Or was it that some of us (the PG one) was forgetful, and was the last one out

She will be putting her purse in the fridge and her mindees in the coal hole before long!

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 18/10/2007 10:34

Glad you refused - well done you!! Believe me, you need to nip this in the bud and you'll feel so much better for it And no, I did the same thing with stars and it doesn't work!

MissInvisible · 18/10/2007 10:37

i think im going to speak to mum who does these lates as they REALLY affect us all and its no good, think from new year it MUST be over nights, i could even knock 50p off for her as a sweetner, but i cant do this late all the time..out of 39 hours i worked 32!

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 18/10/2007 10:40

New year, new start!!!

Can I just ask everyone.....some of you saw my thread about telling parents I'm pregnant......I want a vote please about this new baby who's supposed to be starting in January. Do I tell the mum now and give her option to have deposit back? Or do I wait til 3 months? Which I THINK will be middle of December but doesn't give her much time to sort thing as funny time of year.

YES
or
NO

?????

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 18/10/2007 10:41

Although of course I hope she'd still want to use me but can't guarantee.

MissInvisible · 18/10/2007 10:48

i wouldnt say anything to anyone yet, but you could always put your feelers out for other cms in area and keep their numbers/enquire aboutt heir spaces so you could 'suggest(NOT recommend) them as back up/alternative?, try to do a bit of the ground work for her?

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 18/10/2007 10:53

Well, she'd seen other childminders and decided she wanted me for certain reasons. One thing that worries me is that I could be letting her down at last min if she doesn't want me anymore. I know one childminder she saw was pregnant and she chose against her, not sure if she didn't like her anyway? If didn't like the idea of her being pregnant? Or the timing of birth was just wrong with her starting her job again?

MissInvisible · 18/10/2007 11:08

she may well have liked her but chose you as you were very nice and not pg at the time, this cm may be nice too and may have now had baby and got back to work?

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 18/10/2007 11:10

Exactly.....so she may feel very let down now I'm pg! This is why I'm thinking it might be best to let her know sooner?

MissInvisible · 18/10/2007 11:12

noooo, look its up to you, have a think about how you will fel/manage looking after this baby when you're heavilly pg?, maybe its best to let her go elsewere now?
she may be ahppey yo stary with you until you go off on maternity, then use other cm for few months(did you look into getting an assistant?)

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 18/10/2007 11:21

Oh yeah, not planning on having a maternity leave at such, hoping to go for the few weeks off and assistant thing. Just worried some people don't like the idea of pg childminders

MaureenMLove · 18/10/2007 11:42

Hello! Only got five minutes, I've got a whole production line of cards, that need painting, then sticking into cards, packaging them, then doing more outlining. I've got 43 on the go at the moment, but I've run out of assatate, so I'll have to go out again tonight. I'm knackered, but my mantra keeps popping into my head - 'I have the power to earn sme extra cash and not sit onmy arse and mn on my days off!'

I think you should mention pg at the end of November Looney. Apart from anything else, you'll need to know if the retainer has to go back or not.

See you later.

mogs0 · 18/10/2007 14:10

I think you should wait til 12 weeks. You won't be stopping work in Dec so you would be able to work for her for a few months so if she did want to find someone else there'd be time. Maybe you could offer to waive the notice period if she found another cm after mindee starts with you? Just re-read that and not sure if it makes much sense!!

MaureenMLove · 18/10/2007 14:21

It does make sense Mogs! Good idea too!

I'm having half hour off, I'm pooped! Can't wait to have mindees tomorrow, much less stressful than painting cards!

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 18/10/2007 14:25

I have update for you, i've been in contact with her but not told her....will spill when back, nappy then school run..

LoveMyGirls · 18/10/2007 14:38

Hello everyone

Moan Alert! yes me moaning again
This morning has been a disaster and now I have a headache. Started with mindee spitting (i really hate spitting yuck!) then as i was about to leave for toddler group to save my sanity to get the darlings out of the house to play I realised dp had taken dd2's car seat to work with him! So it was either stay in or walk! So i went to get thr buggy out the car and the boot wouldnt open! So i dragged it over the seats and then walked (its half an hour on foot) I am not used to walking! Not long after I got there it was time to come home so i did and was still late back so rushed lunch, mindee spat sandwich onto the plate then both decided not to sleep eventually dp came home with the car seat and got dd2 up so mindee could sleep, he has now taken her out and she has fallen alseep in the car so mindee is asleep now but we have to leave for school run very soon! I've written a newsletter but now feel really nervous about giving it out. I do need to be harder BUT i also cannot afford to lose custom. eeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Megsdaughter · 18/10/2007 14:47

LoveMyGirls · 18/10/2007 15:17

I went to get mindee up from nap to find he had taken nappy off and cover the cot and bedding in pooh, someone up there is testing me..........

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 18/10/2007 16:34

Right.....this is what happened....

Emailed new lady to ask when she would like to start (was tbc, paid deposit til 14th Jan then I said if doesn't need me til Feb or whatever, I will have to charge a retainer from then). She came back saying lots up in the air about the job she wants to go for (she has a job to go back to but wanted to be in our town rather than commuting). She said not looking forward to going back blabla (although pretty sure she will as this isn't her first, she's just trying to enjoy the time she has left at home). She said she MAY only end up needing the 2 days and that she understands she will loose the deposit for the 3rd if doesn't need me. I've reassured her it's fine as double pay baby's mum desperately wants that day but missed out as didn't want it originally. So that's fine. I then said it would be great to have a chat over coffee nearer the time and between us we agreed end Nov/beginning of Dec

Soooo.....all being well, I can tell her then. I also don't feel quite so bad as I don't know how long it would have been before she'd let me know about possibly not needing the 3rd day. At the end of the day, we're both looking out for ourselves and what's in our best interests

LMGs has had a HORRIBLE day hasn't she She's done a very good newsletter and we need to make sure she doesn't back down from giving it to parents!!!!

Oh......and I really fcuked up baby's meals today - can't believe it, deffo pregnancy affecting me already - still can't believe what I did but thank god I MAY just have got away with it!

hennipenni · 18/10/2007 18:24

Hello ladies, poor LMGs has had a tough day.

Right, I'm going to moan whinge ask for some assertiveness vibes from everybody, here goes. DD3 has been poorly on and off since monday (vomited monday morning, closed for the day, feeling sick tues and weds, all parents informed but needed me so I opened) anyway, fast forward to today, DD started vomiting again, all day, not kept a thing down but has been well inbetween, contacted all parents, two decide to collect- fair enough very happy with this, siblings parents said something totally silly that I don't want to say but didn't collect, thought they may come a little earlier. I.E when finished work but didn't, turned up late instead. Now DD has since had a huge vomit, not eating anything but is drinking a little, one family contacted and not coming tomorrow but I need to contact second family and be firm with them but I do feel guilty about time off already this week, but on the other hand I feel that it's hugely unfair on DD if I have to take the other children, so please send me some vibes so that I say/do the right thing. Thanks HP
