So what is the perfect Mother???.......

so is there one???....I do not deem myself to be a perfect mother far from it...but seem to constantly moan, whine and shout at my four children and do not seem to have any control over my brood....is there a perfect mother out there??....if so please come forward

nope not me,

i refuse to get out of bed in the morning and sometimes admit to throwing them bars of choccie so i can get an extra 10 minutes sleep

I dress them if im going out but sometimes they wear jammies all day

and half the batteries in there toys need replacing!!

Im a naughty negelctful mother but i love my children and they love me so im happy

We always had 'pyjama days' before ds started school, he loved them & hated it when he had to get dressed the next day! I'm sure now the holidays have started we'll have a few more

I know you're all being jokey but, on a more serious note I think that being a perfect mother is more about how you make your children feel and behave and how you feed them than about how you keep house or dress them.

My most guilty moments are when I've lost my temper with them. The times when I feel most like a good mother are when I can see that they're really listening to what I'm saying.

although I did get a little teed off with ds yesterday when I slaved for an hour to cook him fish pie from Annabel ruddy Karmel, handlng raw fish, yuck (am a veggie, this really was hard) and then he ate the topping but turned his nose up at the fish and wouldn't touch the second one. And had used the time when I was distracted by cooking to felt tip the floor and throw the water from the cat bowl all over the place (made it easier to wipe up the felt tip though). Has anyone got the perfect child who eats up everything on their plate and loves home cooking? Will swap...

Agree with spidermama - the Perfect Mother does not exist except in those dark recesses of our minds where she comes out from time to time to drive us mad with guilt for not measuring up.
The good enough mother takes time to lay in the grass and look at clouds when there is laundry to do and dishes to wash.
She loves a hug even when it means she will get wet, sticky or muddy because she knows these days will not last forever.
She loses her temper sometimes and then says she's sorry and decides to make brownies with her little one and they lick the spoons and giggle.
She decides to stick candles in a watermelon when she can't bring herself to make a birthday cake in time because it brings back traumatic labor memories and her child says it's the best birthday melon he's ever had.

At the risk of sounding completely smug, i would like to think that I am the perfect mummy for my child. All i know is that i try my best and sometimes i fail but i love her so much and would do anything for her. I dont think there is any 1 perfect "mum" role model - as long as our children our happy I would say that is perfect enough

mandymoo love your post so much...you are not smug at all.....you are right there is no such thing...everyone is an each and individual mother and we all have our own way of parenting....

I guess the perfect mummy is the one who knows there's no such thing as the perfect mummy but just muddles through as best she can.
