Ok, brief rundown:

31 plus 1 today (DC 2)
on friday night at work had contractions, thought they likely braxtons as running up and down like a looney at work, attended labour ward, not braxtons, the real thing.

Given nifedipine to stop contractions which worked. given 2 doses steriods to help babys lungs mature. discharged home yest teatime. All well til now

Have felt all day like I'm waiting for a bus. Just like something gonna happen don't know why. also noted several unusual trips to the loo.

exactly 10pm tonight contractions have started again. I'm terrified!

Glad you have it all organised, SIL was caught out completely as she was out shopping and hadn't even got her bag sorted yet! Maybe you could try a bath and do some breathing exercises, watch some silly TV to take your mind off it for a bit so you can relax. Also drink some water, dehydration is linked to Braxton Hicks.

Hermya321 · 20/06/2010 23:56

Well done for getting yourself sorted ladyjadey, my thoughts are with you. Try to relax as Allsheep said.

ladyjadey · 21/06/2010 00:15

I was having a bowl of soup when they started so I have eaten, I have drank about 6 gallons of water anyway as I crave it and I already had a bath. am just watching crap tv and trying to calm down a bit, heart rate is slowing a little now!

contractions are still coming but irregular and no worse thank god.

Yeah Sunday TV is usually pretty crap, that's why I'm Mumsnetting Glad you are feeling calmer now and that contractions are not any worse, I am sure everything will be fine, try and get some sleep if you can.

QualityTime · 21/06/2010 06:59

morning all

an update:

sis and mum got here in the early hours and me and sis went straight to triage on labour ward, contractions were becoming more irregular but more painful than before. They hooked me up to ctg and there was some definate action but not as much as on fri night and the internal revealed cervix still unchanged so back home this morn with appointment to see consultant tom morn.

Fed up now, this might go on for months, obviouslyI am happy he/she is still in the best place but 2 unexpected night jaunts to hospital in 2 days has left me frazzled!

This morning I still have some odd tightenings and feel strange, like this could still be imminent, however that may just be the frazzled nerves and lack of sleep talking! But every minute this babe stays put is a bonus and I feel a ton better having my crew here for support

I will keep all you mumsnetters up to date with any changes, but I am going to take it easy today apart from a little trip to boots for the last few bits so I feel organised should we start up again.

Good plan, sods law says now your mum and sister are there and your bags are all ready it will stop

Use the fact that they are there to get some kip today though, if things do happen to start up again you don't want to be knackered, and we can wait for updates if you need rest!

Jacksmybaby · 21/06/2010 13:03

Good luck.

Not to alarm you but when I had DS (at 35 weeks), the contractions stayed very irregular until very late on and all the MWs thought I wasn't even in labour / wasn't very far along but all of a sudden I was 10cm (this was only about 8 hours after very first pains).

Just a warning not to be lulled into a false sense of security by not having regular contractions - get back into hospital asap if they start again!

Hope all goes well for you and baby stays put for a while.

How´s it going?

From my POV-beware of pains round your bum that feel like constipation

I had these overnight (pre 30 weeks)

Next morning had one terrible pain & could feel baby´s head!
Born an hr later!
(Fortunately MW got to me, but was initially on phone preparing to deliver myself!)

ladyjadey · 24/06/2010 18:25

Just to let you all know, things seem to have settled right down and no more contractions. All quiet for the last few days and hoping everything stays that way. My mum is still here but leaving tomorrow and we're all hoping I'll now make it to my due date.
