Well done smeenit just watched it and it is fab! You are very brave to do it and came across very caring and professioonal. I'm shocked at the reaction you got at your meeting. for you.

CaptainUnderpants · 02/11/2007 17:32

Hi, have just watched the video clip. Well done for making a stand.

I work in a pre school setting and recently have just had training in the new Eraly Years foundation stage by at a session run by the council.

just out of interest who is giving childminders the training , will you be on one of these courses > but then what happens if you are childminding 5 days a week ? At least ina setting you can get supply cover.

Also in my area settings are having extra funding until next September to give additional training on planning , observation , welfare etc . what additional training will childminders be gettin in being able to plan etc .

I really feel for you and it wasn't until I watched the clip that it dawned on me that you would be affected by the new EYFS .

smeeinit · 02/11/2007 17:36

Just seen clip and it's fab, well done you!!! And also....the radio....GRRRRR....I had a pickup at 5.15 and she left at 5.25 GRRRR - I know you can playback but what was the show called?

Well done again hun and thanks SOOOOO much for stepping in - you did a much better job than I would have

looneytune · 02/11/2007 17:41

You have to choose the show though don't you? I WANT TO HEAR IT

Mum2Luke · 02/11/2007 17:41

Well done Smeeinit, I'm in manchester so had to watch it on the link that bloodsuckinglooney gave. I think you spoke for all the childminders in Uk, we DO NOT want OFSTED to make us put signs up, use different handtowels etc.

We don't want to do risk assessements for everything including going to the loo - what are the kids going to do, fall in? As for keeping a hamster its common sense really, wash hands after handling and don't poke fingers in. We have 2 rats kept in daughter's room as they arent the friendliest, not quite cute Remy from Ratatouille film! The 4 yr old is allowed to watch them with my supervision.

I am qualified NVQ Level 3 so I'll be looking for other work, perhaps in a creche. Have had a bit of EYFS training so I know a little of what 'they' expect.

Well done again!

smeeinit · 02/11/2007 17:43

thanks looney, the show was drive time with kate and eddie (i think!!) let me know if you can get a link!

OP posts:
southeastastra · 02/11/2007 17:45

i linked it above

looneytune · 02/11/2007 17:46

But the link took me to the page where you then click listen again and then you have to choose which show you want to listen too (or am I loosing it - that's QUITE possible! )

smeeinit · 02/11/2007 17:46

mum2luke, i hope thats what came across.
i ahev to say im slightly annoyed at the lack of support from the NCMA regarding the EYFS, has anyone had any contact from them asking our views on the subject?

OP posts:
smeeinit · 02/11/2007 17:47

yeah thats what i done looney! cant find the show, maybe be on there later?!

OP posts:
looneytune · 02/11/2007 17:52

I'll check back later Well done again

southeastastra · 02/11/2007 17:55

oh maybe it's the only show that isn't on there seems odd

mumlove · 02/11/2007 18:03

The show doesn't finish until 7pm, so will try again then.

southeastastra · 02/11/2007 18:05
