help! is this a contraction or just b.h.

im having really tight pains at the top of my uterus which only last about a minute and come every five, only they dont seem to be connected to my cervix, well not yet any way, is it a really pain full b hicks or could it be for real, my last labour was so full on ive only experienced intense contractions around the cervix area and im a little confused.

how far along are you? sounds promising! i would keep timing if they get stronger or closer together give your m/w a ring just to be sure. good luck

how long have you been having them - i think when you've had 10 pains your ment to phone the midwife just for a check up if need be - oh how exciting!

been about an hour now,dh is stuck on m25 hope he gets here soon

Give your miwife a ring - see what she says you may be able to have a quick check to see if anythings happening!

i know im 2cm i have been for the last 7 weeks so if its like last time it could be quick, last labour only 3 hours but waters had broke first

Sounds like BH. Contractions that are working on the cervix give you lower abdominal period like cramps. Also they stop you in your tracks and you have to breathe through them. They usually build up over a period of time. Try a soak in the bath - if they get better you are not in full labour

yes i know what a full blown pain feels like ,its the ones that lead up to it, i only got 30 mins of those sort of pains before i was 10 cm all too quick for me ,esp with onlt gas and air for last 30 mins

How far away are you from the hospital?

about 10 mins

I would try a bath, my midwife always said to try a bath if they subsided it was bh if not it was the real thing!

im planning on getting a few good really painfull contractions before i set off and if i need an ambulance so be it .dh is on motorway stuck in traffic

That's good. I often see women who have had quick labours before come in too soon and be really disappointed. Try the bath and see how they go. If you are just aware of them at the top of your bump it is unlikely (but not impossible) to be in labour. Better to be at home as long as you can.

i honestly didnt feel a thing last time until i was 4 cm ,i remember the pain thats what im waiting for,afterall they could just fade , at least if im hopping about in pain im getting some where.

its nice to be chatting to some one who is clued up ,my midwifes phone is always off

right im off to run the bath ,my 4 year old wants to play ceebeebies on the p.c so illl be back on later,or if things progress ill keep you all posted, cheers for the advice.
