Oooh sounds fun! I'm waiting for my hungover mum ... see other thread - any more advice welcome!

Ghostashoshabuster · 04/10/2007 07:38

Hi Strawbs, Only thing I can add is I worked part time at a nursery once and the policy there was we were not allowed to handover to aintoxicated parent, but it might have been the nurserys own policy and you had to drive to get tehre as was up a long winding lane. Sorry.

Morning everyone, Exciting news shosha!!

I'm still in limbo land - no idea whats going on

Ghostashoshabuster · 04/10/2007 08:32

oh EM you poor thing, I looked after my mom when she was terminally ill, and the constant worry over everything can be so hard.

Can you take a day out at the weekend, turn you phone off and go do something YOU want to do. Anything just something for you, even if it is to stay in bed all day.

mumlove · 04/10/2007 09:36

Well my hours for the day have increased, I was just getting my coat on to leave for school as the door bell goes an hour early and mindee is staying until 5pm . It would have been nice if the parents could have phoned first to discuss this! Good job I didn't have anything to do this afternoon.

bloodsuckinglooney · 04/10/2007 09:39

Morning all

Shosh - great stuff, what ya getting?

Strawbs - I must admit I actually thought you were right to ask the question for the very reason Shosh said about handing over to an intoxicated parent - I'd need to read the standards again to remember what it says.

mumlove - great that you have an easier day

Earthymama - you poor thing. I've not been through it myself but have seen what it's done to my parents. My nan has dementia and my parents have been living with her for the last couple of years and it's been very tough. My mum recently went on AD's as it's all too much and nan has just been put in a mental hospital for assessment as she's got a LOT worse and actually become abusive to the other carers whereas she was only like this at home until recently. We actually want her to pass away sooner rather than later, she's got no life and she's in a state all the time, we want her to have peace. You being an only child is the same as my dad and it's such a strain for you isn't it I don't want ds to be an only child as I don't want him to be alone having to deal with us when we're older. I think the carer shouting at you was AWFUL and I would report it personally, do they not understand how much stress you're under as it is!!!! I agree with what Shosha said, have to 'ME' time and try and forget it all. Lots of {{{ hugs }}}

Katy - enjoy Oh....and thanks so much for sending the policy. It arrived after 10pm last night so I've only just read it but WOW WOW WOW, I like it a LOT Thanks SOOOOOO much. Changing the subject, do you know if TP is ok? Since around the summer hols she's been a lot quieter and I miss her. Did something happen that I missed? She always used to crack me up!

LMGs - I'm gonna give you a virtual slap later!!!!

bloodsuckinglooney · 04/10/2007 09:40

mumlove - are they contracted to just do what hours they want? I'd have said sorry, no can do!!! Parents eh!!!!

bloodsuckinglooney · 04/10/2007 09:42

Well, I'm all alone now, had my toast and really need to catch up with paperwork so shouldn't be on here. I've got til 12.30 then I've got to get ds, go to the dentist for our check ups and then at 2.45, pick mindee up then off to soft play

Oh......I'm still secretly dancing and after what baby's mum said yesterday!!!!!

Earthymama · 04/10/2007 09:42

Yes, I'm going to try to get over to my allotment for a couple of hours, and maybe read a book or something.

When I stop though there's a voice in my head saying 'you should do this, you should do that'. i need to turn that off. I'm must not listen to the voice that says I've done it all wrong with my mum, either. Oh, I sound like I'm hearing 'VOICES'!

I've got a nice evening, looking after 2 DGS for an hour or so, then meeting a good friend with DP for a drink later.

I've just come back from dropping off a 4 yr old at school, and on the way we sang Wiggly Woo, talked about slugs, and he told me a long, long story about classroom politics. He was so earnest and so lovely, it made me feel better. So my motto for the day is 'Be Positive!'I'm going to try to enjoy the little things in life.

Have a good day, guys, I hope the sun is shining where you are.

bloodsuckinglooney · 04/10/2007 09:56

Good for you. Switch off the VOICES switch, easier said than done I know but TRY.

Saz73 · 04/10/2007 11:06

Hi, Don't post much on here but gotta ask question about chicken pox. mindee (18mth) as arrived today with a spots on her tummy and the odd one on her back. To me looks like the dreaded CP, but mum says as it's not around/near her glands it can't be.....could this be CP or not. I thought you got CP anywhere. Panicking abit as i have 12mth mindee too and if he gets it his mum will definately not be happy with me.

By the way the spots are red, itcy and some have a head on them.

bloodsuckinglooney · 04/10/2007 11:12

Saz - ds's started on his tummy and back, yes. Not sure what she means by glands, that never happened with ds. If it is this, it's not your fault, remember that. I was made to feel bad by double pay baby's mum but it wasn't my fault!

Saz73 · 04/10/2007 11:14

Just emailed you, i know it's not my fault but 12mth mum is very protective!!!

You know how it is...

Saz73 · 04/10/2007 11:15

mum said she's had them a couple of days.

bloodsuckinglooney · 04/10/2007 11:16

Yes I know.

And.......I know this child you mean and her mum is NOT medical and this child is an ONLY child - how the hell can she say for sure it's not CP???!!! I think you should say this is how it starts and you're afraid that unless a Dr writes a note saying it's NOT CP, she can't come. Presume it's in your policies?

bloodsuckinglooney · 04/10/2007 11:21

Oh.....must admit I'd expect her to be covered after a couple of days. Do you want me to pop over around 1ish after picking ds up from nursery? I can only be quick as got the dentist but I don't mind having a quick look if you want?

MaureenMLove · 04/10/2007 11:45

Hi, just thought I'd pop in and say hello, mid cake decorating! The second cake was better than the first, thank god! Just got to make all the make-up bits to go in bag - will show & tell later!

BTW, just in case she hasn't mentioned it yet, Fifilou has got a fab website. The link is in yesterdays staff room! See ya!

Saz73 · 04/10/2007 12:14

Thanks LT would be great just to have a second opinion. Mum is adament it's not CP and if mum still sends her tomorrow is when i've got my three 1 yr olds and don't want the other two getting them.

kkey21 · 04/10/2007 12:17

Oh gosh can someone help me on my post about 'worms'...sorry i know its lunch time!

mumlove · 04/10/2007 12:19

looney - parents asked last friday if they could also send mindee on a thursday between 9.30 -1.30. I don't mind doing the longer hours but just wished that they had phoned first. if baby mindee was here I would have been working 8.20 - 5.30 anyway.

It's now lunchtime so I have put the kettle on for any who would like a drink.

bloodsuckinglooney · 04/10/2007 12:22

Can't stay as got to leave in 10 mins and I'm going to wash my hair before leaving.

Saz - I'll be there just before 1

VooJu · 04/10/2007 12:53

Hi all
