good luck

dd1- waters at around 9am baby born 4pm (though would've been more like 1 if I hadn't had to have ventouse etc)

dd2- waters around 1030pm without contractions baby arrived 2am.

maddylou scary isn't it my nephew was born 9 wks early.

GColdtimer · 25/02/2010 08:49

Thanks everyone, seems like it is different for everyone. Contractions have slowed down now so have been walking up and down the stairs and bouncing on my ball but also trying to rest a bit too. Just focussing on meeting my baby so woud really just like to get on with it now!

Of my two DC, it was only with DS that my water went spontaneously...

I had a twinge, water went and when examined about 10 minutes later found to be 4cms.

DS was born 1 hour 40mins later. So, as with just about everything else in this crazy rollercoaster of pregnancy/childbirth, the real question is how long is a piece a string!

Hang in there, twofalls it really won't be long now. Lots of good labour vibes for you!

KSal · 25/02/2010 09:07

waters @ 5am
first labour pains @ 3pm
hospital @ 6pm fully dilated
Baby @ 9pm

(first baby too - very happy indeed!)

morethemerrier · 25/02/2010 09:27

Good luck twofalls!

Hope things are progressing, I am due in 11 weeks (dc3)and also planning a home birth due to fairly speedy labour last time!

I went from 6 - 10 cm when my waters went and he was born within minutes!, had been contracting for about two hours before

Are you bothering with a pool?

GColdtimer · 25/02/2010 10:05

everything pretty much stopped so have had a little nap and now going out for a walk. MW coming in an hour to see what is is going on.

No, not bothering with a pool, seems like a bit of a faff. Could you all send more contrations vibes to oxfordshire please?!

Come on Baby Twofalls!!!!!!! You're about to meet your AIBU celeb mum!!!
Twofalls - if you get chance after birth and fancy popping over to March antenatal or postnatal here or here to let us know how you got on we'd be very pleased to see you!

Owlingate · 25/02/2010 11:27

1st - 24 hrs after waters breaking(had to be induced!)
2nd - 5 days (induced again)
3rd - 4 hours

With the first I also had a few contractions which stopped but when they put me on drip labour only 5 hrs. Good luck!

GColdtimer · 25/02/2010 13:40

thank you and yes arcadie, I will. I do lurk but I can't keep up with the thread as it is so busy!

So, MW came, everything fine with the baby. If she hasn't arrived by 7am tomorrow I have to go in to be induced and have antibiotics. I had nothing between about 10am and noon but have had a few random contractions since then. Am alternating between being active and resting - not sure what else there is really. DD is fine at grandma's and can stay there tonight and DH is at home. I just really want to get on with it!

Really excited for you. I think you're being sensible. Rest when you can then try a brisk walk. You don't want to get over tired. Your LO might not be quite ready yet and you still have some work to do!

DD1-at 9cm she arrived 1 hour later(41+5)
DD2- 48hrs before then induced (39 weeks)
DS1-48hrs before then induced (37+5)
DS2- broken for me by consultant, then induced 6 hours later (40 weeks)

Fingers crossed contractions get established soon and you have a short labour.I'm broody just thinking about you

girlsyearapart · 25/02/2010 18:44

any news...

WorzselMummage · 25/02/2010 18:50

Dd -10 days
Ds - 5 weeks

Good luck twofalls !

pixiestix · 25/02/2010 18:52

How exciting!
Best of luck Twofalls!

Morloth · 25/02/2010 18:54

Simultaneous. DS's head was still in the bag when he came through, they then broke under the pressure and splashed.

Question, why do they break waters if labour is progressing?

GColdtimer · 25/02/2010 19:38

no news I am afraid. contractions every 5-10 minutes but have been off and on all afternoon. Really, really hope it kicks off properly soon. DD is at her Grandma's and is beside herself with excitment. Have been in bed for a few hours but am now bouncing on ball and walking up and down the stairs.

Just checking in to send you labour vibes!!!

Keep bouncing!

Good luck x

largeginandtonic · 26/02/2010 08:03

Morloth to speed it up. Mostly it is madness to do it. If labour is stalling or the baby is looking distressed then they pop the waters as a hard presenting head on a cervix can speed it up considerablby. Not always though. It can make it all go horribly wrong sometimes.

Come on Twofalls!!! You must be knackered by now. Hope you have your baby

Boobz · 26/02/2010 08:32
