Hi trust you had a great christmas.

I really needed the time off over the christmas.

We stayed in a hotel for two nights and visited family and friends. We then stayed at my mums and enjoyed the lovely food etc and wonderful company of my family.

I am now back and working really hard to get my assignments done.

I must say it was great to get away.

What about YOU?

Would love to hear from you!!!

Hiya

Pleased you had a good one. Mine was nice but very busy and a bit squashed with them all for dinner but was lovely. I could have really done with between Christmas and New year off as I hadn't had a proper break since June. Anyway, I'm lucky that I've now got today off by pure luck :) I'm NEVER working between Christmas and New Year again!!! Grin

Hotel sounds nice, my parents did that when they stayed down here and I must say I like that idea :)

Hope you have a great New Year!

StarExpat · 31/12/2010 14:18

Not a cm but our Christmas was amazing! Just dh DS (2yo) and I but first year DS had anticipation and "got it". Was so magical. I'm still on a high from it. The 2.5 weeks home with DS is fab, too Grin
Looney you really are looney for opening between Xmas and new year! I really, really hope my cm didn't do that!

looneytune · 31/12/2010 14:35

Star - my ds2 is the same age iirc (he was 2 in June) and I just loved watching his little face too!! Grin As for opening between xmas and new year, I'm afraid I felt I had to as my contracts say I take 20 days holiday a year and although unpaid, I feel it's wrong to go over what I state. Because I took 2 weeks in June, I wanted to space the other 2 weeks during the year so had a week in October half term (but ended up FULL on refurb of our lounge and it was far from a rest! lol) and I think I'd taken the other week in February so nothing left for Christmas. 5 and half years on and I've now written to them all saying that I'm officially closed 24th December through to first working day of the new year and that my 20 days is ON TOP OF THAT. They were all fine which is good. I can't have loads of children in my home over that period again, it's not fair on my own kids who didn't get any time to just play with their new toys and chill after the mad family stuff was done! Anyway, not happening again :) I've been having to 'think' quite a bit more now my ds1 is getting near 8 as sometimes it can feel that everyone else takes over their space (plus of course he can't watch whatever he wants on tv, play the wii much and all that sort of thing that he wants to do during his school hols!) Anyway, you have a fab new year :)

Great Christmas. Worked up to and inc Christmas eve, but finished at 3:30 which was a nice surprise. Quiet Christmas day with just the 3 of us. Family round on boxing day to eat leftovers. Sooooo glad I had these 3 days in between as holiday (got all the children's reports written and even had a positive phone call with Ofsted about a tricky variation).

Looking forward to 2011.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 31/12/2010 14:47

We have had a lovely time; I finished the Tuesday before Xmas and will reopen next Tuesday

It's been very relaxing and low-key, we have spent hours playing with lego downstairs (usually the lego is banished upstairs because of the babies) and loafing around. Bliss.

Lots of bike rides, cinema, seeing relatives, eating crap (whooo hoo)

Lovely to hear all your yuletides have gone well x

looneytune · 31/12/2010 14:47

Pleased you had a good one, bet it was nice just the 3 of you. I haven't worked Christmas eve the last couple of years due to my parents arriving that day ready for Christmas (they come down from Lincoln). Spent the night before dumping loads of stuff in the playroom to make space for the table being extended for Christmas dinner (not easy! LOL). Spent most of Tuesday getting the house back to normal for Wednesday, another reason I'm pleased I'll never be working it again whilst I'm doing this job!!! :) Oh, I won't be at group on Tues as it's my last ever Term Time day without needing to do a nursery run so we're all off to the MH if you fancy it? Otherwise, see you Wed if you're there. Happy New Year :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/12/2010 15:36

thats why i have in my contract 5 weeks holiday 2 weeks my choice,2 weeks mb/db and a week between xmas and ny Grin

HSMM · 31/12/2010 16:34

Oh yes BALD - the lego is out and also a couple of jigsaws with little tiny pieces that would normally be locked away :)

Looney - May join you at MH, because we still have the big kids from the private schools, who wouldn't be welcome at the drop in. We'll see ......

magicOC · 31/12/2010 17:08

MUM2BLESS · 31/12/2010 17:29

Thank you everyone.

This is what I am planning to do. Any time from now until begin of Jan I am going to decide what time I want off.

1 wk in Easter
2 wks August
Time off just before Christmas unitl the new year.

I do not really take time off during the school term, may do only if necessary.

Its vital that you rest lovely people or take a break to do PAPER WORK [grin}

I got a call from someone wanting me to child mind while I was away but I had to let them know about my time off and that I was away.

You cannot give your best if you are too tired !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blondes - please don't refer to a Chinese meal as a "chinky".

MUM2BLESS · 01/01/2011 11:39

Hi Extremeley.....just notice the comment yes I also agree with you its not a chinky its chinese.

I had flu over Christmas but still had a good time. back to work on Tuesday so I'm making the best of the last few holiday days. Doing paperwork today and having fun tomorrow and Monday.

happy New Year everyone Smile

looneytune · 01/01/2011 12:43

I don't think Blondes would have meant anything by calling it a chinky, it's just a short way people refer to it as a Chinese. Like some say a curry instead of an Indian, going to the 'chippy' instead of chip shop. I wouldn't have thought anything of it Blondes :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/01/2011 12:52

no offense meant :(

it was a lovely chinese :)

Extremelychocolatey · 01/01/2011 12:52

It's derogatory.

MUM2BLESS · 01/01/2011 13:15

It just sounds better to say chinese. I think a lot of people use terms that may be offensive to others.

Some how I believe you did not mean to be offensive when you said it its perhpas a term which lots of people use.

But nevertheless....

OP posts:
looneytune · 01/01/2011 13:27

That was my point, she wasn't MEANING anything by it.

Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR all :)

looneytune · 01/01/2011 13:29

Oh and Blondes, don't feel :( THIS might make you feel a bit better :)

looneytune · 01/01/2011 13:32

And if you look at another link like this one, it's the word Chink (without the Y at the end) which is what people are more likely to think of as offensive which I totally understand.

StarExpat · 01/01/2011 13:38

I don't think blondes meant any harm. No, it's not a nice word, but I know blondes is a lovely person and wouldn't mean any harm.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/01/2011 15:04

thank you looney and star :) - honestly meant no offensive to anyone :( :(
