HI Everyone,

Wow what a great sight, I am so glad I found it, I have learnt so much, including that I have to put CM Club at the start of a thread!!!!! anyway why didnt they recommend this site on the ICP course!??

If anyone can advise on how I advertise in this area, or in general I would really welcome your comments.

I am lucky enough to be minding a ten month old lovely little girl, two days a week at present along with a cute 3 year old boy on a wednesday, although we would like new friends to come and play with us - so vacancies are available....

Besides anyone who perhaps might be interested in that, its nice to see what a great little chat village there is going on here and it would be nice to hear from any local childminders to maybe meet up from time to time and hear from anyone else in this fab world of childminding!

TC

Hi Madge, welcome to the group.
I'm an odd one out, as I'm not a childminder (as my flat is too small), so I nanny instead... I'm also male - though seeing as childcare is still quite a female dominated profession, I find this place great.

I'm not military, but I did work at a Army/RAF playgroup and crèche for several years, and did a lot of private childcare work on MQS.

Hi Madge 7, I live in Portsmouth and guess what....Navy wifey ! We are soon due to move over to MQ in Fareham though.

Hi Saltire, do you have any idea what MQ you will be moving into ?

I really like this site, have been reading lots and this is my first message, took me a while to buck up the courage. I am currently on the Diploma in Home Based Childcare which is keeping my brain active.

Nice to meet you all, from reading over the past couple of weeks I have learnt alot and had some real giggles so thanks !

madge7 · 30/01/2007 20:24

Hi, oooh Fareham, thats even nearer - are you a childminder now, what part of the diploma are you on at the mo?

Funny. I keep referring to meeting up with people as mustering ! Need to stop that pronto ! I started the course in Jan so at the beginning I guess . I am a childminder although I am on maternity leave at the moment for a couple more months.

To advertise you should contact Portsmouth Chat or maybe Gosport chat ?

Where did you do your ICP ?

Hi Shosha, thanks for the welcome

Thats who is teaching this Diploma. I will ask her for you where you should advertise and let you know.

You need to look for the childcare link, I think you would come under the hampshire CIS. Have a look on google. I will try and link it for you.

Where abouts are you, do you go to rhyme time at Gosport library ?

saltire · 30/01/2007 20:45

well madge and mattysmummy, we still haven't heard officially that's where we are going, but it probably will be. DH will be working at Southwick Park but i don't think i want to live there, i would like to be near a school. My friends lived at Fareham and she said the MQ's are ok there. Are they big, and are they on quiet roads? Are they within walking distance of schools? I mean generally, not just Fareham. Which is the best area to live in? Another friend was at a place called Rowner and she said the area was rough
DH isn't an officer BTW, so it would be "other" ranks MQ's we would be going into.
And i still seem to be the only RAF wife. no shosha, neither of the two northern bases, we are at the other one. Have been at Lossie though and would go back there tomorrow, loved it

madge7 · 30/01/2007 20:48

Thanks alot!!! :-)
I have submitted info to hampshire website, i just found portsmouth chat, will have a look to see if its only portsmouth and yes!!! I do go to rhyme time, not this thursday, but next is baby rhyme time, is this week toddler? I take my little baby Betty who i look after on a thursday and friday? Will you be going next week?

I also have started going to storytime for the under fives with a little boy I have on wednesdays, so that will be us there tomorrow too, think its about 2pm.
