles, . Lucky escape for me, then

ingles2 · 26/01/2008 22:55

Oh yes...

Well a partner might say he wouldn't fancy a pretty young thing in his house, but that doesn't mean he really didn't fancy them. I think it would be very unusual for a bloke not to fancy them.

If there is one in your house who you do fancy, you're going to have to lie about it aren't you??

Monkeytrousers, Thats exactly what my dp said! Of course most men would say they dont fancy them so as not to hurt your feelings!

I know the kind of women my dp finds attractive so i would know he was lying anyway. To be fair though, he often says if someone is good looking , sexy etc, usually people on the telly though, so no threat! Just as i am always saying Brad Pitt, Frank Lampard etc etc are lovely!

And i dont buy it when blokes say they dont fancy Page 3 girls or the top 100 sexy girls in FHM! Blokes might pretend they dont like that type of woman cos its what their partner wants to hear, but i would think most men would find someone like that more attractive than plain Jane type. I think they are pretty myself, so why wouldnt a amn?!

Do pretty au pairs want old men with kids? And men fancy ugly women too. Men fancy women.

carmenelectra · 27/01/2008 12:05

Im sure most au pairs wouldnt want an old git with kids. And i know men also fancy ugly birds, but they are even more likely to fancy a pretty girl! However, i know for a fact, that my dp would not fancy an ugly girl. I know people have affairs with all sorts of people, but he wouldnt be attracted to her in the first place.

I never had any trouble finding work as a live in nanny when I was a twentysomething.

But then I do look quite a lot like Les Dawson.

carmenelectra · 27/01/2008 12:16

If i did want a nanny, then id have you , Les!

Monkeytrousers · 27/01/2008 17:08

Au pairs might want older men with status and money - kids are probably not a bit deal seeing as most don;t get/want full custordy anyway.

How else do you explain Donald Trumps success with younger women - of Snoop Dogs? Or any man who could give them leave to stay longer??

Agree monkey!Sounds like you and I are the only ones who wouldnt want a fit nanny

motherinferior · 27/01/2008 18:24

I'm with Bink (I usually am). A cheerily gorgeous young thing would cheer up Mr Inferior yet be highly unlikely to fall for his many charms (unless she was a nice young Bengali girl with a bit of a daddy-fixation ).

I remember a nanny who was shagging her boss and would often turn up in expensive clothes that belonged to the wife.

My boss at the time would ask me to tell my friends when they came over to swim to change in the bathroom not around the pool. Her dh had a sudden interest in gardening.

Squiffy · 29/01/2008 11:06

We had an amazing swede once...

My DH thought all his christmasses had come at once.

The AP thought everyone over 30 were 'dirty old men' or 'past it' and she clearly hadn't a clue that my DH (and my 70 year old dad, and my brothers, and the builders) clocked her figure and outfits all the time.

I never had a moments worry

Would be much more concerned about a frumpy AP who couldn't attract men her own age and was desperate for lurve.

Loved the comment about the "slave wages" - many of the candidates who applied the last two times I was looking for a nanny were much more suitable for a classical au pair ie supervised type role. Had some babysitting experience, but like years ago - and wanted £90 per day net.

MightyMoosh · 29/01/2008 21:07

Have to laugh at the bit in there about an obese au pair eating you out of house and home! As a big big nanny I cost next to nowt as I buy me own grub!

I was once asked to send a photo after appying to a position on gumtree- never heard from them again!
