Is it a sign that its imminent?
I had a sweep on friday, lost a bit of blood and mw showed me some bloody muscus on her glove but this morning lost a huge jelly like thing!
Did my show happen only as a result of the sweep (I dont remember this happening with ds who I had 3 sweeps with).
No contractions as yet.

Sorry mossy. It could be days, it could be hours. The correct question is "How long's a piece of string?"

Ooooh! I asked a similar question not too long ago! (ds2 is now 2 weeks old )

Good luck I never had a big giant blob just small stringy/jelly bits that came out over 2 and a bit weeks. Everytime I saw a bit more I got all excited

CakeForBreakfast · 09/11/2009 14:09

Could I have some of those cervix opening vibes? Am 40+4 with dc2 and am hanging around waiting for baby to decide when to come on down!

princessmel can I ask for some lovely gory detail about your show that came in bits over a couple weeks? What did it look like? I have had similar lately, but just looks like stretchy opaque jelly/discharge rather than clear blobs, so I wonder if its just wishful thinking.

Bah, come on babies.

Sure you can Cake!
It was different from rdinary discharge because the first time I noticed it, it was blood streaked. Then after that I just had it off and on when I wiped. Only a few more bits were blood streaked, most were just jellylike. Best discription is that it was like a sneeze. In ammount and appearance.

Crazycatlady · 09/11/2009 14:31

Could be hours, could be days!

I remember wanting facts and figures, so for what it's worth, it was 2 days for me between getting a show (lump of jelly) to labour starting.

redsofas · 09/11/2009 14:33

1 1/2 days with ds1 and a few hours with ds2!!!!!

chandellina · 09/11/2009 14:50

mine was on a sunday afternoon and labour started in earnest the monday evening.

elmoflumpity · 09/11/2009 16:02

I could have written your post. Had show on Friday morning (blood tinged blob) and snot like discharge all Saturday but I'm still here waiting!!

madwomanintheattic · 09/11/2009 16:05

about two weeks with ds1 - didn't happen with the dd's. i was convinced i was about to go into labour and had monumental bh's for the whole two weeks. proper 'stop, lean against wall, breathe through' stuff.

hope it's a lot faster for you lol

mosschops30 · 09/11/2009 16:09

oh some quite positive things here that have cheered me up.
Just been to toilet again and more has come away, although not in huge snot like amount there was this morning.
Have backache and a bit twingy but have been like that for about a week now so will wait til am screaming in agony before I get too excited.

princessmel I was randomly thinking about you earlier, I think I passed over your old 'pressure' thread . Congrats on arrival of ds2. How did it go after

keep those positive stories about 'shows' coming ladies, I am bouncing up and down on my swiss ball drinking raspberry leaf tea in anticipation

Started losing bloody snot like stuff early afternoon, labour started late afternoon, baby arrived 8.30pm same night. Hope this means good news for you too.

Hyena · 09/11/2009 17:35

40+10 here and had a show on Saturday after a sweep on Friday. Nothing has happened since despite another sweep on Sunday and a third booked for tomorrow - boooooooo!!
Ah well - induction Thurs so not long to wait.
Good luck Moss

CakeForBreakfast · 09/11/2009 18:40

Hmmmm.

I guess I am just wishful thinking, I don't think what i am having is show.

I have a mental image of this baby in the bump bracing its limbs like cats do when they don't want to be put in the carry basket saying "Nooo, hell no, I won't go!"

Very naughty babies, maybe they know its cold out.

Belgianbun, mosschops, hyena and all others, I am thinking seriously cervix opening vibes for us all

princessmel · 09/11/2009 19:53

Lol Mosschops!

Um maybe you should wait untill you've had your baby before you read the birth story....

It's on the original 'pressure' thread.

On a +ve note it was pretty quick and ds2 is beautiful!!! Pics on profile too

Naetha · 09/11/2009 19:58

My plug came out at midnight-ish, contractions started at 8am, and I gave birth at 1am the following morning.

Was 40+5

notjustapuppymum · 09/11/2009 20:44

Mine came out at 3pm, waters broke at 5pm, baby born at 12.04am - first baby, 38 + 4.

CakeForBreakfast · 10/11/2009 02:21

Those were some good vibes...

...Believe I could be in labour now. Firm but very bearable contractions about every 8-10mins, (also doing the proverbial clearout - you know what I mean!)

Wonder when to call doula over.

However, STILL NO SHOW. Oh well,

CakeForBreakfast · 10/11/2009 07:41

NO NO NO NO NO!

I'm still here. After having contractions in the early hours of the morning for 2 hours, plus a proper dicky tummy, they just stopped. Stopped.

Had one or 2 random ones since then, but I'm still very much pregnant. Whats going on?!?

Hyena · 10/11/2009 10:00

Oh poor you Cake. That's happened to me quite a few times over the last few weeks although not since EDD. 11 days overdue today and waiting for the MW to perform third sweep. Don't think it'll do anything because baby is still OP.
Mel - your DS is gorgeous and you look amazing! Congratulations.
Mosschops is very quiet. Hope things have kicked off for you.

mosschops30 · 10/11/2009 11:14

Oh hyena I feel your pain. I had 3 sweeps with ds and nothing moved the little devil I was induced at 40+15. I do hope yours works and you get baby out before induction.

cake I also woke with strong contractions at about 2am and thought 'yes this is it' sadly they died off and Ive had nothing since .

OP posts:
mosschops30 · 10/11/2009 11:20

ooh am mirroring cake and have just had 'the clear out'
also had a bit of a 'something about mary' moment with a bit of mucus that flung itself out of me (sorry TMI, but was funny to me in my sad hormonal state)

Bring on the waters

OP posts:
Hyena · 10/11/2009 11:47

MW came and things very much the same - bulging membranes apparently. If I can get them to 'pop' this baby might engage and get things going....

Had a bloody wipe whilst MW was here (before s&s) but that's the first since Saturday.

LOL at your moment, Mosschops. I was fascinated by my 'show' on Saturday.

mosschops30 · 10/11/2009 11:56

ooh sounds good hyena especially with your waters bulging too! Do you have a knitting needle handy (only joking). Im constantly amazed by the pressure these membranes can take, its miraculous
