I have been having contractions for 2 days, very irregular but getting more regular now, also starting to get painful rather than just taking my breath away.

Is there any chance this might be it? I am 40+6 and really want it to be over.

Sounds very positive. Hope it is and all the best.

kellze · 05/04/2010 12:24

Hi
I really hope it is too, but I am absolutely terrified that it is at the same time. I have an 11 yo son and can't remember a thing about giving birth/going into labour. I was in hospital waiting to be induced when it started with him so I feel like a first timer.

I'm a first timer and also 40+6.

Like you, I've been having irregular contractions (probably BH in my case) for the last few days and am desperate for them to turn into the real thing. They have been fairly strong at times and it's so disheartening when they eventually tail off to nothing again.

Best of luck, sounds like yours might have turned into the real thing now, hope I'm not too far behind you!!

carocaro · 05/04/2010 12:46

Sounds like it, have you called the hospital/midwvives for a chat, they'd be happy to talk it over with you.

Good luck.

OrmRenewed · 05/04/2010 12:47

Oooh how exciting ! Sounds like IT to me Best of luck kellze

piprabbit · 05/04/2010 12:55

Good luck kellze and toffeeaddict - sounds promising.

I just wanted to add that just because you have some transactions which tail off, doesn't mean nothing is happening. My first time, I had mild contractions overnight (staying is hospital for various reasons), woke up to find they had gone away but when I was checked I was actually 3cm dilated and well on the way...

kellze · 05/04/2010 12:58

Hi Toffeeaddict.

best of luck to you. Let's hope we can both have our babies soon. I feel in competition with every pregnant woman I know to have mine first though.

Hi Kelze, any updates?

Piprabbit, that's what I keep telling myself - when I had my sweep about a week ago I was 2 cm so am hoping the contractions I've had since have dilated me even more.

piprabbit · 05/04/2010 19:53

Just realised...transactions should read contractions sooooo .

kellze · 05/04/2010 21:11

Hi

Still contracting, more regularly now, about 15-20 minutes. Getting more intense, enough to make me stop what I'm doing and look like I am concentrating on a Maths problem.

excellent kellze are you going into hospital to have the baby or staying home?

kellze · 05/04/2010 21:59

i am going to hospital. At some point, but not really sure when I should call them.

Since last post, contractions have stepped up to about 6 minutes. Thankfully I live 2 minute walk from Hospital.

piprabbit · 05/04/2010 22:01

So have you given them a call yet?

liahgen66 · 05/04/2010 22:04

lovely.

is this your first baby? Is dh/p there?

carocaro · 05/04/2010 22:04

just call them and ask, it won't be an issue, then you will stop worrying

how are you doing now? sounds like things are progressing well

kellze · 05/04/2010 22:07

My second but the first was 11 years ago. DP is here looking terrified and thinking I should know exactly what is going on and what to do. I will call midwife now.

Good luck Kellze!

liahgen66 · 05/04/2010 22:10

I suspect they will say when you are having 3 ctx in 10 mins or so to come in and keep them informed of any changes, especially given that you are so close.

If you are up to it, then walk over to the hospital, it'll do you good and gravity will be able to do its thing.

Sounds like good progress, in 50 mins ctx have gone from 15 mins to 6 mins apart.

perhaps have something light to eat, banana? Drink lits water and wee regularly.

piprabbit · 05/04/2010 22:34

Fingers crossed that the lack of posting means all is progressing well and that you are, at this very moment, pottering over to the hospital.

best of luck.

kellze · 05/04/2010 23:26

Spoke to MW. Waiting at home for a bit until they get closer together or I can no longer cope at home. Thanks everyone. Will keep up to date. Helps to distract me for a sec when I check on MN.

how are you doing now? How are ctx progressing?

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 06/04/2010 09:37

morning Kellze - I hope you are either home with bubs or busy having your baby!!!

Wishing you all the best!

kellze · 06/04/2010 11:32

I went for a lie down at about midnight and contractions stopped after a while. Nothing much happening today. I am very unhappy with my body, how dare it get my hopes up like that? Midwife is coming today for a check up and a sweep. We'll see. How are you Toffeeaddict?
