Katymac · 13/11/2007 09:18

Morning all

Woke up with terrible ear-ache so off to the Dr at lunchtime - feeling very sorry for myself

MaureenMLove · 13/11/2007 09:41

Morning. Just finished the morning rush, mindee is having her usual 40 winks after brekkie and I'm having another cuppa!

Got into bed at 7.45 last night! Didn't go to sleep, but I was cold, so I took my laptop up with me! DH is away until Thursday, so I could get away with it!

Kiddi · 13/11/2007 10:01

Strawberry, try pretending its a cinema, if its dark give them torchs to find their way, lineup chair in fromt of the telly, get them to make popcorn, fruit bags and drinks with lids, etc.
If they are really quick 4 year olds they can make tickets for show, let them pick a video, or watch a show you know start at 4.30 etc. they can even draw posters for their 'film' If its still quite bright near you, at whatever time you are trying to do this you can always shut the curtains!!!

SM - Build a den!

LoveMyGirls · 13/11/2007 12:02

While I'm here actually I'll tell you that i'm feeling quite good today, mindee is being much better, even ate dinner last night and is sat eating cucumber now (unheard of) and he's going home early today because hv is coming to see him, so i'm crossing my fingers she comes up with some good ideas to help mum (and me). Speech is coming along a little bit too. So im feeling a bit more hopeful but then i usually have this for a couple of weeks and I think we're making great progress, a couple of mths agho i opredicted he would have no food issues by christmas if he kept eating like he was (was doing really well at one point) then we suddenly went backwards practically to sq 1 and i felt so down and disheartened I wanted to pack up cm-ing as its too heart breaking sometimes. But now we're on the up again and with support and help i'm hoping we can stop going backwards and only go forwards even if its at a snails pace!

HI all, got my EYFS pack today, has anyone started their training yet?

Kiddi · 13/11/2007 12:34

Hi all, im off today after a parent forgot mention their child had had a bug! oh and yes she shared it with us wed night! I had it sat hub had it sun, oh and now son chucking in toilet as i type, back soon

LoveMyGirls · 13/11/2007 12:44

Kiddi - How horrible!! I hope she realises her mistake, as one or two days off with her dc could have saved all of your family getting it and her ending up taking time off anyway! Are you being paid?

KaySamuels · 13/11/2007 13:35

Hi everyone!
Kiddi - bet you are all cursing her!
SS - I had a briefing session in summer and got my pack, and am off an intro course next week.
LMG - glad it's all going well.
KM - good luck at docs.

I am so tired recently, and I am beginning to doubt if I can keep going energy andtime wise long term. I don't have a car which is a pain in the bum as I have 3 under 5s with DS, (can't afford more lessons which I need to pass and we had to sell my mini when DP made redundant) . I am sick of daily diaries parents arn't bothered about me doing, and permission slips and training, trapsing to play groups, and being fuelled by tea and biscuits! Oh and I am way behind onNVQ as as soon as DS is in bed and I have tidied up I am falling asleep on the sofa!

Sorry ladies having one of those days and you will have to listen to my moan as DP thinks 'I have it easier than him, going to playgroups and park everyday'!

KaySamuels · 13/11/2007 13:37

A fellow local childminder did the EYFS course last week and said course had teachers and school nursery nurses alongside childminders.

SweetSnowflake · 13/11/2007 13:39

aw kay youre gonna meet yourself coming back at this rate!, dont know what to suggest other than cut down outings to minimum and do more things at home now bad weather coming anyway, less stress to get everyone ready for you and if the little ones drop off you can have a quick cuppa and read through whats next on nvq?.x

SweetSnowflake · 13/11/2007 13:39

was it a night course she did?, thing C.Care co ordinator is trying to set up an evening one for cm's, i know i couldnt get to a day one!

StrawberryMartini · 13/11/2007 13:40

Oooh am loving the cinema idea!

I've only got one 4 yr old today as other one is ill so I'll definitely try that another day.

SweetSnowflake · 13/11/2007 13:42

oh and does anyone get paid via busy bee vouchers?, just filled in forms for one of my parents, different ways of getting paid isnt there?, which have you found best, i get paid cash by all at min and go to bacnk tues to pay all in, guess this will be auto transfer?,BUT have just opened new 'normal' account with bank as they were starting to charge me for business banking..will they be awkward if i have these vouchers going in each month????

KaySamuels · 13/11/2007 13:47

She did the day cpurse on offer as only minds one over 8, I am doing the 2eveinings course that is on offer.

We like playiing cinemas with my late shift kids too, helps them wind down and like that it is dark!!

Trouble is I get cabin fever if I stay in too often but think I will have to. At the mo we go out 4 mornings a week, may cut it back to two but even though it's a faff it is good to wear them out!

SweetSnowflake · 13/11/2007 13:48

is it over 2 evenings or two evening a week for so long??..i couldnt manage two evenings a week

SweetSnowflake · 13/11/2007 13:49

do you have a garden?, i know what you mean about being stuck in, but if you have garden get them wrapped up and chuck em outside..get the bubbles out, play races, or let them play on bikes/scooters etc?

Kiddi · 13/11/2007 13:53

LMG thats the thing, that child only comes two hours a week! so as he bee sick again have cancelled her for tomorrow now, and it was meant to be an overnight this week so it has messed her about but, it will be 3 days I have not earnt for! it the new parent I am worried about upsetting but cant have the new little one catching it too, so rules is rules.

KaySamuels · 13/11/2007 13:57

The course I am going to is two consecutive evenings in the same week and I am dreading it. I will be so tired and I know I am going to resent formally teaching children aged 0-3. I think I would rather receive a terrible Ofsted repoert tbh (currently graded good).

RE back garden: My house is strange - I have my back door, then a small yard, then out of the yard gate is a tenfoot (private road running along the back of my block), on the other side of the ten foot we have a big games room with pool, darts, drumkit, etc on the back of which are big double doors leading out to secure back garden which is paved and decked. It is nice for the kids to play in but they are not allowed in the gamesroom, only to go through to the garden, and if one needs the toilet I have to take all the kids with me back to the house. Good old ofsted!

KaySamuels · 13/11/2007 13:57

Kiddi can't believe it was only for 2 hours that is awful of her!

Kiddi · 13/11/2007 13:58

strawberry . my kids love this idea, mainly as they hardly get to watch any telly here anyway so it is a novelty in itself! but yes the role play is fun too.
Snowflake, not had busy bee voucher for a while but as all you do is ring them up and they credit your account by bacs then it makes no difference to the bank at all, they prob just glad you getting paid! def recommend accepting them.
