Ok, brief rundown:

31 plus 1 today (DC 2)
on friday night at work had contractions, thought they likely braxtons as running up and down like a looney at work, attended labour ward, not braxtons, the real thing.

Given nifedipine to stop contractions which worked. given 2 doses steriods to help babys lungs mature. discharged home yest teatime. All well til now

Have felt all day like I'm waiting for a bus. Just like something gonna happen don't know why. also noted several unusual trips to the loo.

exactly 10pm tonight contractions have started again. I'm terrified!

oh gosh, good luck. have you and dh been to the nicu for a look? me and dh found it v comforting while we were waiting for our moment of destiny. in the end, dd was born at thirty three + 6 and four lbs and breathed for herself from the start. those steroids are absobloodlutely miraculous.

ladyjadey · 20/06/2010 22:54

not called them yet, my plan is to sit tight for an hour and see what happens, but they are still coming.

I am a single mum live alone and have DD who is 4 in bed asleep upstairs. I have my mum and sis on standby 100 miles away. I can only pray if this is it that its not too quick! I only packed my bags this afternoon! eek!

love, don't fuck about, if the baby comes it might come v quickly and need special care when it comes out. phone someone about the contractions.

ladyjadey · 20/06/2010 22:57

i don't really want people tearing down here in a panic if nothing is gonna happen yet, it's a bit of a pickle! DD was overdue and emcs so I'm hoping it wont be too quick.

Oh I'm bricking it!

sorry but i think you're failing to see the possible seriousness of the situation.

QualityTime · 20/06/2010 22:59

I'd call them I'm sure they'd rather be there and not needed than not there and needed.

Good luck, will be thinking of you.

please get to the hospital asap, even if you have to ring round any friends/neighbours to look after your DD.

DS was born at 30+4 weeks and needed help with breathing (CPAP) from birth for a couple of weeks- you need to deliver this little one in the prepared environment of the hospital- prem labours are not like term labours and can happen very quickly- don't take any risks and just get to hospital.

Really hope labour can be stopped again but you need to be seen by the hospital now. Good luck. x

ladyjadey · 20/06/2010 23:11

Oh god I didn't realise could be so quick, will make all calls now

Thinking of you- good luck- little one will be fine even if he/she comes tonight- SCBU/NICUs are amazing places. It will be a rollercoaster but these babies are born fighters. So glad you've had the steroids too- they may a world of difference. Hope little one can stay put a bit longer though!

just sit and watch some shit telly for a bit

ladyjadey · 20/06/2010 23:34

all done now I'm just waiting.......and shaking like a bloody leaf!

never even considered the possibility of a prem baby until 2 days ago! everything was going so well!

Aitch · 20/06/2010 23:36

i know, it's quite a shock, isn't it? but it will be fine, they do amazing things in the scbu, they'll be there to help you.

try to take it easy... really what you want to do is delay things, every day counts.

AllSheepareWhite · 20/06/2010 23:41

Well done for phoning , my niece was born at 30 weeks 4 months ago she was in special care at the hospital for three weeks as she needed help with her breathing. The hospital were fantastic and she is doing well now, but may still need several operations for her heart and a hernia. Please go to the hospital straight away if the contractions become more frequent, it is the best place you can be. Are there any friends you can call that can be there sooner than your family just in case things go really quickly? Have you got a hospital bag packed for you just in case? We are all here to help you keep your head if you need some support whilst waiting for your family to arrive

ladyjadey · 20/06/2010 23:46

bags are packed, I'm sure I can get someone to sit with dd for an hour if things move quicker even if its just a neighbour. family setting off any minute and I'm just trying to keep my head. in 15 mins I will be 30 plus 2, a bit better but not much! I hope it stops!
