A bit miffed with CM

Not sure if I was taking it personally but I'm a bit miffed with my CM. This is the third time I've been to pick up Dc and she sort of just pushed Dc out of the door, handed me the diary and bag and shut the door.

Now I get everyone has bad days etc. but I normally get a quick debrief on picking up. Dropping off was similar in that Dc was ushered in and the door shut. Didn't ask how Dc had been etc. I'm not sure if I've done anything wrong or if I should even raise it with her tomorrow. Tell me I'm being unreasonable.

i wouldn't let anyone look after my child unless i knew what their home was like?!

moogy1a · 18/10/2013 22:26

TBH I would be concerned that she has somwthing in there she doesn't want you to see: mounds of mess, a new partner, TVs blaring in every room, I dunno...... something! But then I have got a suspicious mind.
mounds of mess is normal at the end of a CM day!! It's one of the reasons my parents don't come in the house ( and that mindees are likely to kick off / not want to leave if parents come in).

moogy1a · 18/10/2013 22:28

birdy my parents all have a good look round before they sign up and if they ever want to come in for a chat they give me a ring to say they'll come for pick up half an hour early so they can come in, have a chat and be out the door on time.

Ragusa · 18/10/2013 22:29

Not just normal mess you should see our house ....hoardy-type or unhygenic mess.

moogy1a · 18/10/2013 22:34

I think all people using a CM look round the house first, don't they? Also, OFSTED won't register someone whose house looks like a channel 5 documentary!

moogy1a · 18/10/2013 22:37

There's never any excuse for not having a quick chat at the door, though.

Ragusa · 18/10/2013 22:46

OP says she has never seen other parts of house, only the hall...

ForrinForrinerFromForrinLand · 18/10/2013 23:26

forresitters Sorry my last post wasn't aimed at you. More of a general answer to multiple insinuations questions above.

I haven't been to other parts of the house because of the initial setup we had, where she came to me. It doesn't bother me as parts of the house are partly visible from door iykwim. Other than this Dc loves going to the CM, so I can't say that I am too worried about anything untoward.

Just speak to her. Easier than speculating on the Internet. Smile

Personally I wouldn't feel comfy using a cm who never let me in. We had two separate cms and both welcomed us in for a quick chat while putting on coats and shoes. It meant that I knew they were open and had nothing to hide. In fact our last cm looked after a couple of other children too and if I wasn't the last to pick up I'd often sitnon the sofa and have a bit of a chat, at her invitation. I always figured that after a fullnday with little people she quite fancied a few minutes adult company. Again it all helped increase my feeling that my cm was really open and had nothing to hide.

MaryPoppinsBag · 19/10/2013 08:30

My parents don't come in they don't want to. They are invited in if mindee is in the middle of something.

Mind boggles at what you think I could be hiding! Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/10/2013 10:00

I think you need to go in and see what the set up is like - ie check for safety - gates - what the garden is like etc

Normally a parent would see the inside of the cm house when interviewin / checking them out

Obv you didn't do that as she came to you for the first 4 mths

Have you done a new contract - old one would have said xxx cared In your house ie a nanny - ie you employed her and paid her tax and ni and she would have got paid holidays

You need a new cm contract now - sayin gross wage and what happened about holiday etc

MaryPoppinsBag · 19/10/2013 11:08

Did you not take your child for a visit before he started there?
