Aye up, I've just got the day off! mindee not well! So gotta do a school run in about 20 mins an then I'm done! Coool! Might go to BlueWater and spend my christmas money. Nip into Lakelands and buy a potato ricer or I could just stay here all day!

Here, have a sticky bun! I'm in a good mood now, even though I think DD may have lost the damn school coat, I fought so hard for her to have!

Morning everyone, it might be monday, but it's still rainning very hard!!!

southernbelle77 · 14/01/2008 08:41

Morning all! The weather is rubbish so everyone walking on the school run has my sympathies!
Not working today but have HV coming this morning and then this afternoon when dd at preschool will be making butternut squash and red pepper soup for lunch tomorrow - what's the betting that none of the kids will eat it?!

KatyMac · 14/01/2008 08:52

Morning
DD is off poorly
school run children are off on Holiday
No school run this am (just 1 to collect later)

So I'm on a major policy re-write atm

Can you find me a doughnut please...with jam in the middle?

MamaG · 14/01/2008 08:53

Hey up

Can I ask how someone manages to lose a coat?

crace · 14/01/2008 09:08

Morning ya'll - I wish I had the day off, am so darn tired. Oh well, keep on keeping on.

MaureenMLove · 14/01/2008 09:17

Quite simple when you're a blonde bimbo and walk around like a t*t in a trance most of the time! I can't find it, thats for sure and I'm hacked off because I wanted to wear it!

MaureenMLove · 14/01/2008 09:23

Are you are Katy, is this jammy enough for you!

crace · 14/01/2008 09:44

Mo - pic is almost indecent!

MaureenMLove · 14/01/2008 09:48

It is a bit, isn't it!

Now then, sorry to harp on about it, but I really, really need to tell dh what I want for my birthday. I'm going to BlueWater in a minute, so I might just get myself something, but I was thinking of a new digital camera. What d'ya think? Good idea? Its not exactly personal, but in the event I can't think of anything else, it'll have to do. Got a reasonable budget of £100 too, so it'll be a good'sh one I suppose.

crace · 14/01/2008 09:55

No burning desire for anything? New clothes etc? MP3 player? New phone?

crace · 14/01/2008 09:57

Ugh, schools. We are going through a similar thing with my autistic son. You'd think it would be pretty cut and dry with his needs so OBVIOUS. But noooo... we are in the painful process of getting him statemented. Fun fun

MaureenMLove · 14/01/2008 09:58

Oh, I could have a new phone I suppose. I always get everyone elses cast offs. MP3 or Ipod, bit of a waste, since I wouldn't use it really. Do I need a flashy phone though, probably not!

Mo, its 8your* birthday not what you neeeed its what you would like!

For about £100 you could get quite a good digi camera right now as theres lots of sales on, we paid £60 for my mums at chrsitmas and that was half price..so get on the tinternet today and see who has deals on

MaureenMLove · 14/01/2008 10:09

Right, I'm going to go shopping, with camera in mind, but just have a bit of a wander. I might even walk down the expensive side of Blue Water!

For those that haven't been, its set out in a triangle, with a department store on each point. The normal side that I go to has high street stores in it, one of the others is mega expensive designer stores and the other is a mix of the two. Celebs are often spotted in the posh bit! I'm on my way!

feeling sad this morning as my ds didn't want to go to pre-school today and when he was convinced to go he didn't want me to leave him

i don't understand it he only started last week and had 3 sessions and loved it - no tears and happy for me to leave him

he didn't cry but i'm worried he might be crying(i know he'll be fine really BUT just being a silly mummy!!)

then mindee didn't want to go to group!

ROSEgarden · 14/01/2008 10:40

poor maximmummy, as hard as this is, it IS totally normal...lots and lots of children do this, many of my mindees have done it, d did it when she first started private nursery( was used to it when at school nursery)..its their emotions, not quite sure wether they feel grown up enough to go theyre getting more confidense and its a bit scary as theyve never had to do things on their own before..he WILL be ok, if you can be kinda matter of fact(to his face then cry outside)be confident and say "oh, dont worry, i just have to go home and tiday up, once im done i'll be back"..that works with my mindee(nursery)"you'll have loads of fun, i wish i wASNT TOO OLD TO COME TO NURSERY IM REALLY JELOUS, YOU LUCKY THING"...HOPEFULLY HE'LL THINK "YEAH, MUMMIE'S(oops sorry!) right its really good here, i CAN choose things on my own and i get to do lots of new and exciting things..good luck chick, i know how heart wrenching it is

dmo · 14/01/2008 10:47

mo get something for you what about:
new purfume
shoes
handbag (i got a lovely radley for my 30th)
spa day (beauty treatment)
make up
coat

maximummummy · 14/01/2008 10:47

ah thanks ROSE - i know he'll be fine really - i mean how many times must i have dealt with mindees who don't want MUMMY to go!!

yeah i did do it matter of factly and said all the other MUM'S are going and i'm not allowed to stay - tomorrow i will make the break faster! I think that me leaving with mindee doesn't help really

KaySamuels · 14/01/2008 11:36

Hi everyone, just had new 12month mindee here for a settling in session of one hour, did great for about 30mins, then was crying. Would calm down for maybe a minute at a time when distracted tho but .

He has never been away from his mum before so it is a big change for him and it's going to take him a while to settle! Can anyone reassure me please?!? Have only minded two other babies, one was a pfb who never settled and almost drove other mindees away (gave notice), and other one is current mindee who is a dream child, but had already been to a nursery before coming to me. Am a little worried so any advice and tips welcome.

Maximummy - my ds has just started preschool too and I feel exactly the same, he is doing afternoons and I really missed him on Friday!

looneytune · 14/01/2008 11:37

Morning all. What a morning first thing. Thank god baby's mum was very kind and offered to drop off after school run as it was ds's first day at big school. What a state he was in He SCREAMED and clung, it was awful and he was the ONLY one doing this, even though the whole lot were new today I'm so glad I took dh with me!! Anyway, no work tomorrow or Wednesday til after school so we can concentrate on just him for the next couple of mornings.

Mo, hope you're having a good time spending!!

Hi everyone else, must dash as baby just woke up!

KaySamuels · 14/01/2008 11:43

Ah sounds like we are in the same boat LT, it's a good thing you can concentrate on him. My new baby mindee will be here tomorrow 12.30-6.30pm! Am a little apprehensive tbh, think it may be too long a starting off session for him.

Bless your little ds going to big school! All our little ones are growing up!

MamaG · 14/01/2008 12:25

Mo, are you blonde

O
M
G

Are you REALLY?

I don't believ eyou. I don't. You're 5'10 with a chic smooth dark brown bob, olive skin and you're a size 10

I refuse to imagine you any other way

shoshe · 14/01/2008 12:29

Good morning, only just got into the staff room today.

was in a rush this morning DGD had left her phone at mine yestrerday (and you know what girls and there phones are like) so phoned her house this morning at 8 to tell her I would drop it off tonight, THEY HAD OVERSLEPT and were still in bed, so did a mad rush to normal school run so that I caould pick her up on the way back and get her to school JUST in time

They had had an rather full weekend, with her stepdads family coming over.

Then as she got out the car realised that her coat which I bought in Septmeber for her dosnt actually fit her anymore (I do wish she would stop growing) so when I take her shopping on Saturday, another coat better be on the list, its going to be Primark tho, the rate she is outgrowing clothes. She is already almost the same height as me.

Anyway all the mindees have settled in well again now, so its been a easy morning.
