good, are you taking someone with you? take tissues, write down any questions, however small, press for as much detail as you need and take notes.

MamaG · 27/11/2009 10:14

I'm hoping my mate is available, otherwise it will be me and BabyG

I'm not going to tell DH, he's dealt with it in his own way and I don't want to bring it all back up for him as he found it very upsettig too

It was now or never, as we move 2 weeks on Monday and it would be too far to go visit the unit to discuss things.

God I've got butterflies, but I know its the right thing to do

I hope this doesn't sound like meaningless platitudes, but the only thing you will come away with is more information and that can only make you stronger and wiser. It can't make you feel worse.

I really hope your friend can come - the moral support would be an enormous help to you.

Well done, I really think it will help you

cheerfulvicky · 27/11/2009 12:01

Good for you, I know you've been working up to this. Well done

GibbonInARibbon · 27/11/2009 12:13

Well done I know it will feel scary but I am sure it will help you. When you get those butterflies remember how strong and brave you are being (and have been)

MamaG · 27/11/2009 12:57

Thanks very much all. Lol at working up to it, it's only taken me a year and 20 days

well done MamaG. thanks to your thread a few months ago I requested a debrief. It wasn't brilliant as my notes are quite sketchy however I do feel happier about going for a VBAC this time and we have a birth plan in place for number 2 which consultant and I have agreed on. I didn't get all the answers I wanted but I do feel better.
Good luck and thank you.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/11/2009 14:52

Well done and good luck

You will be emotional.
You will cry.
It will bring it all back.

But,

It's a huge step towards acceptance and peace.

ellipsis · 27/11/2009 14:54

Hi MamaG, I talked to you about this under another name a while ago. I was pushing you to talk to your DH about it, sorry, I won't do that again . Anyway, I've been following your recent threads about it and I'm glad you've got your appointment. Good luck

MamaG · 28/11/2009 07:10

sorry to butt into your thread and sound stupid... but, what is a debrief?

Disenchanted3 · 28/11/2009 12:18

It just means going over something that has happened and explaining the reasons for it happening.

swissmiss · 28/11/2009 12:23

Be thinking of you on Thursday MamaG. Well done for making the appointment.

PlumBumMum · 28/11/2009 12:26

MamaG, I remember your thread from a few weeks ago

Fair Play to you for going ahead and booking it and sending you my best wishes

ShowOfHands · 28/11/2009 12:45

Well done. It's taken me 2 and a half years to confront it. It's time.

Don't be afraid to cry, don't bottle it all up. This is the beginning.

scottishmummy · 28/11/2009 13:04

i had a post birth debrief it really helped.ask them to explain any medical terminology/abbreviations.

good luck.be prepared you will cry but it is cathartic.this wont instantly ameliorate but is 1st step to reflecting and allowing yourself to deal with the stuff

MamaG · 30/11/2009 10:17

Thanks a lot all. I'm hoping poledra and cath will see this thread soon

I'm really glad it's booked, feel a bit happier already about that, but don't yet know if mate is coming.

Yaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!

Well done, MamaG, will be thinking of you on Thursday and will be sure to be here on Thursday evening if you want to chat.

MamaG · 03/12/2009 07:39

It's today. I'm going on my own as mate can't make it. I'm feeling a bit stomach-clenchy but positive.

I don't know what questions to write down! I just wnat to go through the notes, see what happened now I've got a clear head, and hopefully jog some memories (when I first saw him, would be good!)

A thread on here made me remember holding him for hte first time and it was such a wonderful feeling. It was a thread about CS's and someone said that they were upset the MW had dressed their baby before she held it, I had a flash of memory and remembered MW placing him in my arms, wrapped in a blanket, saying "I remember how important skin to skin was to you"

oh God this is going to be an emotional day!

Good luck today MamaG, I am sorry your mate can't make it, but hold onto that positive feeling.
