I have been having contractions for 2 days, very irregular but getting more regular now, also starting to get painful rather than just taking my breath away.

Is there any chance this might be it? I am 40+6 and really want it to be over.

Midwife just left, sweep was nowhere as bad as last weeks. I am 4 cm dilated and she says baby should be well on her way in next day or so.

That's great news. Only 6 to go

OnlyWantsOne · 06/04/2010 13:15

wow when I was 4cm after 2 hours of contractions my daughter was born, get some rest

winnybella · 06/04/2010 13:20

Same here- got to the hospital at about 4, DD born 3 hours later!

How exciting!

Definitely try to get some rest.

ToffeeAddict · 06/04/2010 15:19

Oh Kellze sorry to hear they've stopped for now - am sure they'll start up again very soon. Nothing much going on here, just the odd contraction, but no regularity at all.

Good luck and keep us posted if you can!!

kellze · 07/04/2010 11:38

GAH!! Still no baby. Going out of my mind waiting for any sign of her arrival.. Every twinge, I am hoping she is on her way. But noooo, she is as awkward as me.

Maybe soon. I hope.

Same here, waiting is rubbish!

I'm going in to be induced on Saturday morning - have you got a date for induction? I hope baby comes along of his own accord sooner though obviously.

I can't wait to find out what it all feels like and then to meet him - it's drivng me mad!

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 07/04/2010 12:34

Hi kellze - if it helps I was like this with DS2 - called the grandparents for babysitting twice..

then in the end I was 5cm at about 11am and DS2 was out and having a cuddle at 12.05

kellze · 07/04/2010 13:54

I am being induced next tuesday. I really hope she makes an appearance before then. my parents keep calling me for babysitting. They are nearly as impatient as me.
Having some odd pain if i stretch or stand up. No contractions as such but bump is almost constantly tight. Naptime now though.

I am the same, am sat here rocking on ball and when I stand up I get those pains too, and my bump is tight a lot of the time. I am finding it hard to distinguish BH from baby's movements sometimes. Have had one or two contractions today that verged on painful, but none in the last couple of hours.

I have a lot more pressure in my pelvis today and think I can feel the baby's head lower than before.

I am running out of responses to the texts from everyone asking has it hasppened yet - it's getting really boring now!

kellze · 07/04/2010 17:22

I have been ignoring most text messages and if they call, claim i ran out of credit... I have a contract phone

My DP has gone off to work and so I am incredibly bored and really don't want to cook for me and DS. But, I really should. Darn responsibilities.

It seems I have contractions in the evenings as they have just started again. Let's see if we actually get anywhere tonight.

Good luck Toffeeaddict.

Anything happened in the last 24 hours?

I'm resigned to having an induction on Saturday now - saw the midwife today and the baby hasn't descended at all since my sweep over a week ago so is still just at the brim of my pelvis apparently.

I got the impression from her that she doesn't hold out too much optimism for me birthing him vaginally based on my height, husband's height, size of baby (deduced from palpating bump), the fact I'm overdue and mostly the fact he's not yet engaged, although she didn't say as much.

All the above leads me to accept he probably won't be coming of his own accord now before Saturday.

SMacK · 08/04/2010 20:41

ToffeeAddict, now that is just nonsense. How DARE the mw make you feel like that.

Do you have a medical reason for induction or is it some abritary reason like it doesn't fit THEIR timescales?

You should definately ask them if the baby isn't ready to come yet, why on earth they want to induce, given that stastically, the less 'ready' the baby is the more likely a c/section.

kellze · 09/04/2010 19:14

No progress here. Went to hospital last night hoping all the contractions and pain I was in meant I was actually in labour, but nooooooo. I was sent home again.

All midwives keep saying that they don't think I will last until my induction date on Tuesday but nothing is really happening.

Good luck for tomorrow Toffeaddict. I have had enough of waiting. Let me know how it goes.

I finally gave birth on Saturday 10th April. A lovely girl called Sophia Rose weighing 9lb 1oz . How did you do Toffeeaddict?

OP posts:
Mistymoo · 16/04/2010 13:40

Congratulations Kellze. I have been watching to see how you got on.

ToffeeAddict · 16/04/2010 19:14

Oh congratulations Kellze - I wasn't as lucky and didn't manage to avoid my induction on Saturday morning. Gave birth to Will on Sunday 11th April at 6pm - 8lb 12oz. He is fab.

FWIW the MW was right to be concerned as I got to 9.5cm but he stopped descending and got stuck and I ended up with a section (although SMacK I agree she probably shouldn't have set me up with that expectation from the start).

Mistymoo · 16/04/2010 20:07

Congratulations to you too ToffeeAddict

kellze · 17/04/2010 21:22

i'm glad to hear you and baby are well, Toffeeaddict. a shame it didn't go smoothly, but great that your baby is finally here. All the best for the future and thanks to others who were looking for our progress.

Now, to get over the cracked nipples......
