I have morning off too dmo (only working 4-7pm today with one mindee), had a nice lie in!

Put kettle on for you x

OFSTEDoutstanding · 18/06/2007 09:15

Must be something in the air today I don't start til 2.30 and end at 5 today. I love Mondays

KaySamuels · 18/06/2007 09:18

Have been pondering over this over the weekend so will put it all you lot in staff room....

I have a 4yr old mindee that I do a daily siary for, this mindee is a lovely little boy, but quite testing and exhibits naughty behaviour most of the time (I'd say slightly more that the 'usual' four year old). When I have had bad behaviour to report to mum I put it on a seperate slip in a pocket in his diary, and if he is good I write it on the daily page with everything else and a sticker to encourage him.

My question is - how much do you report bad behavour back to parents? Mum is a very good friend of mine and I know she gets upset by his behaviour, and I worry she will be upset to read he has been naughty IYSWIM. What do you all do/think?

dmo · 18/06/2007 09:19

i love mondays also now
mindee used to come 1 till 6 on a mon/fri but then mum had a baby so mindee came 9 til 6 to give mum a rest, anyway baby is sleeping now so mindee back to 1 till 6 so i now have every monday morning off
but........... havent done tax returns for yonks so thats my plans on a monday till its done

i have mindee like that kay very hard work
if i wrote everything down it would take me all day, mum not really keen on hearing bad reports so i keep it to a min just writing down if he hurts anybody or breaks anything (mindee has just turned 2)

Yes he is very hard work, can be a sweet little lad at times too tho so not all bad!

Trouble is mindee (and also his older sister) suck the joy out of everything (mum's words not mine), if you go to the park they want a magnum, or a donkey ride, or to get a taxi and moan with every step. If you go to the fruit market they want to get a toy, or a bag of sweets or they are extremely thirsty. I know all kids do this but they are both really full on with it and I am getting to a point where I don't even want to take them out of the house!

I did think dmo, maybe I should just save it for serious incidents, (like shooting me and telling me he is gonna shoot all the childminders!)

MaureenMLove · 18/06/2007 09:44

Glad you're all enjoying your late morning ladies - my first mindee arrived a 6.15am!
I'd just stick to the particularly bad things too Kay. Like you say it could take up pages.

PinkChick · 18/06/2007 10:03

well i only have one today and shes fell asleep again!, god knows what time she gos to bed of a night!..anyway..im gunna email the mum of boy at dd's school(enquiry to say i cant help), saw him in playground today and to say he is a handful is an understatement!, she was there too but didnt come over, but would have felt awkward anyway...wish me luck!

KaySamuels · 18/06/2007 10:23

Is this the one you are going to recommend the new childminder to the mum? Poor cm'er!

Are you defo taking on the little girl now then? Good luck hun!

crace · 18/06/2007 10:28

blerch to you lot! Been with mindee 1 since 7 and just had another arrive. In hysterics when mum left, made me feel quite rubbish.

I have had enough, can I take the rest of the day off please

Had a date night with DH on Friday night which was the first since dd was born 18 months ago. She did fab and we had an amazing time. - didn't get back until 1am - shocking!! Did wonders for recharging the martial batteries though

PinkChick · 18/06/2007 10:30

well i havent seen the aprent of girl yet, he was waiting to hear from the new job to let me know, but it would prob be to start in next few weeks..tbh, i am 'ok' at moment as i have one full and two part timers plus an after schooly signed up for sept, so as long as it stays this way, we are ok.
my main concern was taking on 4 new children all at same time and thinking hell what have i done!..so if i can get new girl on in next few weeks(plus ive already looked after her for a week a while ago), i can wean myself into it.
Hav just emailed the mum of little boy, i was very apologetic but said i had verbally agreed this palce a while ago and they have only just got back to me, i recomened other cm(her son is very similar to this boy so she should be fine) but said i can add him to my waiting list if she still wants?!, but i know she needs care organised so think shell go with other cm..argh, i dont like this bit!

PinkChick · 18/06/2007 10:38

, mum just emailed straight back saying she completely understands and that shes grateful i let her know straight away, feel worse now!, but other cm is happy, ive just rang her and shes made up as shes just got reg!

KaySamuels · 18/06/2007 10:41

Well that will teach me to stay in my scruffy mismatched pjs! My nanna has just popped round! I had seriously dire bedwear on and ds had a pair of unides and a too small pj top that i have cut down the sleeves of and have a button missing! I am dressed now but too late really isn't it!

Why couldn't she have popped round yesterday when I looked respectable??!

I need one of those date things with dp crace, I hear they are good, can't really remember!

Send any extra mindees my way pinkchick! Serious shortage in my area!

MaureenMLove · 18/06/2007 10:53

Mindees both sleeping! One is snoring very loudly! Poor love, she's having tonsils & adenoids out next week. Thinking of going to get some work books for dd, once they've both gone. Work seems to have stopped completely for year 6's since they did their SATS last month. I did have a bit of a moan on here about the lack of work, everyone said I should lighten up and let her enjoy the summer. Trouble is, I just think its an awful long time between now and September, to not do any work at all. It'll be a big enough shock going from primary to secondary, without the fact that she's done nothing for nearly 3 months!

thebumcleaner · 18/06/2007 10:55

Started at 7.30 with mum saying can I have mindee overnight tonight please. Why do people not plan? Mindee 2 been having strops, so not a good start to the week at the moment. Oh well, has to get better.

PinkChick · 18/06/2007 10:58

overnight request ON THE DAY!!!!!!, you have the patience of a saint!

thebumcleaner · 18/06/2007 11:03

Not the first time. I said to mum had to go out for a couple of hours as got a meeting, and she said it is OK, she will be asleep!

Wish people thought more about their children. Anyway, all is quiet here at the moment, so the darama queen mindee has calmed down. SHe is always worse on a monday lol

KaySamuels · 18/06/2007 11:11

Is this overnight mindee going home at all now then or do you have him/her right through til tomorrow? Blimey!

thebumcleaner · 18/06/2007 11:14

Nope, will be 7.30 until 6 tomorrow night.

madge7 · 18/06/2007 11:22

Hi Everyone, hope you all had a great weekend!

Just read about the bumcleaners overnight stay - I get that, but he is my freinds little boy so I just cant say no, plus when my dh gets home they are all over eachother I dont see either of them! Mindee insists DH puts him up to bed! NUTS.

anyway, out of interest, in case it ever crops up with another mindee and i CAN charge, how much do you do for overnighters...... I charge £3.00 per hour normal day?

Shoshable · 18/06/2007 11:31

thebumcleaner · 18/06/2007 13:07

I hate rain. Wish it would rain and keep going rather than just a little then stop, so everything is wet, then a bit more etc etc. Grr too humid to be inside all day.
