Awwww peace!! DD is at preschool and mindee is in the cot hopefully going to sleep - although he's currently singing! He takes about 20 minutes to go to sleep so just leave him now! Used to go get him after about 10 minutes until mum decided she'd tell me that he takes that long at home too!
Drop in was good and mindee is coming out of his shell a bit more which is good.
I'm sat here eating the butternut squash soup I made and it's lovely and warming!
EM, if you're offering, I'll have a cookie after my soup
As for mash - would eat that every day if I could! Don't eat meat but would eat it with cold quorn and salad

MamaVonG · 17/01/2008 13:32

I don't even eat meat, at all, EVER!

apat from teh odd sausage

I like mash tho!

MaureenMLove · 17/01/2008 13:34

Excellent! I trust his career background has made him prepared and he's taken a pillow for his night at Heathrow!

shoshe · 17/01/2008 13:45

Mo he takes pillow EVERYWHERE, could sleep on a washing line, in fact once he was in a land rover that turned over, everybody got out but him, they thought he was unconscious, NO HE WAS ASLEEP!

MaureenMLove · 17/01/2008 13:46

I'm a bit like that! I can sleep standing up if I have to! That's why I have to be on here everynight, because if I sit, I sleep, unless I'm doing something.

shoshe · 17/01/2008 13:49

yep he can sleep in the chair every lunch time with all the kids shouting

Hello, i'm one of the irregular posters.....

A couple of things, firstly.... mash with cold meat is lovely, I'm a yorkshire lass and was dragged up on that, my mum use to fry the mash too...yummiee

Secondly, i have a 16mth mindee, how long do you think they should sleep as he's sleeping for about 3-4 hours in the morning (mum insists on a morning sleep), is this norm??

MaureenMLove · 17/01/2008 14:01

Hi Saz. I would have thought that if your mindee is OK with sleeping for that long, then so be it. It is a long time, but if he's awake the rest of the day and goes to bed without problem, then its OK.

Thanks for clearing up the meat and mash thing too! I was beginning to think I was odd!

looneytune · 17/01/2008 14:28

ADVICE NEEDED........HOW DO WE STOP MARNEY GOING ON AND ON??????

MaureenMLove · 17/01/2008 14:34

Oh dear! She's rather screwed up that thread, has't she! Does she post anywhere else? I'll go and have a look.

MaureenMLove · 17/01/2008 14:39

OMG! She's posted 70 times on that thread! Various other cm/eduction thread too, mostly all having a go about Ofsted. D'you think a word in the shell like with HQ? She's not being rude or trolling though, thats the problem, but she just isn't getting the message that there's nothing we can do for her. Very tricky.

crace · 17/01/2008 15:56

Hi ya'll we are back, all was perfectly normal - long baby like dd was and hubby is. They didn't look at the bum so no idea what the baby is, worst of all they ask if we wanted to know. I wrestled with finding out for a minute or two. Now it's playing on my mind we should have found out. (I secretly want a boy you see)

Oh well, all is well which is what matters

MaureenMLove · 17/01/2008 15:58

Excellent news Crace. Now you can relax for the rest of the pg. I wouldn't want to know either. What will be, will be. I like the suprise of it all.

crace · 17/01/2008 16:03

There isn't much to look forward to is there, but pain and a long recovery so there has to be something fun! I just wished they hadn't asked - then I wouldn't have been tempted. That's what is getting to me I think.

And yes, I can relax - in 3 weeks time I see the consultant for my c/s date so it's just waiting now!

MaureenMLove · 17/01/2008 16:20

O M G! Thunderbolts and lightening, very, very frightening! The weather is dreadful here! Really, really bad. The sky just went completely black and now we have howling wind, HUGE hailstones and a wicked thunderstorm!

looneytune · 17/01/2008 16:24

Had all that too Mo, just got all of us in dry clothes, we were soaked!!!

Not meaning to ignore everyone, just not had time to look through today, just popped in to put the kettle on to warm myself up!

Crace - so pleased scan went well I got letter from hospital this afternoon confirming the blood test showed low risk of D.S etc - 1 in 1400 so that was reassuring. I didn't have nuchal scan as didn't want to know if any probs but the blood test was sprung on me when I didn't expect it!

Right, be back to make the tea - mindee wants bottom wiping!

southernbelle77 · 17/01/2008 17:41

Well thats me finished til Monday And then I start with new ad hoc mindee! Hope she settles ok as I've only met her the once and she's not been with any childcarer before! Hopefully dd will keep her amused.

nannynick · 17/01/2008 18:35

Morning was nice - managed to go for a walk in Windsor Great Park. As often happens - rain started while on the school run... got back just before the big downpour.
Considering going swimming tomorrow if it's wet.

MaureenMLove · 17/01/2008 18:52

Did DH make it to South Africa yet Shosh? Or has he found a comfy corner at Heathrow!

MaureenMLove · 17/01/2008 20:18

BTW, if anyone is remotely interested I did a survey at school this arvo and the cold meat and mash thing is completely normal around these parts!

shoshe · 17/01/2008 20:23

Well last I heard he had checked in and on schedule flight was at 17.55, so think he must have gone

OP posts:
shoshe · 17/01/2008 20:24

Looney, ive jus saw your update on facebook??...have you psoted here yet???..anyway...fab news pleased for you all

ROSEgarden · 17/01/2008 20:44

oh and a prob here!....theres a 'mum' at nuresry who has either 1,2 or three children with her each day..one is white(like she) one is asian, one is black..now i know she may foster/adopt, but she doesnt always have these boys...so today she ahs all three and i ask if she cm's..no, i just mind x and x for their mums while theyre at college...now in thsi day and age, dont tell me shes not getting paid for this!..i dont want the children, i am full, but am very about some illegal cm doing the rounds at the school...might broach the teacher about it, dunno, but she said she was in childcare a while back so i KNOW she KNOWS the rules!..what to do??? do i keep my nose out?, parents are obv happy and theyll know she has no insurance, or what?

crace · 17/01/2008 20:50

LT - go on spill it, good news?!

Rose - it's annoying isn't it - I would leave the teacher out of it, unless they want to "remind" the parents what they are doing is illegal and that this "minder" isn't registered, inspected or insured! Some parents really have no idea, or just don't care. But some do!
