Morning all

Well, usually I'm just getting out of bed at this time (I make the most of not having to get up early when I don't need to ) but the sisters came at 6.45am this morning (same time as I used to before au pair left).

Soooooo, kettle is on, bacon is sizzling under the grill (Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm), quickly going to dress the girls and start on breakfast, anyone care for a yummy bacon butty?

Oh lovely LT just what I need thanks!

I have one mindee here who woke ds up when he came in chattering loudly at 6:30am, and whenever I try to turn my eyes towards ds mindee is drawing me back to him with any chatter he can think of. Grr!

I definately have that Monday morning feeling today!

Katymac · 17/09/2007 07:33

No bacon for me - I'm feeling a bit delicate

& one of my ladies has phone in poorly

Do enjoy them yourselves tho'

Shoshable · 17/09/2007 07:41

my goodness we are all up and about early! None till 7.45 today , then breakfast and the school run.

Artycrafty day today, we are going to do Autumn leaf pictures by painting out hands Red, Yellow, and brown. Then Autumn songs.

Did have some grain in the airing cupboard, since last autumn, lovely and dry do the mindees could play with it , like sand, DH had a clear out at the weekend, guess what he took to the tip!!!!!

MaureenMLove · 17/09/2007 08:11

Morning gang. Plaster baby is off for the next 2 weeks, getting plaster off already! One's got chicken pox and ones on holiday! What a week! I've got schoolies this morning only and my neighbours boy til lunch time, but dd has an INSET day, so they won't need me! Apart from that schoolies only until Friday!

KaySamuels · 17/09/2007 08:23

Baby mindee has just thrown up his breakfast all over himself and high chair! Cleaned up now but bleurgh!
Don't know whether to call mum or not, nanna dropped off, he seems really congested wth green snot. More .
Opinions? Will have to take him on school run will look at replies when I get back!

Katymac · 17/09/2007 08:36

Why are you envious of the baby being sick (am I missing something?)

DD is back in bed - she has tummy pains (it must be going round)

StrawberryMartini · 17/09/2007 08:37

OOOOh first time I don't feel guilty posting in the staff room as I'm starting properly today! Mindee arrives at 1.30pm!!

Will report back later!

looneytune · 17/09/2007 08:48

Hi everyone

ADVICE PLEASE........when I was dressing the girls earlier, I noticed that the toddler has 2 round marks on her back and I need to complete a form. I know we're suppose to check them at drop off but how realistic is that? Especially when they are dropped off in their pj's and growbags! Anyway, I asked dh to look at the marks and he said they 'look' like what I thought they 'look' like - 2 cigarette burns. I don't think that's what they are as they don't smoke and are anti smoking but then again, who's been looking after them since I saw them on Wed?!! I would have said they were carpet burns if it wasn't for the shape of them. Oh god.....what to do???? I need to ask parents what these marks are and how they happened, I'm going to email mum but how do I put it???

Best go - baby full of snot and needs cleaning AGAIN, ds is nagging me and I can smell dirty nappies......

OP posts:
StrawberryMartini · 17/09/2007 08:54

Gosh. Not much help but I do remember at my training that accidental injuries to the back were rare, as are injuries to inner arm, throat etc. I would just calmly point out that you noticed them and were wondering where they've come from.

looneytune · 17/09/2007 09:11

Right, I'm back properly for a min.....

KaySamuels - hope you enjoyed it, was rather tasty I must say I know what you mean about ds being woken up, same happened to me but it was because older one was crying for mummy (poor thing, they've been all over the place recently that she's a bit lost ) As for baby, my baby mindee is like this and is also full of snot at the moment (doesn't help they don't keep her chest nice and warm/dry - I always put a plastic backed bib on them to help!) Tbh, I always keep baby when I know it's sick due to coughing/snot but I know I'm a softie.

Shoshable - sounds like fun

MaureenMLove - how cool is that!!!

Katymac - seems to be a tummy bug round here too. Actually, just put a thread on Health section about ds rather strange poo last night!!

StrawberryMartini - Best of luck this afternoon, nice to be broken in gently with a shorter day Oh, and I'm liking the new name!

OP posts:
KaySamuels · 17/09/2007 09:18

Yes I know what you mean about the sick from being full of cold ds is like this too even now. I am gonna see how he goes as he is bright as a buton and I really think it is just he is so congested.

Katymac - I was using this as me going a bit green about the sick - should hae explained it better I guess!

I would contact the mum of mindee with marks immediately, I think you use email with this parent don't you? Just thinking it is all recorded then if you use that and you are covered ie who said what and when. I would mention it in a matter of fact way but let her know you have filled in the form as an existing injury and need her to complete it on pick up. This then shows you have seen them just after drop off, and filled in the paperwork. I remember the thing about common places to injure too and rememebr back is not one of them.

looneytune · 17/09/2007 09:21

Cheers KS I'm emailing her now. I'm going to take a photo too as I think I should have a record of this. Just really odd as it's in the centre of her back and the sizes are just the same sort of size as the end of a ciggy, but, maybe some hot oil splashed out of a pan or something, god knows!

Shosha - this is my favourite autumn song
Autumn days, when the grass is jewelled
And the silk in a chestnut shell
Jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled
All these things I love so well
So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget
To say a great big thank you
No, I mustn't forget.

Clouds that look like familiar faces
And winter's moon with frosted rings
Smell of bacon as I fasten up my laces
And the song the milkman sings.
So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget
To say a great big thank you
No, I mustn't forget.

Whipped-up spray that is rainbow-scattered
And a swallow curving in the sky
Shoes so comfy though they're worn out and they're battered
And the taste of apple pie.
So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget
To say a great big thank you
No, I mustn't forget.

Scent of gardens when the rain's been falling
And a minnow darting down a stream
Picked-up engine that's been stuttering and stalling
And a win for my home team.

So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget
To say a great big thank you
No, I mustn't forget.

looneytune · 17/09/2007 09:47

I've emailed mum and this is her reply.....

'Hi, yes I noticed them this weekend ? I was going to ask both granny?s whilst I was away, but I thought they could be mosquito bites.'

Where do I go from here? Do I insist on a Dr's visit if she can't explain it?

dylansaunty · 17/09/2007 09:55

Looneytune. Are you a member of the NCMA? They have a helpline 0800 169 4486 I would reccomend calling them straight away for advice.

looneytune · 17/09/2007 09:58

Thanks, just tried that number and it's just cutting off as soon as dialed

OP posts:
dylansaunty · 17/09/2007 09:59

head office number is 0845 880 0044, perhaps that will work?

KaySamuels · 17/09/2007 09:59

Hmm I think you should get some formal advice - maybe from your network if you have one? Or ring NCMA helpline? I would give them a bit of background too, ie not geting them to docs, holidaying without them rgularly, not using car seat etc. One of these things fair enough but I don't think yu are unreasonable to be concerned -we all know how much you care for these two.

I know on the form there is a section cause of existing injury so i would think something needs to be put in there from mum. Also section six record of concerns says you should record any concerns ie changes in behaviour.....this is the child that didn't want to leave last week and was crying isn't it? You need some advice pronto - and make sure she signs that form.

looneytune · 17/09/2007 10:03

Tried membership services and they said it's because the line doesn't open til 10am so told me to leave it 5 mins. I said having an answerphone would help but she said that's broken!

I did mention the lack of Dr's visits, car seats etc. when I got advice before and was told I didn't need to take it any further. Will mention it all again but I'm pretty at mum as she didn't even mention it (i.e. put cream on) and it looks really sore

Will try NCMA again in 5 mins, keep you posted!

looneytune · 17/09/2007 10:16

Been on hold for about 13 mins, in meantime mum has emailed again saying can't get hold of the grans snd can i just put infected mosquito bites on form

OP posts:
KaySamuels · 17/09/2007 10:27

DP had an infected mozzy bite last week - the area was huge and swollen and really read and tender. We have had a lot of mosquito bites and they are all on our ankles, wrists, back of neck etc. Do you really think that's what they are?? I would leave that bit clear til you can write something you are satisfied with. I don't think you should speculate on the form, only put facts IYKWIM.

looneytune · 17/09/2007 10:31

Right, told them what they LOOK like but that it doesn't mean that's what I THINK they are. Anyway.....been advised to phone social services and that I shouldn't put something on the form that the mum has made up without knowing.

Great, more phonecalls whilst trying to look after 3 under 5's - why is it they all go crazy as soon as you try to talk to someone on the phone!!!

Kay bleurgh !

Katy hope you feel better soon

shosha I'm gonna steal your ideas

Hi Mo enjoy your day

dylansAunty I've not met you before pleased to meet you

looneytune · 17/09/2007 10:48

Quick update as got to do bottle and snacks etc...

Social Services took all the details and then realised that this person is not in my borough so I need to phone a different district. Will do that once sorted the kids.

My gut instinct is that the parents have NOT done anything to them but I also can't put what the mum has said because she's just making it up for something for the form and that's not allowed. Social services said although I don't THINK anything is wrong as such, because of what it looks like, they need to check it out as how do I know someone else who's had the kids hasn't done this. They said I have to safeguard myself too.

Will update later
